Away  from the obvious sad news there was some  good WSBK racing this weekend, the sprint race especially . I hope Reading will be able to maintain a challenge on Rea , be nice to see a fight for the title

The second Supersport race is definitely one to watch. Probably the best race I have seen in this class for a longtime.

I suspect his brief encounter with MotoGP was more of a reward from Honda for his WSB championships. There are quiet a few differences between a WSB machine and a MotoGP bike, it would take home some time to get used to - brakes probably being the biggest, plus power of engine.

He was covering for the injured Casey Stoney so it was very difficult as he was switching  between his WSB bike and the Moto GP bike each weekend. I think he had two top eight finishes and was told not too crash.

Given a fair run on a good bike I am convinced he would have been a top five rider in the Moto GP class.

Another brilliant day at the races :)  really pleased for Di Giannantonio to take his first moto2 victory with a great ride,  and a real boost for his team after the sad start that they had to the season.

Then up pops good old Jack Miller to take a truly emotional first victory for five years with his team mate close behind, after Quatararo's mid race problems left him eventually finishing in13th. It seems like the changing of the old guard is happening again this season, and again another rookie is leading the championship.

As for moto3 the usual mayhem and a tight finish with 1.5 seconds separating the first ten. Seems premature to say it but the boy Acosta looks almost a certainty barring accidents to win the world championship having won three on the trot.

I hope that Quatararo gets surgery for the armpump problems sorted in time for his home grand prix at Le Mans and makes a full recovery in time.

Fabio had surgery on Monday and skipped the moto gp test.

Marquez also pulled out of the test due to the crashes he had at the weekend leaving him stiff and sore.

Acosta is really looking like he is something special.

Nonsense. The FA will consider anything if the price is right, which is why umpteen concerts have been held on the pitch there, and why several are scheduled even this year.

Speedway can't/won't/doesn't want to pay the asking price. Just be honest about it...

But if you go to a concert at Wembley it’s about £80 for the cheap seats and the place is sold out.
BSI/Eurosport Events would not sell many tickets for speedway at that price and would lose a fortune so it’s a non starter.

Speedway can’t afford Wembley or any other major stadium in London.

  5. I would be shocked if you got 55k at Wembley for speedway and if you did the atmosphere would be nowhere near as good as 40k at Cardiff.

The cost of renting Wembley would be astronomic so at 55k you would probably be losing money unless minimum ticket price was £50 and most speedway fans wouldn’t pay that price for the cheapest ticket.

If you want speedway in a big stadium Cardiff is the only option with the roof and financial help from the government.

That worries me a bit. BTSport is not too expensive, I also with BT for superfast fibre, obviously I would think that stays with BT, but what will the new charge be and for what service. Will all come out in the wash, when "they" ready to let us know.

Amazon Prime is only about £70 for the year so not too expensive.

I have DAZN and it is only £2 a month at the moment but that might increase as it seems they are taking the Matchroom boxing from Sky Sports apart from Joshua in June.

ITV are also said to be interested in buying part of BT sports.

Good to see Marquez back on a bike yesterday,  though he looked shattered at the end of the race and only 13 seconds off the pace behind Quatararo, who's win takes him into the lead in the championship.

Sixteen year old Pedro Acosta again in brilliant form to take the moto3 race passing Foggia on the last lap.  Quite a start for the lad in moto championships with his first three race results being second,  first and first again yesterday and clear leader of the moto3 championship. It shows just how strong Spanish junior racing is these days.

The Spanish set up is absolutely brilliant and is really the only series to be in if you want to be a Moto GP rider.

Raul Fernandez  also looks an amazing talent, he was too big last year for a Moto 3 bike but is looking a star in the Moto 2 category. Can see him and Remy Gardner on the KTM in Moto Gp within the next two years.

Another surprise pole with Jorge Martin taking it this week with the other young guys just behind. They're making even Miller and Vinales look old these days, although Vinales made the front row this week. Shocking day for Rossi and Morbidelli and for Pol on the Honda.

Looks like another interesting race tonight

Martin has taken to that Ducati very well and you can guarantee it will be a Ducati top 4 at the first corner.

Interesting to hear Vinales praise the work that Cal has done on the Yamaha.

It’s starting to get a bit embarrassing for Rossi which is a shame.

Well it looks like I’m in the minority here but I will be prescribing to Premier Sports. It’s unfortunate that they’re not showing all the meetings but I’m often unavailable on a Sunday so I can watch them when I like during the week on Premier Player, which is a lot more useful than finding a dodgy stream or relying on it being uploaded to YouTube etc. Meanwhile they will show the Copa America in July that I’ll watch too.

I will aswell, much prefer my commentary in English and also if I get 3 live meetings a week for £11 a month I am happy with that.

  10. Natalie Quirk joins the BT team as the pit lane reporter replacing Gavin Emmett who is taking over from the retired Keith Huewen in commentary.

She is leaving her role as anchor on for the Speedway GP’s.

Marquez is not riding this weekend.

It was interesting to see that Marquez had a full test on his Honda yesterday at Barcelona, and he said it went well, but in reality even though he plans to go to Doha I believe it will best fit him to wait until he is near 100% fit before he's back on the grid.

It will be sad this year as well with Gressini missing from the pits. And how will Suzuki respond to the changes at their team. Hopefully a good safe pleasurable and intriguing season ahead.

Mike Scott has said in this week’s MCN that Marquez is not expected to race until Jerez, but with MM you never know. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him do a practice day in Doha but Bradl doing the race.

Dovi is testing the Aprillia in April at Jerez.

I wonder what Carl Fogarty is doing these days circa 2020/2021?

He is a brand ambassador for CCM motorcycles, previously  done a similar role at Ducati and Triumph.

Dovi riding fpr Repsol Honda!  Do you remember the fall out when they wanted to get rid of him some years ago, I think Casey Stoner was taking over his bike. Dovi was still under contract when they tried to dump him. His legal guys took Honda on and won, there was a third Repsol Honda bike on the grid, full Repso colours and Dovi in full Repsol leathers as well. The contract had to fulfilled to the letter. Would he go back there......mmmmm?

Marq Marqueuz has had a 6 hour operation. Thats a pretty serious operation. Will he be the same after recovery, thats the big question.

I know but if Marquez is not fit he is the only reasonable option as Honda cannot afford another year like this one. I think he would return as his career is looking finished now.

Marquez bone has had an infection and that is why it has not healed, he is receiving further treatment for it but that also seems like it will take another 6 weeks to find out if successful.

Brilliant GP season I thought and what a track to finish on.

Lets hope Marquez, who is reported to need another operation is fit for next year as I think some of the new stars have that similar attitude and style to him and can start to run him close.

Rumours are it’s at least a six months recovery period, so being a Moto GP rider he will be at the February test!!

Maybe we might see Dovi in Repsol colours next season.

This is not meant to be Anti Speedway, but it bemuses me that some seem to think  the Government has unlimited amounts of money available to bale out everything and everybody.

Well the government did stop spectators attending so they should help out if clubs require it.

Read this morning that Lorenzo has been dropped (sacked) by Yamaha and they now going for Dovie.  Lorenzo was ankering for a Aprillia test rider spot. If he gets to Aprillia I hope he can do for them what Pedrosa has done for KTM.

If Aprillia can afford to pay him I expect he will become the test rider.
