Woofy Still Getting Good Media Coverage
spinkox replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
To do so he needs a serious sport behind him. -
I would strip it down before attempting to start - or at the very least - strip and clean the oil pump and put oil down the barrel. Restored one would be worth around £5000 - I think. It might be possible to date from the engine number. Photos would be interesting to see. . .

Weren't We Expecting A New Ruling Regarding Race Suit Material This Season?
spinkox replied to skthecat's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
If leather suit manufacturer sponsored Tai with a suit - I dare say many other riders would follow. Seems like a great business opportunity - and sensible for safety. -
What if he says - there is life after death??

But how did you know about my dirty white vest??
-
My guess is that - rightly or wrongly - humans have been assessing other humans for one reason or another since we first appeared on this planet - probably initially for safety reasons. Im going to stick my neck out and say I believe EVERYONE on this forum does it. Nowadays we make our assessments based upon generalisations. These will be based upon lots of spurious facts such as sex, race, weight, age, occupation, diet, class, accent, clothes, tattos, EVEN type of car driven, and dog owned. And loads more. We all do it. So the next time you are walking down a lonely dark alley in the dead of night and you come to a junction. On one side is a drunken guy built like Mike Tyson covered with tattoos, wearing a hoody and walking 3 out of control Rottweilers. On the other is a beautiful prancing young girl with a poodle - which way are you going to turn?? ps - I thought Tai came over pretty well on the BBC.

Hopefully he will be on his bike when he wins.

If some ex Wimbledon riders could have been booked just to be in the CROWD - it would increase the gate. . . -

spinkox replied to Blazeaway's topic in National League Speedway
Pity they cant get some of these riders (or others) for a demonstration/fun race. This would take most of the pressure off them - rather than taking part in a team event when not match fit and on borrowed equipment. I think that would increase the crowd size. If nothing else it should be an excuse for Wimbledon supporters to meet up again . . . -
Oh Dear, Lee Guilty Of Drug Possession
spinkox replied to martin_t's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
We all break the law - dont we?? - using the office photocopier - and telephone - and internet, stealing a paper clip, straying across private land to take a short cut, smoking under age, carrying 3 people in a 2 people car, starting speedway bike on the pavement. Those are some of mine - nobody else done anything? -

My reference was to the fact that one member in particular jumps on most comments I make and tries to make a silly comment-link in regard to a south London area. It is not usually a direct response to the thread I have created but just an endeavour to try and wind me up. Some forum members also respond in an unnecessary aggressive manner that's not really needed. Look at the two highlight words - that's "aggressive mood" and not needed. Without them the ressponse would have been a polite reply and not needed a further comment from me. Edited by gustix, Today, 12:10 PM. OK Thanks for clarifying. The thing is with forums - and texting - and emails ie the written word rather than the spoken word - there is always room for ambiguity. It seemed to me as if you were saying your wanted to post messages but didnt want them to be read by anyone - which is obviously crazy. No offence intended. . . -

Someone should ask whoever won it when Wimbledon first closed down - altho it might be rightfully his. -
So is ANY promoter doing it right??

And - Does that fantastic original trophy from the Wimbledon days still exist?? -
Great idea - possibly. Am I missing something?? Website doesnt say very much important details - Which tracks will be used - What days and time it will run - How much it will cost to attend - How frequently they will run - How it will be run - Does the student have to commit to all training days to get certificate etc. . .
-
My guess is that if the public arent involved you wont require planning permission - assuming you arent forming a new access onto a highway or constructing any buildings or diverting footpaths etc. You will have to ensure you dont cause a nuisance - main problem being sound levels to neighbours - but this would probably be an environmental matter. I know of one other similar track - good luck. . .
-
PRECISELY. Its a team sport. 99% of the crowd just want to see their team win - they dont care if a particular rider has made any new mods to his bike. Actually - the bikes have less character now. Going back to my experiences of Wimbledon in the 60s it was possible to recognise any of the teams bikes because of the individual quirks they had, style of handlebars etc. It meant you could tell who might be a substitute in a race by seeing the bike wheeled out - before it was announced. Not that this has much to do with crowd size differences. . .
