As I said he's not (wasn't) a Speedway fan and took time to realise it's full of self obsession. The product was decimated prior to Supremo's contribution. There just isn't the fan base in Peterborough to sustain EL Speedway - as others are now finding. Good numbers for play offs but not enough regulars. In my opinion people make too much of Sullivans brief management tenure - what Frost has always needed is a Ford.
-
Half those fans stopped turning up. Frost is a business man not a Speeway fan. As I said on tuther forum, Yes feels like a kick in the nads - but from a business perspective don't blame them at all. Place to be.
-
Most certainly. No worse gaters paradise than Prague.
-
Still think you have reasonable top 6, Dilger a surprise as very slow last season. What a wife, Prague the worst track and racing in GP calendar but without doubt best nightlife. Enjoy! Happy New Year.

Excellent news for Glasgow Speedway. Kings Lynn have proved what you can do with your own stadium and dedicated team. They also went into the local football scene too. Sadly this could never happen at Peterborough. Too reliant on the Showground owners and houses moving ever closer. Great to have a foreseeable future.

Stokes nowhere near ready.

Without doubt.

Agree will do very well to maintain his average. Not so sure it's a title winning team but certainly an exciting one. Just hope to see the same 7 most matches - unfortunately with all the doubling up doubt that will be the case. I'm expecting (R/R) and (G) to be regular team members.
-
There is a difference between knowing when assembling a team and finding out a day before the press release. Can't believe they would put together a team hoping no one would notice. Also screwing up another riders season by making changes prior to tapes up. There are 3 teams in this situation - obviously not that clear at the time.

Speedway is not a business anymore, in the true sense. Businesses have to be profitable to continue or go under. Speedway clubs rarely appear to make money or even break even. Therefore adhering to your 'business model', the sport would be non existent years ago. Without volunteers I would guess very few, if any, clubs would survive.
-
That's 3 of you in less than half an hour. Just takes 1 or 2 to give it a go. Increases awareness, make a few quid, have a good night out and make new fwends. Everyone's a winner.
-
That's a lot of pressure / expectation on a 16/17 year old riding new tracks. Achieving his starting average would be a good season.
-
Maybe offer your services. It's not easy to get enough volunteers to organise these events - many hands an all. Perhaps you could create the comraderie Edinburgh appear to have.

Speedway Star - Can I Have My Money Back?
Hodgy replied to Rob Lee's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
SS is still a great mag. Times have changed with the intro of social media, not always breaking news now. Like to see a few more 'where are they now' articles. Not so keen on the black and white vintage stuff as can't relate, understand many can and do. Late 70's onwards is my earliest memories. Had a subscription for many years now - not only is it much better value but drops through the door every Thurs morning. Local shop orders or supermarket searches very often led to disappointment. -
You win nothing in June.
-
Usually the case but Edinburgh bucked the trend last season. Cleaned up without a big hitting reserve.
-
Peterborough took this stance a couple of seasons ago with Andersen and Batchelor. Swindon purchase or going nowhere - overruled by the BSPA and went on loan. How can this still be happening and be so inconsistent? Oh yes, it's Speedway.

Great interview with newby Sam Chapman in last weeks SS. Gave an excellent insight into what it takes to start and continue riding Speedway. Especially for those less fortunate than some. Great read. -
Tai Woffinden Misses Next Years El
Hodgy replied to phillipsr's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Don't blame Woffinden, blame the people that run Elite League Speedway. It's not attractive in terms of pay rates or consistency. Poland and Sweden, possibly Denmark have all overtaken the once leading Speedway Nation. You go where the work is that supports your ultimate goals. Why so bitter... -
Sand in thousands.

Thanks PP but have a family milestone birthday which has been planned for yonks. Would really have liked to attend this meeting, unfortunately there are only 2 family members that still follow Speedway - changing the date was not an option. Appreciate the feedback.

Maybe I am naive, as you are more privileged to the facts, do tell. You answered your own question for me. If someone is willing to give up their own time in order to facilitate the clubs survival and take on the day to day running that's a fair contribution to me.
-
Put as much money in as you want, without people prepared to take on the day to day running, on a predominantly voluntary basis I assume - you still have no club.
