    Glasgow 2015

Wouldn't pay a transfer fee for Summers, hold out for the loan. .... or get that cheque book out again and make Max Fricke a Tiger

Or track curator or clerk of the course. Probably need extra bodies for the air fence. 7 decent riders would be good too. Obviously assuming no change in directors of the club You not fancy team managers job George? could job share with Stewart Dickson

    Glasgow 2014

I was quite positive a month or so when news seemed to be that, due to the loss of Sky TV revenue, the leagues were to be restructured. The premier league to be on a 38.5 points limit and the elite loosing the top earners. A new lower limit would reduce costs and provide a more achievable stepping stone for NL riders making progress. Seems logical to me then you hear it's just going to stay the same with the same points limit, how does that work? You'll still lose the top earners from the elite and still have 12-15 riders riding in both leagues! going to be massive rider shortage. When you think of it the Glasgow team that finished the season combined averages were 35.50, so it would still be a decent standard given that we would have points to play with. Big decisions need to be made at the AGM although unfortunately these decisions never come and I don't believe unless there is a major shake up that Glasgow will be a part of the league structure. Unless someone with a lot of cash to launder surplus income wants to take the reigns. Stoke and Isle of Wight dropped back in to the NL and seem to be doing ok but would an isolated team like Glasgow survive in the NL? Given that our nearest rivals would be a 4 hour drive south. Where would the riders come from? James McBain, Ryan McDonald, Tommy Fenwick... where would the heat leaders come from? How much would we have to pay riders to travel to Glasgow?

    Glasgow 2014

Hopefully with the £5k raised by supporters, the sale of Josh Grajczonek to Poole and the potential James Grieves Farewell Fence Fund meeting will all but pay for the air fence. Then the promotion can get on with punting advertising space on the new fence to bring in some much needed revenue in to actually keep the club going. It has to be PL next season if anything and whatever our budget is going to be one thing we definitely cannot afford is to have as anywhere close to as poor a season again. Judging by the fact that only 3 riders were asked about 2014 at the end of season interviews and the rest were told thanks for your efforts see you somewhere next season. Our first 3 riders will be Anders Thomsen (4.11) Joey Ringwood (3.55) Henning Bager (5.09+). One rider I would be on the phone to very quickly is Sam Masters to fill one of the heat leader roles. He favourited a tweet from Joe Screen about being Glasgow's new no.1 so may be interested if the call comes. As this is fantasy time of year before reality strips it down signing by signing I'll throw my hat in the ring.... 1. Richard Lawson (8.28) or Kim Nilsson (8.24) 2. Henning Bager (5.09) 3. Sam Masters (7.43) 4. David Bellego (6.36) or Dakota North (6.38 5. Kauko Nieminen (7.25) 6. Anders Thomsen (4.11) 7. Joey Ringwood (3.55) The number 4 position is debatable depending on final green sheets. Could be Matthew Wethers, Robin Aspegren, Ulrich Ostergaard, Rusty Harrison, David Howe, Matej Kus, Mark Lemon....... Is James Grieves definitely finished
  5. Been a completely disastrous season for us, currently combined CMA's are 35.88. Technically speaking we could replace one of our 3 pointers with Ben Barker and still be inside the 42.5 point limit. Probably teams been fined for fielding understrength teams stronger than ours at the moment. The difference between us and Edinburgh at the moment is Craig Cook, literally! 10.52 between the teams. Looking on the bright side we should have 2.50 points to play with with a 38.5 limit next season when everyone else is trying to get under it. Even Sheffield are over 40. Edinburgh would hypothetically need to lose Cook for a 3 pointer and shave a little off elsewhere. Forgive me if I'm a little disappointed it's "only" David Bellego that's replacing Anders. Would've made for interesting viewing and a decent crowd with maybe Ryan Fisher. As it stands Edinburgh are strong favourites to complete the clean sweep this season. I have no doubt though the 7 Tigers to a man will give everything they have today, it just may be enough.

    Glasgow Sign Dakota North

Don't have enough matches to get an average only 3 away matches. Dakota North is very much a rider who will hit the ground running in a monumental effort to lift us off the bottom of the pile, also a rider who I fully expect will be elsewhere next season. I would say the only reason he has signed is because he needs meetings as his Polish outings have dried up and struggling of late in EL. Welcome to our midden, Dakota.

    Glasgow Tigers Sign Anders Thomsen

5 home 5 away left. Pity he didn't ride last week against Edinburgh home & away. enough for a average not enough to become an asset. If he can ride Ashfield like Nicki Barrett he'll do ok. I would imagine he'll get more than the 1 or 2 matches Tornquist did. Definitely a view to next season.
  8. Is that Monarchs by heat 12 ?
  9. Think if we don't sign a heat leader before then a lot of the hardcore fans will be watching the tennis too... Andy Murray or not. Joey Ringwood now has an average, I presume 3 or marginally above. Need to utilise the points we have, Ricky Ashworth would be nice.
  10. doesn't mean they can gate, just means they're better than Glasgow at it. which has been a major problem for us .

