I personally thought that Dalle Andersen was the most exciting prospect to come out of Sweden in a number of years when he rode for Oxford in 1995. Some of his moves round Cowley were out of the top draw. Made a mistake in returning to "parent" club Cradley in my opinion who rode at Stoke in 1996 and was never the same rider again especially after receiving a bad injury.

Thought exactly the same, he looked class and I thought he was destined for the top.

  2. Well done to Fabio on his title win, richly deserved.

Next year could be special with Fabio, Bagnia and Marquez fighting for the championship.

Cannot understand how Binder got the Yamaha ride and that team looks weak with a past it Dovizioso on the other side of the garage.

I'm sure someone more tech savvy will confirm, but I think it's possible to buy a device that turns an ordinary TV into a "smart TV" and allows you to add things such as Discovery Plus. I will need one myself.

If you buy a chrome cast you will be able to open the discovery plus app on your phone/tablet and send the picture to your tv. I am going to have to show my 86 year old stepdad how to do this which is going to be tricky!!

An Amazon firestick or Roku will also work.

A worthy winner of the MotoGP in Quartararo. So Yamaha 1st, 19th, 20th, and 21st.   Got to be a story in that.  Jake Dixon, 20th. Rode amazingly well, first time on such a powerful machine on Friday, 4 practice sessions plus a warm up, went faster each practice session. Great job. Lost ground somewhere on the track, lost touch with others like Cal, who he could have followed and learned from. I would like to think they will put him in the 2nd Petronas seat next year alongside Dovi.  Cal Crutchlow, only 2nd meeting since coming back as a stand in, not competing regularly, so he did well to finish 20th spot......he said he was going faster then last year, but everyone else has picked up the pace. That is scary.  And Valentino, my favourite rider for donkeys years. Doing well initially managing to improve on his qualifying position (which is always good),, he loves SIlverstone and would love to have put a last show for his fans, but not to be. His tyres were shot at by two thirds race distance. Now, he riding the same bike as Quatararo, think they were on same tyres but Rossi has completely worn out tyres. Riding style different? Quartararo won the race by going faster then Rossi but Rossi's tyres shot at. I just glad he is retiring whilst still in one piece. He is now a father as well, riders dont seem to go as well once they are a parent. Time is right for him to go, the years have caught up with him.  Interesting his comment about Marc Marques...... it would take another 100 years for me to like him. Probably Joge Martin would agree after what Marquez did to him, an Espargaro in Austria.  No need to be that hard on Lap 1 - MotoGP is not like F1 where a race can be won or lost on lap 1.

I watched the Moto GP race at Becketts/Chapel corners and the interesting thing about Quartararo was how late he got on the power, it was about six bike lengths later than some riders. The BT commentators have said before how he rolls through the corners and this must protect his tyres.

Dixon did really well and said he had grip issues on Sunday, sounds like he is on the bike again at Aragon as Vierge has turned down the ride.

Will be fun to see what Vinales can do on the Aprillia at Aragon.

I think the issue would be yet another separate subscription  of a new platform.....

Also DAZN have just upped the monthly price from £1.99 to £7.99 a month and they don’t have much content at the moment. If they got PL rights you would probably be looking at £20 a month.

  7. Vinales got what he deserved from Yamaha so will we see him on an Aprillia before the end of the season?

Big weekend at Silverstone for Dixon making his Moto GP debut. Hopefully a young British rider like Vickers or Skinner will replace him in Moto 2 for the weekend.

Did you listen to the press conference? Bit emotional for me i must say!

Not yet but I will try and catch it later.

It makes me feel old as I remember watching him race on a 125cc before he moved through the classes. All you can say is the man had a stunning career and really help put Moto GP on the map.

I would think the Sam Marino round will be very emotional.

Is Rossi going to retire, or is he going to ride one of the Ducati’s in his own VR46 team?   I reckon he will be riding next year.  Wonder if we will find out over the weekend.

Rossi retires so we were both wrong, maybe his team has signed Vinales.

I doubt it will be this weekend as a press conference is being arranged in Saudi Arabia at the palace about the team but has no confirmed date.

I agree with you that I think he will be riding so that means Bezzecchi off to Petronas is a possibility.

McPhee was due to get a Moto2 bike this year but his team did the dirty on him, much like they did recently when they removed his crew chief.

