Young Victor Steeman has sadly lost the fight for his life and passed away today. Just when his career was on the verge of taking off and he was lying second in the World Supersport 300championship, and had just taken the lead in Saturdays race when the accident happened.. a devastating  day for his family and friends, and as his parents said in passing he was able to help save five other people by donating his organs.
RIP Victor #72 will be remembered

His mother has now died of a heart attack; shocking week for the family.

A sad time for tarmac racers just recently. One died at Scarborough Oliver’s Mount recently. I have driven a car round part of that circuit and it’s far too narrow for bikes.

It’s proper road racing so it will always be narrower. They have banned 1000cc bikes at the circuit since the spectator injuries in 2018 I think.

Been twice to the Gold Cup and it was unbelievable watching Dean Harrison, Guy Martin, Michael Dunlop and others race a Superbike around the track.

The TT is a unique event, and is not a good example 39 ml long course with several obstacles to take into account.Name a British Superbike or World Superbike or World Moto GP  round that was cancelled or postponed because of wet track conditions. That is track racing in my book.

WSB in Indonesia last year and I’m pretty sure another round lost a race earlier in the season.

  4. AJ showed more aggression after the fight!, I think years of being the corporate man evaporated in a three minute speech.

Usyk was superb tonight and AJ’s performance was better but I’m still surprised he didn’t fight like the bigger man.

I would still back Fury to beat Usyk.

  5. AJ needs to put it on him but he does seem a bit mentally weak after the fat Mexican middleweight knocked him out.

I think his game plan will be better and more aggressive with Garcia in his corner.

Fury comes out of retirement if AJ wins and stays in retirement if Usyk wins.

Just read on  crashnet that Gino Rea had a very serious crash at Suzuka in the eight hour last weekend. He apparently showed some good signs this morning and it sounds like he has been put in an induced coma for a bit longer.

Good luck Gino for a full recovery

He hit the same wall that killed Daijiro Kato in the Moto Gp race in 2003.

As in all sports penalties and sanctions for violations should be consistent, but with humans making the judgement calls, it’s difficult to be completely objective.

What will Yamahas decision be on which lap to take the long lap, it’s a tough call to make at the start of a race with only three laps available. Just wondering where on the circuit the loop is ?

Fingers crossed it’s a good dry weekend , with some tight races. Should be-a good opportunity for young Ogden to make his mark on his home circuit..

Hope those that have been carrying injuries are now fully fit after the summer break. I’m looking forward to this weekend , wish I could be there..   :)

Long lap loop was at Woodcote for the BSB so I presume they will also use that for the Moto GP.

Fabio was only losing just over a second in practice today using the loop.

Bad news for Sam Lowes who”s out of the GP after a crash today.

I hear what you are saying, but disagree in a way

It is like buying a car from a firm who gives the car to another firm and tells me i have to buy it all over again. It is the same car, just as it is the same meeting(s)

Look at what happened with the Norton takeover, the new company had no obligation to look after customers who had problems with the order of bikes under the previous owner. Out of goodwill they offered generous terms on new machines but did not have too.

  9. Went to Silverstone for the British Superbikes early this year and you had to set up an account and then buy your ticket as they had no ticket office. We didn’t realise this until we arrived so ended up in the customer support centre.

Food outlets you could pay using cash so.

With Oxford having a capacity limit I expect it is much easier to keep track of the number off tickets sold using online selling.

Pubs, sporting events and businesses are going cashless so people are just going to have to get used to it.

It's bringing back many happy memories for me, last time I was here I had my old man in tow, it's at times like this standing here on the 3rd turn that I miss the old bugger more than usual.

I went into autopilot when i got here climbing up the terraces on the 4th turn to get to the 3rd... but of course the pits have moved to the back straight now and you can walk around the bottom of the terraces :D

I did exactly the same with walking around the terrace!!

Oh dear!  Apart from money, not a place I would like to be……. Unless they convinced me they would work on developing a machine to suit me.

My choice would be Aprillia, even their second team. It’s the machine on the move, and if Aleix happened to win this years world championship he could well retire at he end of next year. If he was Wchamp he could renegotiate a better contract for next year, pocket the money then go.at end of 2023.

KTM seem to me to above too many chiefs, too many cooks spoil the broth, may that is what is wrong there, they are stagnant on machine development it seems.

Rins has said he wants a 2023 bike next season and his only option for that is the Honda ride. The second Aprillia team will be using 2022 bikes.

Will be interesting who Aprillia choose for the team as I would be surprised if Dovi or Binder got the ride.

Just watching the practice for Barcelona GP.  To see Aprillia first and second is amazing. I give top marks to Alex Espargaro for sticking with and believing in the project of Aprilia.
if I was Joan Mir I would try to get an Aprilia ride in the new second team, second team yes, but if he could get a factory bike looked after by a crew in the second team that would be great. Depends what money Aprilia and their sponsors have, Mir must be looking for £5 million, whereas Espargaro and Vinhales are on a £2 million two year deal. As a second rider in the second Aprilia team I would put Darren Binder. He was wild in Moto1but seems to have settled down in Moto GP, not crashing, which is important cost wise, but equally important is moving forward, and he is doing that at a good steady pace.

Mir’s original offer from Suzuki for 2023 was for less than he got paid for his rookie season and he had agreed to stay for the same money he was on for this season. I would be surprised if it was anywhere near £5 million.

Mir’s manager in an interview stated that quite a few riders are now offering or ride for free and make there money up from personal sponsorship.

It's my kind on holiday - most of them revolve round motorsport of some kind.

I marshalled all of the Manx road racing for several years and in my opinion the Southern 100 is the best racing on the Isle of Man, do go over and watch it if you get the chance.

It’s one on the list as was Mugello for the Moto GP but that’s less appealing without the Doctor.

I have seen racing on the Billown Circuit at the post race TT meeting and I thoroughly enjoyed that so will definitely get over for the Southern at some point.

A few good times, still early though and they will still be working out all the track changes since last time

My summer holiday is Aces for speedway on the Monday, then fly over to IOM for the Southern 100 on Tuesday morning

That sounds like a bloody good holiday.

Not been to the Southern 100 myself but my parents are regular visitors and really enjoy it.

I watched last night's practice and despite all the moans on social media thought they were doing a pretty good job for the first year trying to live streaming from the mountain course.  Like you I think its a bargain for the price, I expected that per race.

The way some of the lads are going already its going to be some great racing this year.

Hopefully the sun stays out and then the times will get quicker.

Only problem with watching it live makes me want to go back and see it in person again!!

I have never rated that track, nothing tonight to make me change my mind.
Definately some guys tonight who should have done better, but it was obvious the track was too tough for them.
Kvetch was probably best rider tonight but the best racer was Gusts. He is developing into a very good rider.

Ok, so there was a female rider, fair enough to give one a chance, might spur other females to give it a go. Some tough females have taken to boxing. I don’t agree with boxing, but if females can do that they can do speedway. Anyone know why females can’t enter snooker alongside the men?

Females can play snooker alongside the men but at the moment there isn’t anyone good enough.

Matchroom would love a high profile woman snooker player, just look at what they have done with Fallon Sherrock in the darts.

Any predictions for Mugello this coming weekend then? I think with that huge long straight it is going to favour the Ducati's and maybe the Aprilia's.

Bastianini will go close if the temperatures are high and it’s about time a Suzuki won a race.

Hopefully the racing is as good as last weekend’s WSB.
