    SGP venues for 2024

The 'Polsat Plus Arena' is not the speedway stadium in Gdansk, but the 40,000 capacity football stadium! This will be something similar to what we already have in Warsaw and Cardiff with a temporary speedway track.

  9. One source says 25 000, another says 20 000
  10. By the way, I watch the Premiership on DISCOVERY+ and I enjoy it very much. British league speedway is certainly different to what we get to see from Poland, but it has a very unique charm, and the TV coverage of the SGB Premiership Speedway on DISCOVERY+ presented by Kelvin, Scotty and Abby is excellent.
  11. Forget it. There is nothing like league teams racing. So please, not another individual series, we already have the SGP and the SEC, that is more than enough. Here in Germany we had the German Speedway Masters series, which was in principle run extactly like what You propose here, as a combined individual and club team competition. It lasted no longer than two years. Riders were missing most of the time and had to be replaced by others, it was just not worth following this.
  12. On Friday and Saturday of this week, the second edition of the FIM Women's Speedway Academy was held at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester. https://www.fim-moto.com/en/news/news-detail/article/fast-females-take-centre-stage-at-atpi-fim-womens-speedway-academy
  13. Why? Because there are already examples in many other sport where Russian athletes are still allowed to participate, for example the tennis players. Lots of Russian ice hockey players still play in foreign leagues, even in the NHL. As a matter of fact, both Artem and Emil are no longer Russians, they do have the Polish citizenship. They have both left Russia. Isn't it against the law to single them out and don't allow them what other Polish sportsmen are allowed to do, just because they were born in Russia?
  14. What a shame there is no run-off for silver and bronze, and our German lad Norick Blödorn misses out on a medal on countback. Too bad!
  15. The PZM is absolutely against them, even though they are (technically) legal Polish passport holders and citizens. Emil and Artem should be allowed to compete in the SGP under a neutral flag. It is a crying shame if they are not allowed back into the Grand Prix.
  16. https://www.bellevue-speedway.com/blog/latest-news-2/meeting-preview-2023-sports-insure-british-final-143 I am sure this will be a great meeting, and I really can not understand the negative attitude of some of the BSF members. Come on give it a go and make it an event to enjoy. A big crowd and great atmosphere at the stadium could show the riders like Woffinden and Lambert that the British Final is a meeting not to be missed. A more positive approach can change many things around.
  17. Just look at Poland they changed from one-off final to three round series and they have nothing but problems now and it has lost much of its appeal. Keep the British Final as a one-off final, that's the best
  18. Isn't Castagna injured as well?
  19. They could easily run a Commonwealth Final in addition and after the British Final, with the top eight Brits qualifying for that, and race against top Aussies and maybe one Kiwi or so, just like it used to be when it was a round of the World Championship.
  20. Did the women actually have a race meeting or was it just practising? Were spectators allowed to attend the event? Was anybody there who can tell us about it?
  21. Does anybody know which seven nations will take part in the SON2 on Friday?

    Speedway Star

Mine has turned up right on time on Saturday morning here in Bavaria.
  23. But it does make commercial sense, and that is important, too. Anyway, Leszno are much improved now that their injury crisis is behind them. I would not discout them, although Wroclaw of course are the big favorites in this tie.
  24. No, because it makes commercial sense, and it actually works quite good as it is, with six teams contesting the first round to extend the playoffs and create another six meetings for tv !
