  1. I think £20 for one day, £35 for the two days giving a small discount is a reasonable price, maybe a bit more off if you buy in advance.

Anything more than that is a rip off considering its the PL fours and not Elite/International superstars that's being paid for to watch.!

PL riders will always put on a good show

GP riders admittedly on a top notch track do put on a show. But imagine a PLRC with no primadonnas dropping out at Torun it would be fantastic

  2. Oh my god i have not stopped laughing since i watched Strudwick rip up the shale in the USA, Beaten by the girl which has to be best, not only did she beat him at Eastbourne and then pulled his pants down again in the interval at Perris, Come on Niall look at the funny side of life.

Time to sit back and say that you almost finished on a high about 37,000ft on an aircraft lol.

So whats the next move for the Club, i do hope that they are going to have some practice soon as i want to watch the team have a few laps.

Don't think I've ever seen NS ride but then again Catinthehat I don't know if I've ever seen you ride,if you have then fairplay but something you should bear in mind is that over the years there's been many a rider who was a slowburner before everything clicking.

  3. The online version is actually more reliable. No postman to worry about and can pick it up anywhere in the world.

But if you're in a crap reception area a paper copy is far more reliable in your van on your lunch break

Renewed my subscription last week and have probably had less than 5 late deliveries in the 15 years or so I've subscribed

i'd like to know if i could have my subscription put on hold over the winter months, 90% of the "news" is on here days before it's in SS and the rest of it is just pre written features about "the good old days" yaaaaaawn

Bet if you ring and ask for a bespoke subscription ie season preview issue to 1st issue after 31st October they would sort something out

  4. I saw a live band at a Scottish Open at Powderhall but can't remember the name or the year. They had that 'it seemed like a good idea when we took the booking' kind of look about them as they belted out their rocky songs to about half-a-dozen mildly interested supporters. I have a recollection of a band playing at Shawfield but that could just be age.

Oh aye, I saw Mai Tai at the Amsterdam world final. Wow, we won't see the likes of those days again...

I thought it was Milli Vanilli ??? Though drinks had been taken and far to many if I'm honest

Also didn't Amsterdam have a Frank Sinatra impersonator who won there version of Opportunity Knocks ?

    I mean that most sincerely

Wasn't David Walsh involved with or sponsored by a Glaswegian band back in the day? Haven't a clue Stadium Glasgow were using at the time

  5.

I'd put forward 1987 at Mildura:

    1 Steve Regeling 14

    2 Steve Baker 12

    3 Glyn Taylor 10

    4 Ashley Norton 10

    5 Craig Hodgson 10

    6 Mick Poole 9

    7 Dave Jackson 9

    8 Troy Butler 8

    9 Tony Rose 8

    10 Stephen Davies 7

    11 David Cheshire 6

    12 Mark Fiora 4

    13 Bill Barrett 4

    14 Chris Watson 4

    15 Nigel Alderton 3

    16 Nigel Tremelling 2

    17 Paul Wheatland 0R

    17 Simon Lock 0R

Steve Regeling averaged less than 5 for King's Lynn in 1986,Stephen Davies was a reserve in in the same team, while Fiora and Cheshire were National League heat leaders. Poole averaged less than 5 for King's Lynn in 1987 and Steve Baker had a similar average in 1985, his last British season. Hodgson was a second-string for Peterborough in 1987.

Glynn Taylor was near the end of his career, while Troy Butler had averaged 2.22 in his only British season to date (1985 at Oxford). He did go on to be a second string in the BL and somehow made it to the 1989 World Final.

Troy Butler made it to the 1989 World Final by doing the qualifiers and doing enough in each one to get through, same as the other finalists. He also won the Australian title and NLRC

  6. Surely the best idea if it fits into your plans is go to the Island for a few days while taking in a visit to the Speedway. Making it known to hotel,B&B,campsite,Pubs etc that you're there for the Speedway they then would hopefully look at the Speedway as an asset to to the Island and could possibly bring in some advertising revenue for the club.

I know my visits to Speedway are few and far between but when I go if I'm asked why I'm in that neck of the woods I say it's for Speedway.

Every little helps as they say.

  7. Glad to hear James is concentrating on improving his gating..If he gets that sorted he will be formidable at this level...Whatever happens his style will continue to make him a fans favourite.but to move on to a higher level quick gating is vital....

Maybe he needs some tips from his namesake Mr Sarjeant now there's a lad who can gate and IMO from what I've seen the vast majority are down too good timing.

  8. Believe it was Barry Meeks? I spoke to Ian Cartwright a couple of years ago (rode for Crewe during the seventies) and he confirmed that it was big 'un...around a cricket pitch!

Do you reckon we could get one round the pitch in the University Parks though it'd be a restricted view with the pavilion inside one of the bends

  9. Lunna had his first year at Scunthorpe and showed himself to be talented with a large touch of harum scarum riding.

If he can settle down and show some consistency he will be a good signing for Glasgow.

Good luck to the young man !!!!!

    Sounds like the White Lindback

Never see him last year but if he's a bums on seats kind of rider it's only good for the sport
