  1. I watch too much Yes Minister.  To try to rip off a Bernard Woolley Quote:-

Glasgow find loopholes in the rules

    You bend the rules

Poole cheat and moan (tongue firmly in cheek!)

I suspect this might have been another Michael Max masterpiece - his knowledge of the rules has always been phenomenal

You have no idea how close that came to happening in Grangemouth yesterday.  There were locals primed to go and that was when the police extended the blockade.  Would have been more fun if they had let the locals at them lol.  The only people impacted by what they did yesterday were contract workers.  Ineos workers who couldnt get into work were just sent home but will be paid.  Not all contractors - many of whom are on the construction/electrical side - have the same luxury

I never trust the Met Office! But more seriously, that's an outlier compared to the other forecasts I have seen. It's been fairly dry this morning. Even if there is rain, the predictions I have seen have been 1-2mm, so I don't see an issue, other than having said it, I will be proved very wrong.

The metoffice is the only one to trust

For Scotland forecasts Windy Wilson is the way to go or Sean Batty.  No point in looking at the Met office forecasts for Scotland they are rarely accurate

When he is predicting Weather forecasts from 300 mls away,  perhaps better just to accept the situation( whether right or wrong.)His intended visit to Scunthorpe proving what could happen regarding the weather.Len Silver often made the same decision regarding the weather.

I believe he has already said that he was speaking with people in Scotland and using the weather forecasts that the club were apparently using so thats hardly an accurate comment - he wasnt doing any predicting himself.  We all know speedway is in trouble.  It needs the few customers it still has to speak up about things that irk them.  Promotions may or may not be able to do anything about it but it could give them a reason to look at things differently.  Not really sure attacking another supporter who is questioning a decision is really the way ahead - disagreeing is healthy tho

My estimation is about 500 people on the average race night, yes. But that's a very unscientific manual head count, not from anywhere official, so I could be wrong. To me it definitely feels the crowd is smaller than back in 2018/19. And as I've said before, for all the great stuff they do, I don't feel like the promotion are very good at promoting the product. We're spoiled rotten by the racing at Ashfield - both the track and the riders - but I do think they really need to get someone in to help them advertise better. It's not that they don't do anything, it just seems to lack consistency.

Thats sad to hear, sounds like the inability to communicate and promote is really biting hard.  It used to be a worry when crowds fell to 800!

Their priority is always going to be to try not to mess around the home fans, or riders. Any given week, there might be 500 people. Almost all of them most weeks, are there for the Tigers. You can’t please everyone, but if you piss off all the home fans, you can’t make even a vaguely sustainable club.

Hopefully I am mis reading this Noelinho, I assume the home crowd hasn’t fallen to 500?

What is the other reason for call off since you seem to be “in the know”.

In fairness to Lucifer Sam, he is one of the most travelled speedway fans on here and travels up and down the country to watch speedway, not just his team. As such he is probably pretty knowledgeable from the side of how fans view and are affected by things. Rather than attack people like that perhaps they should be listened to for the future of the sport

Hi Lioness, i messaged you a couple of months ago about pinning the Championship signings thread for this season. Thanks for the lack of a reply and the lack of any action either.

Oh you are very welcome (said she sarcastically)

Thanks for ignoring my reply telling you I could not do so and suggesting you contact Phil

Also shouldn’t be aired across the forum as it’s not the place for it. In the past both have moved on. Just got to clowns behind a keyboard thinking they’re clever posting about it bet neither would say anything to him or have a clue what they’re on about apart from reading an article in a local rag.

It shouldnt be aired across the forum - are you for real? This 'clown' behind a keyboard thinks you must be looking in the mirror and referring to yourself.  He beat her up. It was reported in the local papers.  As far as I am aware there is no case out of libel on the local newspaper, now I wonder why?  There are consequences to actions and one of them in this instance is knowing what he did.  Theres loyalty to your team and theres blind loyalty.  I suggest you stick to the first!

Alain Baxter.   Very much an innocent party, he used an inhaler bought over the counter in America which -- although branded as the same stuff -- had in it a load of stronger stuff than the same inhaler sold in the UK.   He would have been the first-ever Brit to win an Olympic medal for ski-ing.  A shame.

It was a shame, I was gutted for him at the time, but the regs are written in such a way that the onus is on the athlete to check anything before taking it.

  10. Night nurse contains pseudoephedrine so it would cause a positive drug test.  There are plenty of things - especially cold and hayfever remedies- that can potentially cause a positive drugs test.  The Scottish skier whose name escapes me was stripped of an Olympic medal for using vicks.

Btw, I definitely would not trust google as 100% accurate, I'll stick to the 4 years of study and exams I did for that lol.  Basic rule of thumb, if its not on the NHS or BNF websites check ;) them instead!

You are 100% right though, we have to wait and see what the more detailed analysis shows and take it from there

Which has fundamental mistakes in it.  They say the drugs being taken "contain elements of Morphine", which is not the case.  The drugs Zapain (which they misspell with an 'e' on the end) and Co-codomol which will, in fact, make the body produce the morphine and do not contain Morphine.

Zapain is just branded Co-codamol, they are the same drug

Would Speedway even have a list of permissible counter drugs etc.

Unless it has changed in the last few years, I can confirm that the riders get a list of items they cant take and the substances they need to look for in OTC medication that they cant take.

I got a copy of one from a rider when I was doing my pharmacy exams quite a few years ago
