Survival of The Premiership?
kevin bass replied to Najjer's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Speedway in the UK has been living beyond its means for yrs and simply can't compete or compare to how the sport is run in say Poland, paying out mega bucks to get the GP boys over here ain't the answer coz it don't generally pay for itself as in putting enough extra bums on seats to cover the cost so it's needs a decent club to sponsor to cover the cost, im just as happy to see lower grade riders race then the top boys race if it means the sport over here continues in some shape or form, i started watching the sport as a teenager back in the mid 70's and more often then not the riders turned up with a bike strapped to the back of a car and not have all these fancy vans like 2day and they also held down a job outside of the sport, these days the riders want/expect to much but the clubs still find a way to shell out for them which generally they can't afford without like mentioned big sponsors. -
I think it's just people getting frustrated when King gets beat by second strings/reserves who he should be beating, but like said the others ain't really doing their job either, Riss woeful most wks, and Rew not haps going as well as a lot people expected.
-
In previous yrs not this yr, King normally catches heats 10/12, and there the heats he goes missing from time to time and gets beat by riders he should be beating home and away.
-
Nice to see young Dan's form continuing after his decent score at Belle Vue and his good performance in the under 21 final, as for Riss he don't get no better even against the league's whipping boys.

Leicester vs Kings Lynn 17/7/23
kevin bass replied to Lenny Lion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If Laguta tried as hard as Emil there wouldn't be a problem, he's very much a gating tart and doesn't very often chase down and pass people, whereas Emil rides his heart out every race, I'd have Emil over Laguta everyday of the weak personally. -

I'm hoping Emil, Doyle and King can get at least 30 between um and im sure Rew, Riss, Hume and Thompson can get 5 between um, so Ipi can hopefully get 35 on the score board, but then again -

Apart from riding on his home track at Peterborough and away at Belle Vue his scores ain't been great away from home, mainly 4 or 5 points when he rode at Sheffield, Leicester and Ipswich, and none off them are no where near as tight and technical as the Wolves track. -
Nah i think Hawkins has a hospital appointment to remove that chip off his shoulder, either that or to get a personality transplant

So Kemp made it instead of Flint because he had a race win even tho Flint beat Kemp in the heats. -

The 2 missing Russians are the only riders missing from the current GP field who'd probably enhance it, the ain't many others who ain't already in the top 16 who'd do any better overall what i can see, maybe Kubera at best. -

Fair enough, personally i find Tennis nearly as boring to watch as Snooker or Golf, probably why i hadn't heard of herbut each to there own. -

Never heard of them -
Looks like Batch has joined Leicester so he ain't no longer an option as a poss change
-
I'm sure Riss rolling average was below 6 up to June 13th and will only drop more by end of the month the way he's riding currently.

Ipswich v Belle Vue 13th July

Agree entirely with that but sadly never gonna happen, what are the actual issues between Nicholls and Ipswich, heard numberous times he'd never ride for them again whenever his name was mentioned over the last few seasons. -

Riss needs replacing and should of been stood down wks ago, like been said his poor form puts more pressure on Rew and the reserves, would Batch fit for Riss, just asking -

Hume should be beating Bailey at home really, and yet again King went missing later in the meeting, less said about Riss the better. -

Hope im wrong i but can't see anything other then another Belle Vue win, their reserves are stronger on paper and Wright/Lindsey are more than a match for Riss/King, Emil/Doyle should hopefully out score Bewley/Kurtz but need the the remaining 5 riders to come to the party. -
Same here, Riss has never really scored well regularly in the 1-5, probably worth the risk in reserve berth.
