Well, it actually always was about sprints - namely a given number of very short races that form a meeting. :D

What it's never been about is endurance races (apart from occasional 16-lap gimmicks) or timed qualifying.

Now, a 16 lapper after qualifying with the top 8 sounds like something interesting and different, unlike what they have proposed :D

Didn't notice how wide Sedgmen's home / away splits were until I was reading the Birmingham track review in Speedway Star.

Last year averaged 6.93 at home & 8.59 away. So as long as he can ride Armadale better than he can ride Perry Barr, he'd be a great signing.

Disagree...IMO, he's not what we need.

I think it's what we'll get, but not what we need. Averages don't mean everything, it's about what is delivered in key races, and I just don't think he is the man to deliver even in a weaker league... Especially with Picko as number one, someone who provides entertaining races after s*** starts but often comes up short in the big races

Just got tickets through eBilet.  Very easy, just don't say you want an invoice as it starts saying your post code is invalid.  As soon as I said I didn't want an invoice worked perfect.  Tickets emailed through immediately.

Something to look forward to. Hotel very reasonable too. Never been to Warsaw.  Just need to get flights when they get released by Ryanair.

Which is the best Airport given the choice?

    Thanks :t:

    Warsaw has 2 airports.

Chopin is the main airport and much closer to the City but most Ryanair flights from the UK go to Warsaw Modlin.

I think only Manchester had a Ryanair flight to Chopin this year.

Edit - Wizzair usually have a few flights to Chopin from the UK, if you would consider them.

My shot as to who will get the jury's vote.......

    Bewley, Doyle, Fricke, Woffy, Thomson.

of those not in my pick I can only see Dudek and Lebedev as of any worth. It was a tight choice between Fricke and Dudek, I picked Fricke because he scored more points even though both did a full 10 GPs.  Lebedevs has had a good number of meetings this year, but at his age is he going to get any better? I don't think so.  Woffy is one of those who can (still) beat Zmarzlik in an odd race or two. Thomson deserves a pick because he wasn't doing too bad when badly injured.

I read some would rid of Doyle because he is dangerously too tough. Perhaps if he had received some sort of public warning they could leave him out, but as it is how can they just leave no 8 in the world out.

last night Kubera didn't impress me, 1 win, 2 thirds, 2 lasts not good enough.    One who did impress for the future was Luke Becker. He would have learned a lot last night, and he was in the mix more than Kubera was.

However, that would leave only one Pole in the 2024 GP series and I don't think that is going to happen. so...... I don't know all

Doyle qualified through the GP challenge, so there is no question about his involvement.

Also coming from the GP Challenge is a 2nd Pole, Szymon Wozniak.

I personally hate the drone footage shown in the GPs, by all means show it after the race for a different view, but please not during races.

I actually like it if it's a close race, but because it has to chase behind the last rider it can make the leaders too far away.

Same thing really. A non-negative result just means a drug test that shows up an illegal substance before it’s been sent for lab analysis (A Test). All drug tests on site will either be ‘negative’ or ‘non-negative’ at the time they are taken. Ben Barker’s test was lab tested later (B Test) and upgraded to ‘positive’, which the SCB confirmed in a statement at the time. He got a more lenient ban because the drug he tested positive for was used for pain relief, it wasn’t recreational or performance enhancing, and the SCB accepted this.

But the article quoted says that 2 years is the MINIMUM. If it can be less due to excuses then it's not a minimum, surely?

Or is this 2 year minimum new since Barker was caught?

wow i didn't want to know the result so never looked at any comments on the match. sounds intriguing:shock:

Match thread has all the details.

Cookies bike went over the fence and a photographer was hit and left in a bad way, though thankfully should make a full recovery even though he has pretty serious injuries.

This GP is rapidly becoming a bit of a farce!!

No wildcard named and as far as i can see Eurosport and Discovery + have completely forgotten about this GP as i can’t find any coverage on any schedules !!!

Discovery+ App is showing qualifying available live from 8:55 to 10:15 and the meeting from 14:30 to 18:15.

Also has SoN listed for the day before between 15:50 and 18:30. Presumably that is SoN2?

Edit - False dawn beat me to it!

They maybe have to ride in these meetings because it's being run as a business, so to sell sponsorship packages to other businesses they'll have a programme of events that they're participating in to sell to sponsors. The sponsors, The Daily Star for example, probably don't even know or care that some of the competitions the team are riding in carry little prestige. That would be my take on it anyway

And "Allied" wanted one of theirs in the SWC so it was down to a choice between Brennan or Harris for the managers?

  10. Great entertainment with close scores and close racing tonight.

I'm not a fan, but what a brilliant ride from Janowski under huge pressure in the last race. He's not the man I would have picked to take the pressure last race, but he delivered spectacularly.

SWC is just so much better than the SoN...Please tell me that we don't have to wait 3 years to see this again.

I have attend BV four times this year..

First meeting v Sheffield, PCMM, and the visits of Emil and Artem...

Not sure how many other meetings there has been, but just by me not purchasing any tickets for them, it should have triggered the club to make contact and at least inform me of what is taking place in the near future...

My email is known to them when I buy the tickets,, so they will know when I have attended, and when I havent...

Does that not depend on whether you gave consent to be contacted for these reasons?

They have your email address but I think GDPR laws say that they can only use this for the purpose it was provided, not any extra reasons unless you give explicit consent.

Of course, if they are not even asking for that consent at registration then they are missing an opportunity, as you suggest.

It's refering to foreign riders on assessed averages not being able to drop below 4.00.

The second part confuses me though, what does that mean? Surely nearly every new commonwealth rider hasn't achieved an MA in a professional league?

Is the rule then targeted at European riders who have raced in Sweden, Denmark or Poland rather than Commonwealth riders?

Although obviously more Aussies are starting out in Poland or Denmark these days as it's easier to race there than meet UK visa requirements.

Yes I know but in his u24 rides he has only won one heat, third 8 times and last 8 times. All these Aussies heading for Poland rather than the U.K. will realise it’s better to come here to learn their trade. They are not superstars in the making.

Don't know this guy's situation, but it's unlikely that he'd be able to get a work visa to race in the UK. They are pretty strict about who is allowed in these days.
