And why shouldn't they go to Tenerife?
-
So blinkered, some posters! Are promoters not allowed to have a working holiday, or even a holiday then? If they have made a 'profit' from their Speedway business, how do they plow even a penny back into facilities at a stadium where the majority are merely tenants? If the costs are, as someone suggested around £1000, to attend, what difference would that mean, adding £1000 to a track's overall budget for the year? That £1000 (and more) can be wiped out in quick time by a rain off.

Phil Morris CEO of British Speedway.

It wasn't meant to be an "I know something you don't know." statement. It was just in response to the question as to whether Phil has achieved anything this year. Just saying that there are some positives that will hopefully bear fruit. -

It is not my place to give details, but there are some innovative plans being put into place. -

It's not so much what he has changed for this year, but more the 'irons he has in the fire' he has started on behind the scenes for the future. -
NDLRC take 2 Sunday 15th October
Gambo replied to Neila's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
At the time of the line-up being compiled, Dan was unsure whether he would be fit for racing. He did a couple of 'test' laps at Leicester last night, as did Lee Complin, who fell. The meeting was cancelled without a race being started. -
Poole v Glasgow Championship Final 2nd Leg 11/10/23
Gambo replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Are you going to report yourself to the mods for name calling? -
If a deal doesn't happen, Chapman surely just gets the tangible assets value (air fence, lights tractors) if they can be sold on. So no need to be greedy?

He did not prove anything. Merely elicited an opinion. There were no figures (from either side) to prove or disprove viability.
-
Surely it should be up to BE to PROVE that Speedway/Stox is not viable.
-
A business model for Speedway is irrelevant. The viability of Speedway is irrelevant. The fact that someone is prepared to refurbish the stadium and run the two sports is surely an argument FOR the viability of the sport(s). BE's failure to comply with the planning & safety requirements throughout their ownership, failure to provide and fund an alternative site for a stadium, ignoring local residents opposition for the redevelopment etc. should also be taken into account in rejecting their appeal.

SGP wild cards 2024
Gambo replied to longmeadow's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If any of the 'banned' riders are to be allowed to compete in the GP's, surely they should take the same qualifying route that others have to, and therefore not be in the actual GP series until 2025? -
Matt Ford said that his (and I presume all CL Clubs) 'office costs' of around £12,000 are covered by the Discovery payment. By office costs, I presume that is his club's contribution to the running of the Rugby based HQ.

I would just like to say thanks to the forum members who are looking in to the proceedings and keeping us aware of what is going on. I watch a bit when able, but, like others, miss large sections and are not aware sometimes who is actually questioning and responding. Can't believe that they've spent nearly 3 days debating 3G pitches!!
-
Because they know that a stand-alone stadium needs Stox (and other users) as a support, so are mainly concentrating on the Speedway side of it, as if to prove their point. They ignore the Stox input as much as they can.
-
All this discussion regarding the 3G pitch is a bit puzzling to me. Aren't BE planning to include one?
-
He (Neil Allen) is appearing on behalf of the council, not a witness for SCS.
-
Maybe their QC is labouring the point as a filibuster tactic to prevent Matt Ford giving evidence at a crucial time, whilst the developers objectively have the upper hand.
-
A guest who is eligible for the home leg (+5% of the missing rider's average) may therefore not be eligible for the away leg anyway.
-
Good tactics from the questioner. Knows the witness is like a rabbit in headlights and continually using a minor point to make it a bigger issue than what it really is, to sway the whole process.