The problem is McPhee is nearly 27 and has only won a few races and has never challenged for the title. He is getting too old to move up as teams will be looking for younger riders with different passports.

Unfortunately, his current employer has let him down twice so they must not think he has the ability at his age to go further.

Sad to see Rossi on his knees at a track he loves so much, Asen. Bike spat him off, but he was in the bottom half of the field when it happened.
I not a Mark Marquez fan, but he sure has some courage. Coming back from serious injuries caused by high siding, and the bike still sends him into orbit.  Did it over the weekend again and it hurt him. So what does he do, get back on again and does the race. Seems he building his strength up for next year championship.
Well done to Quartararo and Vinhales for a Yamaha one-two.  Of surprised if Vinhales leaves Yamaha at the end of the year, surprised though if he goes to Aprillia like the very strong rumour.

Moto3 exciting again, the only Brit, John McPhee finishing 6th. He really needs a Moto2 ride next year.

Vinales is leaving Yamaha at the end of the season and has been officially confirmed. Only seats available are at VR46 and Aprillia but both would be a gamble.

Has McPhee really done enough to secure promotion to Moto 2? I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in a Supersport championship next year.

See it is Gerloff replacing Morbidelli this weekend

Yes, good to see a youngster given another chance. Shame it was not Toprak but he is sponsored by Red Bull so no chance of that happening.

What do you guys think about what’s going on in practices. Particularly noticeable in Moto3, riders slowing down waiting for a tow etc, all the weaving going on flat out on the straights. This weekend the slowing down was also clear to see in MotoGP practice. It’s all getting too dangerous.

I think the ultimate solution of slowing down waiting for a tow, and I don’t want to see this, is qualifying be done individually, only the one rider on the track at a time. They do that on MotoE, not sure about World Superbike, I don’t watch practice for that (maybe because they do it and I got bored with it.  If that’s what DORNA has to do to stop it then it will make qualifying a whole day job as riders need to do an out lap-a fast lap-and slow down lap. Make viewing terribly boring, and crowds for a Saturday qualifying day would drop - less gate money. DORNA could get tough and incur long lap penalty in the race for anyone acting dangerously. But that could lead to loads of disputes.

The weaving in races on the straight, wow, the meeting at Barcelona other week, the Moto3 were weaving going so fast they were inches to colliding, and that was just a couple of weeks after a rider got killed. I know these kids are fearless, but lives are at stake. Who wants to see a dead hero. Again, DORNA needs to act quickly, perhaps make guilty ones start in the pit Lane at the next race. Spoils viewing though. Something needs to be done and quickly. Next meeting is in Assen, then it’s the summer break, that is the time DORNA needs to issue tough guidelines to stop this nonsense before it turns bad.

DORNA need to get really tough on riders for doing it, I agree with you on pit lane starts, it would stop them doing it pretty quickly.

Disagree with the Jake Dixon punishment for the Assen race.

Just listened to the new leaseholders interview above. Ok he was interviewed by someone in the dog racing world, but there was no mention of him running other sport such as speedway. He said, he plans to run Friday and Saturday nights, Friday night seemed the only sucessful night for speedway in later years. He has got a 10 year lease on the site but that leaves the site owned by the same owners that have tried to put houses on it for the last 15 years. They have got nothing to lose land prices will increase, dog racing will probably be  even more unpopular, and the odds are speedway crowds will be even less. Sadly this lease probably finishes off the idea of the chap that wanted to purchase and redevelop Oxford Stadium as a sporting  complex for speedway, greyhounds and other good community usages. The new leaseholder also mentioned he has done a deal  to lease Mildenhall stadium and he plans to have Sunday lunchtime meetings there so he can do meals in the restaurant, so this could be trouble for Speedway there.

We can only at this stage see what the new leaseholder does, but if speedway does not materialise at Oxford and Swindon in the next couple of years and no land found in Reading, is there any potential promoter willing to look at land in the Newbury area? That is central to pick up the fanbases from Oxford Swindon and Reading. I  expect land would be expensive or would it be worth them approaching Newbury Showground to see if they would build a set up like Peterborough have, although there one or two houses nearby that might not be to happy.

I think Eddie Stobart are moving into part of the Newbury Showground.

Seen that Remus Gardner will be moving to KTM Tech3 in next years MotoGP. So who is moving out…..Olivera and Petrucci must be worried.

I would expect both Petrucci and Lecouna to go and Raul Fernandez to line up alongside Gardner.
