No problem with how home tracks prepare the circuit, part of the game.

One rule change I would like thou is any team 6 or more behind gets gate choice in each subsequent heat , only being able to use one tactical sub is a bit limiting.

Wasn't it the late Jon Cook that suggested the losing team could pick any two gates, so pick one and four, two and three etc. That could open a can of worms.

    Why not?

Because Oxford have a lot of fight spirit in them.

Something I think a lot of teams are lacking, we were there for the taking last night and The Tigers tried to pounce but The Cheetahs were too quick

I'll admit that I thought we'd gone to top heavy in the team building. I'm happy to be wrong.

  3. There was the Scottish Skier who bought If I remember correctly Vicks Nasal Spray over the counter in America/Canada and failed a test as the one over there contains something on the banned list whereas the UK one is OK.

I always find it amazing how many professional cyclists suffer from asthma

  4. If AB signing for Glasgow then it's obviously with a view to next season. Probably means Bomber staying too as I'm sure he is mentoring AB.

You'd be foolish to drop Ace Pijper next year as with this season under his belt he could put a few points on his average (whichever one counts at the time )

I agree in part to the sentiment but with beer and fish and chips you always have options/alternatives but with a sports venue it is slightly different and Ipswich have come near to folding in the past and thanks to the Louis family and some great supporters and sponsors the sport has fought off closure. With a venue like Foxhall, if it Speedway stops it will not come back, not in this day and age notwithstanding the Spedeworth fixtures currently planned, Spedeworth would simply pick up the slack in available dates/weekly meetings permitted by the local council. Plenty who live near to the track would like to see it closed and one or two presenters on BBC Radio Suffolk have been lees than enthusiastic about the Witches and banger racing.

Most on here  realise change is needed but those with the ability to instigate this are unlikely to rock the boat and try something different. It starts with affordability and stop the nonsense of riders demands. It can not afford most of those who grace the tracks but no one has the balls to say enough is enough, the business model is flawed, the participants think they are owed a living from the sport and the club owners treat the fans with such disdain, is it any wonder the sport is on its knees.

No one involved has the balls to do the right thing except one club, who now plough their own furrow. Hopefully a few more will follow and the likes of Vatcher and many other cronies will be out of a job.

Maybe if the local radio have presenters who are less than enthusiastic about bangers and speedway, then a few of you need to contact the station director to remind them about impartiality. Any dislike or disagreement with the sports shouldnt be publicised on air.

  6. With no knowledge of what happened here's my best guess from reading everything so far.Except the first bit which is why he missed meetings last week

NM 10 days or so ago had a big get off in Polska and withdrew from the meetings in the next week

Turns up at Brum and selected for test  he either took the first which was deemed non negative, or he refused to take the test. Clarification will no doubt come in 4-6 weeks time when the SCB can arrange a Zoom meeting To arrange a date for the hearing.

If he refused first test he's out for 2yrs after the fine is paid.

If he took first test and then due to a non negative result they wanted a 2nd, maybe he couldn't pee any more. Or is 2nd test a blood test doubt they'd need no more than a prick test similar to what diabetics use.

As far as I'm concerned I hope it's a case of after the crash he has taken either prescribed or non prescribed painkillers  first test deemed not negative and was unable to have a tinkle.

If it was recreational/alcohol then obviously a completely different matter

Speedway is my favourite sport and so I pay for the full annual BSN package.

However with only limited time available I only watch replays so my comments only refer to them.

Graphics--- team pictures too small and so individual photos of the seven riders and their names are even smaller and almost illegible.

Font-- the type of font used is too “square” meaning, for example, that the graphic for heats 3, 5, 6, 8, and 9 all look the same!

Reruns-- are shown with the upcoming heat number so, for example, you think you are watching the rerun of Heat 14 when it's actually the rerun of Heat13!

Streaming ---Worst feature is no way of ‘fast forward’ or ‘rewind’ (in 2022 there was a feature of plus or minus 10 seconds which was very useful). Trying to move the ‘blob’ on the timeline requires too precise action with the mouse and the size of the blob hides the time you are trying to forward to! Replace the blob with a thin vertical line? The new feature of watching individual heats by clicking on a heat number in the results means going in and out of full screen every time! The two left and right arrows on the full replays line have been moved to above the right hand end--- not as good! In 2022 the matches in the replay column showed if it had already been watched--- 2023 not! Shame!

I hope my comments may be read by someone in BSN who will regard them as constructive criticism and can bring about improvements in BSN in future for all its loyal customers!

Maybe just go on their website and use the contact Us section to send then your list of complaints/suggestions.

I've just read that in speedway star, Dan says he was sacked by txt message. Pretty cowardly and gutless in my opinion. I'm sure he would have accepted it better with a phone call or better still face to face

I'm sure I read somewhere after the sacking that the brothers preferred method of contact is through their father.

Methanol is principle a renewable and clean fuel, but it still produces some CO2 and nitrous oxide. The amount of methanol burned is probably also tiny in comparison to getting the riders and spectators to meetings, although as crowds have declined, arguably the more environmental the sport has become... :D

Speedway should really be thinking about going down the route of electric engines, to which it should be well suited as its short sprints. Okay, you'll need to charge the batteries, but electricity is not all fossil fuel produced.

Electric speedway also wouldn't need on-demand power. Tracks could install a wind turbine and/or solar panels and charge up the batteries over the course of the week between meetings.

They'd need to find a way of generating power from rainfall.

  10. Would he be able to ride in meetings under SCB regulations having been banned for refusing to take a drugs test.

His ban may have expired but maybe the authorities would expect him to jump through a few hoops.

TBH with his natural ability and some decent equipment I could see him easily being a top second string/third heat leader at CL level.

  11. Maybe KB needs someone to take him under their wing and nurture him for a season or two. He's been passed from pillar to post around the northern teams, along with Covid-19 cropping up.

Maybe an opportunity to ride for Workington under the new regime could be the spark that reignites his career.
