  1. Okay thanks. The weather doesn't look to bad here in Norfolk. so think I may take a chance and undertake the journey. The wife likes to visit Brigg Garden Centre anyway, but it's a long way just for that!! Fingers crossed all will be okay.
  2. Jeremy Pestell is riding in the Midland Development League. Maybe Justin Elkins could be talked out of retirement
  3. The Dragons Speedway Club are staging a meeting at King's Lynn tomorrow, with a start time of 1.00pm. If it's half as entertaining as the Southern Track Riders meeting held at the same venue 2-weeks ago, then no one will leave Norfolk disappointed. Admission is free, with a full match programme available, not just a race-card. I understand that there is quite a large contingent travelling up from Kent to share in the pleasures with us locals.
  4. Oh jeez...................I'd rather listen to Bryn................but there again!!!!
  5. I'm sorry that you have problems that are probably pretty obvious to me, as when the situation is not right, I also have difficulty. At this point I will stop all conversations with you over the rights and wrongs of using defunct club names, and offer you my best wishes. Yeah New Cross, that was another great place to watch speedway, and offered a great vantage point for watching the riders in the pits. I have many old black & white photos that I took there back in the late 50's and early 60's of people like Ronnie Moore, Peter Craven, Ove Fundin, Jack Young, Split Waterman, Ray Cresp, Cyril Brine, Ron How and so the list goes on. Happy days and memories eh? Keep well, and I hope you get to see as many meetings as possible when circumstances permit.
  6. Fully agree 'Parsloes 1928 nearly', and I will be travelling from my Norfolk home to support the Wimbledon side (sorry Kent fans!!). I understand what 'gustix' is saying, although I don't personally agree with him, and can only assume that if this meeting turns out to have no connections with the previous regime, then he won't be attending, which would be a shame. If he's a former 'Dons' fan as both you and I are, then I'd have thought he'd be delighted to see the famous name take to track once again. But despite whatever you tart a meeting up as, it shouldn't really matter, because if you're a true speedway fan, it doesn't matter one iota as long as you've still got the sport to watch. Good luck to those who are putting this event together, it's made me postpone other arrangements that I had made for the 12th August. COME ON YOU 'DONS'........okay and 'KINGS'!!
  7. But 'gustix' you're quote on the forum about a meeting I attended last Sunday was: - Well I just wonder why these club/team names are used like this - no actual link to the original clubs or the areas they represented. Will we soon be seeing Stamford Bridge versus High Beech in this type of racing? I don't detract anything from those who participate in these meetings and wish them as organsiers and riders every success - but surely using old club names has no creditable value? So why does using the name Wimbledon (a team I've supported all my life) have any creditable value if the likes of Exeter etc don't?

    Dragons - 21st July

Yes 'gustix' there were and always are some supporters there. In fact if you were to check out Scunthorpe, & Northside you'd find they they get quite a few attending. I know for a fact that one family travel from Peterborough to Northside meetings, and they don't have any family members involved, they are purely supporters.

    Dragons - 21st July

Yep, I'm with you on that Bryn, although I do respect the thoughts of Gustix too. Stamford Bridge v High Beech.......what a great idea

    Dragons - 21st July

A little piece of nostalgia came to the Norfolk Arena in King's Lynn this afternoon, with four now sadly defunct teams taking to the track in a splendid double-header. The main event saw the Wembley 'Lions' fight out a humdinger of a match against the White City 'Rebels' with former Twin Towers side running out 59-51 winners. Giving support was another tasty clash between Crayford 'Kestrels' and Exeter 'Falcons', in which the Devon side emerged victorious to the tune of 39-32. Main talking point amongst the officials in the box was the non-appearance of self-confessed Crayford fan 'Parsloes' in support of his beloved Kestrels, totally unforgivable we all agreed!!! WHITE CITY 51 1. Kieron Davidson (2-2-1*-0-2-1*) = 8+2 2. Duane Wurzbuger (0-1*-1-3-0-4^) = 9+1 3. Mike Osborne (2-3-2-1*-2-2) = 12+1 4. Rider Replacement 5. Gareth Davies (0-F-2-1-0-0) = 3 6. Lakeside Amateur Meeting 19/7/13

Any chance that somebody could post the results on here please?
  14. Does anybody have the heat details and points scorers from this meeting held on the 27th June please? Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
  15. That's fantastic Superstar1, thank you very much indeed for your time and trouble. I don't dabble in Facebook or Twitter as basically I don't have the time, so seem to miss out on a lot of current news these days.
  16. Does anybody know if the Scunthorpe Summer Championship took place on the 16th June. I was out of the country at the time, and don't seem to be able to locate the results anywhere? Thank You.

    Buxton V Kings Lynn 14/7/13

Dreadful spectacle and utter waste of money, not to mention best part of an 8-hour round trip. Nobody's fault I guess, with King's Lynn being so understrength, although team manager Malcolm Vasey did his best to keep us in touch with his choices for TR rides. Couldn't make out the PA system at all on the 3rd/4th bend, because when the announcer spoke it was quite audible......when he could get it to work, but when the centre-green presenter spoke, he couldn't be heard at all, even when they bothered to turn the music off. I should imagine it must be a real struggle for the management at the moment in trying to get things like this put right, as they are trying desperately hard to raise the funds for an air fence, and that can't be easy on their crowd levels, as I've never seen them so low. I wish them luck though, and will say that this is the first time in all the years they've been running, that I've not enjoyed my visit.
  18. Round One at King's Lynn proved to be exciting 'Main Man', now I'm looking forward to seeing the second round at Stoke this Saturday........what a thoughtful husband I am on my wife's birthday Well it's tomorrow really, and I'm taking her to the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show by means of compensation........jeez, I must be one in a million hey ladies?????????????
  19. Great report yet again 'Main Man', very much appreciated.
  20. A day before the meeting, and nobody has started a thread!!! If anybody intends attending, the line-ups are as follows: KING'S LYNN: 1) Steven Worrall 2) Lewis Rose [if declared fit] 3) Darren Mallett 4) Shane Waldron 5) Lewis Kerr 6) Shane Hazelden 7) Robert Lambert MILDENHALL: 1) Lewis Blackbird 2) Aaron Baseby 3) Josh Bates 4) Jon Armstrong 5) Daniel Halsey 6) Nathan Stoneman 7) Josh Bailey
  21. Probably the results I've posted below, didn't realise the 1st meeting was last year. Yes, I'm running Windows 7 too, but I can't get any facilities to work on this particular site (i.e. BOLD, UNDERLINE, SMILEY). Any other website I post on his fine, it's just this speedway forum for some reason. 23. Does anybody have the heat details and points scorers from this meeting that was held on the 24th June please?
  24. Sorry that I can't put a normal results service on here, but my PC won't drop down a line when I hit the return key for some reason. It was without doubt the best amateur meeting seen at the Norfolk Arena this year, and the winners were as follows: INTERMEDIATE: Rod Woodhouse NOVICE CLASS: Neal Richmond OPEN CLASS: Andy Mountain
