Taking rough average winning times from the GP last night and comparing them to SGP3 winning times, not a scientific comparison at all, but most average winning times last night were 1m 3sec, or 1m 4sec compared to 1m 8sec for the kids on 250's, so only roughly one second per lap slower for the young lads. I was surprised that the difference was so small. It would be interesting to see the power ratios for modern 500cc and 250cc bikes.

Thought the whole programme was great and a real incentive for the lads to get to the final on a real track in a magnificent stadium. I hope the FIM continue development programmes like this. congratulations to the first three especially Mickel Andersen . Something tells me that the Polish lad who was third is going to be a real personality if he sticks to the sport. Ace and Luke weren’t disgraced by any means and performed well, congratulations to those that work with them in Berwick academy.. finally ,absolutely brilliant to see Brian Andersen again after all these years. I’ve never seen him so happy..

Fabulous to see the youngsters getting the full SGP treatment and fantastic to see them getting the experience and the start line discipline, and a real speedway track to race on. Superb event , want more please. And thanks to Kergel for the superb streams.

Good result for Ace in the u16 SGP semi in Poland scoring 10 points and qualifying for the final I do believe. This should be interesting with so many good u21 riders in Poland . Suspect it could well be from Cierniak, Pludra, Miskoviak, Ratajczack and Paluch. Hopefully an entertaining meeting with all the young guns, and cracking racing.

I would put you down as a comfortable armchair ride, maybe with a little tot of cognac in a cup holder on the bars now that you’re re a country gentleman I never knew anyone who rode , that deliberately tried to copy anyones style . If you’re going to make it from junior to fully fledged rider I think you’ll just develop your own style. I wish you luck Steve in your future career .

Just read on crashnet that Gino Rea had a very serious crash at Suzuka in the eight hour last weekend. He apparently showed some good signs this morning and it sounds like he has been put in an induced coma for a bit longer. Good luck Gino for a full recovery

Well at least Dan did his bit for my prediction. You really couldn’t have a nicer guy to win it ! World Champion for 2023. ? That’s worth a punt, he has that all round ability now and he could win the championship without actually winning a grandprix. Congratulations Dan, you won it fair and square

As in all sports penalties and sanctions for violations should be consistent, but with humans making the judgement calls, it’s difficult to be completely objective. What will Yamahas decision be on which lap to take the long lap, it’s a tough call to make at the start of a race with only three laps available. Just wondering where on the circuit the loop is ? Fingers crossed it’s a good dry weekend , with some tight races. Should be-a good opportunity for young Ogden to make his mark on his home circuit.. Hope those that have been carrying injuries are now fully fit after the summer break. I’m looking forward to this weekend , wish I could be there..

Absolutely shocked at the vilification of Adam Ellis , and to refer to him as a scumbag is disgraceful. He has done nothing wrong. All Adam has done is turn up to NSS to defend his title and surprisingly he's had a poor first three heats, but as we know that's speedway. He might not be in the form of his life but who knows how things can suddenly change with form. Ludicrous when people say he should relinquish his position as champion when he won it fairly and squarely last year, and his successor could not be crowned last night. As we know with 40% of the meeting still to be run, misfortune could have hit Bewley, Harris, Brennan and any of the others. That is speedway on an evening of crappy weather. As has been proved just lately , a contingency plan is necessary for big title deciding events. The shocking mismanagement of teamGB not being able to replace Woffinden in the SON final and Flint in the U19s are prime examples. There should have been a second reserve date this week to resolve the British final issue. If businesses were run the way this country and British speedway are run we wouldn't have an economy. As far as I know Adam is a decent lad who gets on with his job, and its time for people to get behind him for the Grand Prix in Cardiff. Wouldn't it be wonderful if he won it

An enjoyable meeting last night, but I must agree that the team management on both nights was generally poor. Last night Flint should at least have had one ride probably two, he would have been no worse than Kemp. There seemed to be very little team spirit or real camaraderie amongst them, but all this "can't really be arsed" expressions on their faces doesnt really inspire supporters and sponsors. Brennan has far more discipline and good attitude, but it doesn't hurt to smile and stand with respect if you don't win as the other nations proved last night . GB body language is poor, and in this day and age you would expect them to be taught such things. You've only got to look at Gusts example , a credit to Latvia, can speak good English with a smile, he always seems to enjoy himself whenever you see him racing. His example of warm-up exercises , which I've noticed are not iuncommon in Polish racing is one that many could follow. These days fitness and strength are critical in speedway. But riders with "mardy kid" faces does them no favour at all. The first thing that serious sponsors look at is personal presentation and demeanour not to mention good self discipline. Woffinden is a prime example for poor attitude., whilst Lambert and Bewley both seem way ahead in being media savvy and present themselves well. When it comes to the seniors, even if they were present last night, they should have been visible promoting the GB squads , I don't see Stead and Allen inspiring anybody and nice guys they maybe, but firstly why two of them, or are they both indecisive. Bewley has clearly come on a lot this season and obviously riding in the same team as Woffinden week in week out they should have had more confidence in him. Lambert is also having a superb season in Poland and we should be proud of the two young men they , are our future. Just add some discipline and professionalism . Poland have set tha bar very high for the rest of world speedway to follow, we need to take note. As an example at the presentation the Polish team quickly printed up signs for Ceirniak and Miskowiak to hold with good wishes to their injured teamate. The simple things that look good are easy to do. Good luck too the lads tonight, we've got three top class riders who really have a good chance of doing well.

I would not be happy if I was an Oxford supporter and have paid good money to go and watch this. I hope there is a proper inquiry into why Barker was suddenly unfit and the results published. All that way from Plymouth , and their supporters are left short changed. Another example of our shambolic sport in this country.
