Always very sad when speedway loses one, a wee bit before my time but a very under-rated rider. RIP Bob....

Only just seen this, always sad when speedway loses someone, or anyone suffering a loss myself having just had to deal with a close family member pass away. George rode in the very first Hull Vikings match at The Boulevard for Sunderland Stars in 1971 I didn't go, parents not interested & apprently too young to go alone. Is it true George achieved his 'Gentleman George' nickname as he was well-mannered & spoken & never deliberately did any untoward on the track ?. RIP George.....

Imagine if the sport was motox not speedway, how much do you get paid for that ?I more than most in this sport know all about costs, time and everything else that goes with riding in the national league, I’ve ridden more meetings in the national/anatuer/conference league than any other rider ever, over the years I posted on here and numerous platforms how the league should be run, what riders should be in it, the maximum they should earn, how riders can actually make money at this level or at least break even and just about every other aspect of the 3rd tier but it always fell on deaf ears

Yes: I used to buy tyres, and other items, for a rider starting out in speedway, and drive him about using my own diesel. They have got to serve their appenticeship first.

Buxton need a good team manager 😉
-
Decent side with continuity in the key spots - reserves could be a weakness but overall i reckon they will be fine top 5 spot awaits 😉

That’s the team we all wanted. Fair play to Bates for sorting it we all owe him a big thanks another year of speedway at Sheffield is good news and that team is as good as any. Jack, Chris and Picko will be a great trio of headleaders again im hoping Chris can lift his form back to 2024 standard. Leon and Anders in the main body of the team will have to find another gear again mainly away from home. Jye and Killeen for me are good signings at this level and will stay at reserve. Killeen hopefully with the right people around him will find his feet in the premiership

No Surprises then welcome back again Picko.

That'll give us a clearer picture for sure.

https://www.speedwaystar.net Gonna give this a read tonight, see if anything is mentioned about a possible UK return. I can’t see it personally but we’ll see. Also an interview with the legend that is Siggy in this weeks edition! My childhood idol 😁

Assuming the Wolves Trio rumour is correct then it'll be a spearhead of Woffinden, Brennan and Becker. Throw in Jenkins and Edwards too.
-
Pete Adams seems to be who they’re hinting at. Olly Allen and Rosco could also be in the mix potentially so there seems to be a few options. Maybe it’ll be none of them!
-
Roscoe?
-
Brennan has to be nailed on now also.

He was a fabulous Speedway rider he really was. It’s staggering to see such a drop off of top American talent compared to what we saw in the 80’s and 90’s. Penhall obviously, Sigalos, Shawn and Kelly Moran, Lance King, Sam Ermolenko, Boogaloo Schwartz, John Cook, Rick Miller, and then a little later came Hancock and Billy Hamill. America were a real powerhouse in World Speedway and then it suddenly seemed to all dry up for whatever reason.

I totally agree. It is just the apathy by those who promote/run meetings who pay scant regard for the up and coming riders. I really have never fathomed out why they ignore the novices who have invested in machinery and equipment only to be told to get lost because it does not suit those who run meetings. Over the years I have seen far too many riders turn up for a second half outing only to be told they cannot race and that is a disgrace. Why anyone would want to continue attend meetings when those in charge treat supporters and these novices with such contempt.

Picko has just been confirmed as Sheffield's final signing so that adds fuel to the Wolves Trio Rumour.

Picko confirmed !

Pee taking aside agreed he was an awesome rider super talented another one who had a bad crash that blunted the end of his career a bit. I can remember a world team cup at Coventry where it was a critical race and he was up against Hans Neilson , Sam gated and you could see Hans was faster but Sam held him off with brilliant trackcraft for all four laps.