    Andre Compton Joins Glasgow

Don't agree. Personally think the "ex-GP star" statement was put out there to say we're not scraping the barrel to find a low cost rider to fill a hole. We're looking for a quality rider to excite the fans. putting together a competitive exciting winning team doesn't put enough bums on seats, though a team losing at home and not providing entertainment leaves plenty of empty seats it's finding the equilibrium that's difficult especially as 90% of our targets race in Poland. Perhaps it's no coincidence that Alun Biggart is in town when decisions are required, he is clearly an astute business man who knows how to give a speech, Colin Hamilton could easily have stood there and said the same words. The day to day promotional team are doing a good job but financial decisions are the job of the big boss.
  12. What exactly happened to James Wright? Couple of weeks ago he was doing fine averaging 8 at home and apart from an early stinker at Berwick was scoring 5/6/7 points away from home. Not Fantastic but not a disaster. scored 9 against Scunthorpe 12/5 then went to the British Final the following day and looked woefully out of his depth, that there was the turning point as his head is completely down now. Whether it's irrepairable damage I don't know. Don't know why Henning thought it was a good idea to buy equipment from Peter Juul Larsen? Take it last seasons equipment is gone as he seems to be struggling on with what he's got. How much would it "cost" to bring in a replacement rider? would there be better value outlaying for a new engine for Henning to be recouped from earnings of improved results? We have almost 1 point to play with just now but come the middle of June we will have over 4 to play with. In don't see any obvious changes that would help us much right now. Sad thing is in situations like Sunday is you very seldom get a press release from a rider who's neck is on the block. Only reaction from Sunday seems to have been from Screen, Jacobs & Grieves who are likely to be the only 3 not in danger and also a wild statement from the promotion. Be interesting to know James Wright's thoughts and if a return to the form of a couple of weeks ago is possible. My thoughts are to leave the team as it is until after the Leicester / Plymouth away meetings when Ringwood and Horwood get averages. for the balance of the team our best signing would be a 7 point rider in the place of one of the lower order eg Karlsson/Roynon in the place of Horwood/Ringwood/Jacobs as you're always going to be carrying one them in the main body, more likely Jacobs until at least August. Only I might add if Wright and Bager get back on the rails.

    Glasgow 2013

My concern is that we have of the current riders we have signed the only who will possibly improve on the average is James Wright. Joe Screen, James Grieves & Henning Bager will no doubt fluctuate around there current averages. No idea what Joe Jacobs will do I'm hoping he can at least achieve a 3.00 average. A decent season for Harley he could maybe hit 4-4.50. We have 5.30 left for final place and the general concensus is Charles Wright is the favourite, a tried and tested 4.00-4.50 reserve leaving us over a point below the points limit, but we really need a ready made second string because no matter if Harley could match this we need him dropping to reserve in his rookie season. I personally think Justin Sedgman is the ideal candidate for the job on a 4.99 average the rolling averages could possibly put Harley to reserve by the end of April. I know people question Sedgman's attitude but he seems to look up to Screeny as an idol, and he would end up partnering him in the team. I personally think with the collective experience of Sean Courtney, James Grieves & Joe Screen if they could get Justin Sedgman and James Wright back on the the rails we'll certainly push up the league a bit from certain wooden spoonists. I sincerely hope we are not about to sign another rookie Aussie, the only one worth the risk was Max Fricke. Incidentally though has it been confirmed that Harley is definitely getting a work permit? if he doesn't then we'd have 10.30 for 2 places..... Claes Nedermark & Charles Wright.

Whatever happened to the lad Brenton Barnfield? Sure he's been racing for a while in oz, he not getting his chance now? forgotten about?

    Glasgow 2013

Seems strange that there was a vote, I didn't think there could have been unless someone raised a concern, whether it was at the conference or a flea in someones ear before the conference. I'd definitely say Edinburgh had a right to object to it. Although if they did then they must have short memories, when Edinburgh moved to Powderhall they couldn't get a Saturday night so Glasgow allowed them to ride simultaneously with us on a Friday night for 8/9 years whilst we were racing at Blantyre 2 and we only moved because Billy King wanted dogs on a Friday night at Shawfield. It's about time we stood up to people and didn't just accept things as done, new promotion haven't even had a bike on track and been shafted twice already. Karma eventually runs it's course though.... Would be interested to know when Edinburgh were having discussions whether to run in 2013 or take a year out, I wonder if Glasgow taking the Friday night priority away from them was high up the list of pros.
