Plenty of interest for present fans and those that enjoy reading some nostalgia and Scott's Nicholl's refeshingly honest account of the well taken win up at Berwick. Nice to see that the "warm toned" Dave Hammond still does the announcing. I always thought that he was/is the best in the business and a terribly nice person as well. Richard Palmer (I used to work with his uncle at the Zoology of Department) is still there and great to see that Leon Foster-Hill is still involved...used to enjoy my banter with him as he had a dry sense of humour. Matt Davis involved on the track curatorial side of things another who I remember (I presented him with my "Skol" Cheetahs jacket!) and of course that super enthusiast Rob Peasley who is the programme editor. I wrote some articles for him for the "Chronicle" some years back. Even my uncle one time Oxford photographer Keith Lawson got a credit!
Well done to everyone involved!
I still have that jacket Steve!
You’ll have noticed a column from ‘Chloe Davis’, my daughter and current Oxford mascot

On 6/12/2023 at 7:09 AM, Come on the Skipper said:It was run under a Nora92 Motorsport Permit issued to Sittingbourne Speedway, as stated in the programme. It was a mixture of uprights, laydowns, 125/150cc youth and 250cc youth. and mainly amateur and unattached riders. The only rider I am aware of who is currently riding in a team was Rhys Naylor.
It was the first meeting of this type that I've attended.
Is that the same NORA92 that Barry bishops league runs under? If so is this not exactly why Kent have had their License suspended for running a Nora meeting?

I believe one of the main issues promotions had is the ageing crowds who were not the sharpest when it came to buying tickets online. But those days have gone and Online ticketing is expected in everything from concerts to any sporting event. Struggling to think where I would pay cash on the gate in any other sport.
But I can’t fathom out why Oxford would want to charge an extra £2 for buying an online ticket on the day of the meeting itself. Sure, they want to get money into the coffers as early as possible but £20 is more expensive than every other club and the extra £2 plus program boosts it up to £25. For the gains of getting the money in early, they lose by likely customers balking at the increase.
How much is Pooles entry + car park (£3.50) + programme (£3)?
Oxford if you pre book is £20 including booking fees, car park and shuttle bus, plus a programme at £3

Have you emailed the club or the stadium?

There’s been no mention of him, so I’d assume he’s not part of the management but I could be wrong!

So the council turned down a planning application for a multi-million pound entertainment arena? A planning application that doesn't even exist in the real world?
A music festival arena for 25,000 people. That's going to cost £15M - £20M minimum (And I'm probably way under there), and sorry you just don't pop up a 25,000 capacity arena by registering a company at companies house the day before with former junior rider Greg Daniels as sole director, and sole shareholder with one £1 share.
But this multi-million pound arena can be funded by one appearance from Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams, Simply Red and The Killers..... erm, OK.Then we look at some of the gibberish posted. "Un-vailing"? And what are "bonified" contractors? Is this some kind of fossilisation?
"All domains both .co & .com are registered with companies house." No they're not! Companies House register and regulate Limited Companies in England and Wales. (Like the one Greg Daniels has a whole pound invested in). They're nothing to do with any register of internet domain names! Then we're expected to believe that this whole multi-million pound project to bring global music artists to Weston Super Mare has been brought crashing to the ground by a few phone calls with Neil Vatcher and Roscoe?
A Speedway club using the facilities isn't some massive money-spinner. It would be bringing in chicken-feed compared to a Rihanna concert.
Whether Henry Atkins can have a skid round on his bike isn't going to matter much to Bruce Springstein and Taylor Swift. No way would the lack of speedway derail this project.Sorry, but it's all Billy Bull****
Spot on that
