Workington v Redcar 20/04/24 3pm BSN
gazzac replied to topaz325's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think you're right, heat of the moment can get to all of us, I've done it watching the tv at some meetings, although try not to in the stadium, but a planned interveiw like Woffinden's is unforgivable really. As Poole Keith has said there is an amazing crop of young( mostly Spanish and some Italians) who conduct themselves so well in a foreign language, they're a credit to moto gp. Don't ever remember Mark Loram seeming it necessary to drop the bomb in the heat of the moment or in an interview. -

Most Europeans speak really good English and sure the F word is one of the first they learn. I watch quite a lot of the European stuff on Netflix etc, and even speaking in their own languages normally the F word( plus most of the 'others') don't need subtitles. -

So basically if your reserves first name was Lewis all ok, if not unhappy with the rules.... -
Ipswich Witches 2024 serious team predictions
gazzac replied to SpeedwayFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Can't think there would be any reason ( apart from giving one of the top 5 a move to the easier position for a confidence boost) to take him out of the reserve berth if he can stay there all season, opens up so many possibilities during the match to score good points and use him as a substitute. -
Exactly he should be given an opportunity to prove his rehabilitation, but for his and the victims sake should be nowhere near employment in the limelight of a sport or similar, especially speedway where 99.9% of the people involved know his previous.

Had the opportunity 5 years or so ago to continue a successful NDL with more teams, but seemed to be sacrificed because it encroached on the league above. Could see what was going to happen then and it's definitely gone the way it was obviously going to go, with the clamour for points lowering and the " it's a development league" , which drove out some of the experienced guys to help with the youngsters developing. I know cost were a problem, but lowering the points didn't really help the 'smaller' clubs and sure the likes of Eastbourne, Kent, and Mildenhall would have continued and thrived in a decent level NDL , certainly a time when Brennen, Edwards and Abblit seemed to develop ok at Eastbourne. Think this league will be lucky to survive as it's virtually no longer develops and it's not really a league.

Birmingham v Leicester 15th April 2024

Thomson possibly, Kemp seems to have been needing another season or 2 for the last 3 or 4, so seems to have got to his level. -

Only in the car park... -
You're right, it was just an answer to not performing in the big meetings, and although the travelling had a massive downside during the season in other meetings, was just to point out that once the travelling to Poland ceased he probably showed his true level on the biggest 2 meetings of the season for Glasgow, even at No2. Think it pretty nailed on he'll improve at Poole, the really interesting one will be Birmingham, certainly started well there. Being a long term Eastie fan saw him as a tiny lad before the meetings at Arlington, suppose makes it more personal with his progress having seen him ride for about 18 years. Don't think he'll be a world beater, but sure he'll become a proper heat leader in the next couple of seasons.

Did Tom not get 9+2 and 9+1 in the grand final win last year? Would of thought that was a pretty good return and certainly not absent when it really mattered. I do think the biggest reason was probably the travelling which seemed to take its toll at times and the move to Poole will move him up a notch again.

Whether the decision is right or wrong ( personally think under the circumstances it was right, especially as its 28 days) and it's so unlikely to make any difference to the outcome of the eventual league champions I would imagine, as the teams likely to get to the playoffs won't be affected by it one way or another through a full season.

Leicester vs King’s Lynn - Thursday 21st March
gazzac replied to SpeedwayFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The tractor he used had a wheel track 2 gates wide on our narrow track, surely wasn't his fault he had to flatten/pack most of gates 2 or 4 or 1 and 3 a bit when grading before heat 15 when we had the choice...... -
What League system do the fans want?
gazzac replied to SouthernComet's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
British speedway will be shafted by Poland whatever league format me have. Keep a 'top' league and there won't be many if any of the top line riders like Sayfutdinov over here, all we'll end up doing is paying the second tier heat leaders much the same money. One league with a sensible pay structure and closely matched teams would be ideal, but as said not enough riders, sorry to be so pessimistic but not looking good really. -
I think certain riders can't help it, it's become their norm.
-
He was obnoxious as a teenager (had experience of him swearing in front of young kids at Arlington for no reason ), and he's never changed really.
-
If it's a normal dry track it's 'easier' for the home team with set up hard for the away, if its wet especially with late rain it's harder than usual for the home team to set up and hard for the away team, so a wet track must even it up slightly?
-
Scott is universally liked and you know he'll give it everything, under the circumstances best that could happen at this late notice. Just shows the poor team building of this team, as has been said, not building around a decent number one was almost guaranteed to have this effect.

What League system do the fans want?
gazzac replied to SouthernComet's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Looks like one big league has 100% of the vote at the moment! Think most would prefer a slightly lower standard, closer racing, a greater variety of teams visiting and to visit, not be s**t on by the Polish leagues and able to race on a night of the clubs choosing. If enough rides can be offered to riders to make a living think they'll be enough to go round, certainly for 6 man teams probably 7. Obviously never happen though as the fans are never listened to and a few promoters will 'veto' any thought of the idea...... -
Probably spell check Jack to John.....

I love speedway but was an Eastie fan first and they were 'my' team and really only watched at Arlington ( or Eastie away) plus the odd individual/world championship. But your first sentence really does sum up the problem now for people like us with defunct clubs, you could drive to at least 6 tracks fairly close to you on far less busy roads than today, I have a 150 to 200 mile round trip to my closest 2 tracks on s**te busy roads.

That looks a life like image to me......

Exactly right, Holder will put 100% into the gp's and Poland, Doyle will put in 100% everywhere.
