    Name your favourite five riders.

Gary Gugluemi - absolutely wild & very entertaining when he started out. Andy Hackett - cracking little racer whose career was blighted by injury John Jorgensen - spectacular when in full flight Michael Lee - nuff said Chris Harris - always entertaining

    Odsal

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/55057985 Looks like Bradford Bulls want to go back to odsal. Deal agreed with stock cars & they also want speedway... Good luck with the latter....

    Sheffield 2020

Good drills by Sheffield. Haven’t been to a live meeting in 15 odd years, partly through exile up north & partly through lack of interest. I shall definitely be wandering across to Owlerton to see NP pure box office despite his advancing years. I would also imagine he’d be of great benefit to the other 6 in terms of watch & learn from a master. Quite enthused about 2020 season now & that hasn’t happened in a long time.

    Tommy Knudsen

The back injury was just prior to the 89 season I think whilst racing in Australia. Think he was lucky not to end up in a wheelchair. The Bees had to shuffle late on just before tapes up with Kai Niemi coming in. I think he officially retired after that injury but then made a come back towards the end of 1990? IIRC there was some animosity between him & Ole over TK racing/not racing with a broken arm in a Danish test match. Ole wanted him too, TK was reluctant but did only to pull out halfway through his first ride. I watched him from his first steps as a second half rider at 16 all the way through to the end of his Bees career. For me he was Mr Coventry Bee. so many great memories, beating Ivan Maurer in a tight match, Ivan being a tactical in the #2 & 7 race, Tommy being a raw #7. was a world class ride who had no luck in big meetings & always seemed to pick up niggly injuries when flying that always set him back that little bit.

    Heartbreaking.

    Coventry 2017

Can I just say good luck to you & those working with you to restore the Bees. Grew up supporting them. Saturday night was speedway night. My interest has wained in recent years & I no longer live near Coventry but to me speedway is Coventry & a league without them is a poorer place. I can't believe Brandon is gone, so many good memories of the place. People like you are the unsung heroes of minority sports & deserve support not vilification..

    Sgp Wildcards 2018

Time for some fresh young talent in 2018. There should be no place for sentiment. Hancock & Pedersen have had a fantastic run & should be remembered as great champions but there time has passed. Holder, Zagar & Iversen are just not cutting it this year & unless they find form & the hit top 8 should be dropped. Be good to see the likes of Lebdevs & Milick (sp!) in there.
  8. Good job Mr Cook. Looks like we'll have a proper Brit to cheer in the GP's next year...
  9. Am I right in assuming the ban will start once he coughs up the 3k fine, ala Danny Bird. I.e. If he doesn't pay the ban will just roll on & start if & when he does? If so the fine is more painful than the ban. Unless he crowdfunds it or has a benevolent sponsor?

    Lindback Arrested...

FWIW for it to be rape in England & Wales child has to be under 13. Above that age it becomes unlawful sexual activity with a child. This is presuming consent either way consent cannot be given if under 13... Can't comment about Swedish law mind...

    Coventry 2016

Spotted this on Twitter, is this genuine or pie n the sky.? Apologies if it is I have been away. @SaveCovSpeedway: Has anyone read the speedway star article about Mick Horton buying Brandon for £2 million? Any other details?
  12. One of the "originals" RIP girl

Name Of Famous Rider Who Committed Suicide?

In that case we shall have to agree to disagree. My personal opinion is that there can be no excuse for what he did.

Name Of Famous Rider Who Committed Suicide?

Suffering or not, the point, to me at least, is that he committed murder. Just as an aside, are you saying that those committing crime, murder in particular, but suffering mentally deserve sympathy? I can think of a number of names who have committed murder whilst mentally unstable, the name of which if mentioned only cause outrage/revulsion. Would they deserve "sympathy"?

Name Of Famous Rider Who Committed Suicide?

" Don't think it was an outburst, just my opinion. As for deserving "Sympathy", give me strength, he took a shotgun to another human being, let alone all the other problems that caused to those left behind, there is no excuse for that. I am not about to discuss MH issues on this forum, needless to say, I am well aware of MH & it's effect's I also deal with people genuinely suffering & allegedly suffering from MH problems on an almost daily basis. I maintain, he deserves no sympathy & certainly no eulogising(sp?), as a speedway rider, which some seem to want to do.

Name Of Famous Rider Who Committed Suicide?

This post is so wrong. He committed murder & orphaned two kids & no doubt caused considerable damage to other family members left behind. Whatever he did on a bike is irrelevant. he was a murderer & deserves to be remembered as such.
  17. What's it like living in the UK's biggest Open Nick then BFD?
  18. Perhaps compromise will mean that Cov will race, we'll have a 40 limit, the rules regarding the 8.00 will stand, however Pawlicki will keep his 4.00 average, this rule will be effective from 2011 & not retrospectively . PBoro get to race in the PL & finally we will get a full review looking into the possibility of an independent body to run Brit Speedway. Seem's like a sensible compromise to me.

    Coventry Poll

Tell me Shovlar, do you live under a bridge?
  20. Think Jeffster has echoed the thoughts of many. Sadly, the ill feeling toward Poole is generated by two or three muppets that post continual Poole biased rhetoric which is anti anyone that comes remotely close to beating them. When Cov won the Grand Final at Poole I was all set to come on here & gloat from the rooftops. One thing stopped me, the reaction of the home straight after Bomber's crash & subsequent last bend cut back under Holder. The camera's showed a lot of Poole fan's stood applauding, plainly they appreciate quality speedway & are fair minded decent people, as always it's the minority who spoil it. That's the thing to remember. Inspite of the odd clown's contiual posting of thier bile, the true fan's appreciate good speedway. I am pretty confident that these clown's don't represent the majority of Poole fan's.
  21. Don't watch a lot of speedway these days, don't really bother with this forum either & having read through this & other threads, I see nothing much changes, same old suspects still spouting the same old bile against anything that does not involve Poole Seems some just can't move on One rider that would get me interested again is Gollob, fantastic to watch & a deserved champion this year. As for Bomber, give him a dirt line & he's up there. brilliant to watch. Well done to both
  22. Not been to Saddlebow Rd since 1988 & christ it was a toilet back then, however the track has always been up there amongst the best, stadium looks like it's been dragged into the 21st century as well, what happened to the main stands on the home straight? Cracking meeting, top result & good work from team GB....... A word of caution, the Aussies with Crump & Adams will be a different prospect as will either the Swedes or Danes on a super slick Vojens. Third place in the final will be a result
  23. I really do hope your post is tongue in cheek, if not you really are <pethetic unnecessary personal abuse removed> F1 a global audience running into millions, sell out's wherever they race, country's fighting to hold a race, (Spain excepted), 80,000 attending practice day at Silverstone as opposed to 32,000 at Cardiff........ How many riders are sponsored by global marques? Hampel & Crump if you accept Red Bull..... Virgin Racing, back of the grid also rans, but they are in F1! Speedway exciting as it can be, is & always has been a minority sport. F1 it ain't
