It seems to me that if mental health is to be treated in the same way as physical health then a 30 day ban for withholding services was not the way to go about things. If Cook is not riding because of mental health that is. If he was returning after a broken leg and kept pulling out of meetings because he wasn't fit I think the reaction would probably be the same, in that he shouldn't be back in the team until he's fit. I remember Lee Richardson getting quite a bit of stick when he first signed for Coventry because he had some kidney problem or something and kept declaring himself "fit" for meetings and then kept pulling out mid way through the meeting. Unfortunately in sport it's not like phoning into work and saying you're not going to be in today but you're letting your team mates and fans down if you're not able to complete the meeting. Maybe Cook feels obligated to turn out because of the team ethic in sport or that a facility may not be granted if he doesn't turn out, I don't know and as I've said before I don't really care, it's none of my business, obviously I wish him the best and a speedy recovery but what is my business is when I've paid my money for something and am not getting value for that money.

It's funny the different reactions to riders... Batchelor got absolutely slaughtered for not trying during the recent pairs meeting, I have seen exactly the same kind of attitude from Cook for Leicester, granted he wasn't pulling wheelies at the back but he was clearly not trying and pulling out of moves and pulling up at the back. Batch clearly didn't fancy the track and was obviously in fear of his safety

That track that TB feared for his safety on, according to you, was the same one Bomber set a new track record on.

    Almost :D

    Csaba Hell

Was he the rider Glasgow signed same time as Nagy ?

Only other Hungarians I can think of from the upright era are

Sandor Thiyani and Attila Stefani who rode for Oxford as Mark Frost

In theory yes, but would have meant dumping a rider whereas Glasgow had a space to fill in their team. Sometimes you have to be “lucky” with how situations arise.

Also not sure Redcar have the financial clout of Glasgow to make it happen.

Bears were always 3rd favourites in their Play off group, the injury to Charles makes it even less likely now.

    Scunthorpe vs Redcar final

    It's a funny old game

Absolutely. However,  it is worth considering that if SW managed to completely flush out his system in the time between the two tests, then more than likely, what was detected on Tuesday would have been residual from something substantial in his system when he rode at Wolverhampton the previous evening.

What's it got to do with SW ?

From what I know about drug testing.

You pee into a sterilised container while being watched. The sample is divided into two.

    Sample A and Sample B

In the Olympics etc samples are sent to the lab for testing.

If A is positive the competitor can choose to have B tested( maybe in a different lab ?)

Obviously at Speedway when they have sample they do a diptest of A if it comes up non negative then Sample B is sent to a lab for testing.

Some drugs both medical and recreational can leave detectable traces in your system for weeks never mind days.

As an example when we had paper banknotes if you did a finger swab of anyone who worked in an environment where lots of notes were handled. Most would show traces of Cocaine.

With an ankle injury probably wants a smooth track.

Do people actually take the pairs seriously then, I always thought it was just a bit of a joke tbh.

So why didn't Poole put a fit rider in.

Ben Cook is a great little rider. His brother ain't too shabby. Why not use Zach, Kyle or Anders at least those three are actual racers.

  6. It would have to be a monsoon for it to be called off. App I use has no rain after 11am today.

Amazes me that all these weather Apps use the same information and all usually give different forecasts.

There was some heavy showers from 3am but none since 6:30. I'm about a mile from the track.

It looks like Birmingham's easy option rather than to sign a permanent replacement for Nick Morris was to book Josh Pickwickering for as many of the remaining fixtures as possible (except for the meeting up in Edinburgh of course) - A semi-permanent guest #1 kind of arrangement kind of thing is probably better than having someone different every meeting.

    Little known fact

Charles Dickens favourite Speedway rider was Josh Pickwickering.

I read it in the papers.

If you are not giving yourself every opportunity to do well in your chosen sport, you only have yourself to blame if you don’t do as well as you could. Why have that kebab after a meeting when you could have prepared a chicken salad a few hours earlier?

I remember being at Subway in Poole and Darcy Ward came in. He ordered a green leaf salad. Had the knowledge to eat healthily. Want to stay healthy or lose weight? Stay off carbs and processed foods. Carbs especially.

I'm so old I can remember the stories of a former Poole rider  apparently sitting in the kiddies train at Macdonalds after Poole meetings

Bullets travel to Oxford on Wednesday, with r/r at #1 for Connor Coles, and Ben Trigger guesting for Greg Blair at #3.

Mason Watson will take over as captain.

What's wrong with the man off the telly ?

You really have a self entitled attitude as have a few off your self entitled fellow fans.

Oxford do what is best for Oxford it’s as simple as that , not what can we do to get one over Poole.

The arrogance really is why other fans can’t stand Poole or some of there fans.

Plus SS hasn't been on to post yet.

They sound worried. In the article it says it is to assure 1st place. Even though they are ahead of us and got the BP, nice to see we can still scare teams into changes :D

It says we want to finish top as you also want your team too.

Be honest whoever finishes second is lumbered with Glasgow and Redcar.

Also gains the club an asset that even your promoters/manager would love to have onboard.

Imagine being top and still changing the team because you are worried about everyone else.

What like the Poo Pirates do every year

Maybe as the self proclaimed biggest club in Britain you shouldve gazumped everyone and signed him to replace Adam Roynon

  13. When the original meeting was called off and the new date announced. I messaged an old boy who I occasionally get tickets for as he's unable too. He said he couldn't make the restaging date so I replied to the email the club had sent requesting a refund. Got the refund in a couple of days.

I feel far too many are quick to criticise all the ticketing arrangements.
