  1. Track Staff have a busy morning ahead of them tomorrow, there's a lot of work to do to pull that lot round for a 3pm start. Should have held it at King Lynn, Buster's got the equipment
  2. I do actualy, but as you say not in that format.
  3. Top Post It's about time people got to know what it's like organising a Team, it's not just about picking top names, you have got to make sure those riders will gel together as a Team. Things don't always just fall into position, not everybody has the knack of putting a Team together, who can work together, Rob Lyon has the ability to get a collection of riders to work as a Team and all pull together, I think that was shown Monday night. I wish them all the best for Saturday
  4. What a terrific night, well done to buster and all the Kings Lynn staff, from the word go when you arrived the car parking was well organised, the track was well prepared, exellent lighting, liked the new lights added to the Apex of the bends. I think a special mention must go to the presentation, with Mike Bennett getting the crowd going with the air horns, and in particular, the Air Horn Mexican Wave, I thought that was brilliant, and timed well to the opening of the Sky broadcast, and a mention must go to the chioce of the music, particularly the Playing of Land of Hope and Glory with the brilliant win, whether people who watched Sky heard any of that I don't know, I would love to see a recording of the Sky broadcast to watch it all over again. And a big well done to Rob Lyon, Scot Nichols, Lee Richardson, Tai Woffinden, Simon Stead and Chris Harris, they worked as a Team indeed.

    Kings Lynn Stars

Sorry, I was thinking about the music they may have played just before the tapes went up

    Kings Lynn Stars

I would take a guess at The start of "The Gallop" from "William Tell". I dont know, but quite a few tracks used that, I think one or two still do.

    Jim Kempster's Velocette Ktd

Julian57, Did your wife get any of the memorabilia that Jim's brother Archie had at his home Nr Leighton Buzzard. I knew Archie when I lived in Leighton Buzzard, and went to his home and he showed me all the Trophy's and scrap books of Archie and Jim's time in Speedway, there were loads of items and I wondered what happened to them when Archie passed away
  8. A new site for the old Milton Keynes Knights is now open, please have a look at it, and post something on the Forum. There's pictures of both Tracks, Groveway and Elfield Park as it is today. The site is still being developed, its at WWW.Miltonkeynesknights.co.uk
  9. Sorry, yes it was Hans, but I just said if they were working from the correct gate position sheet, why didn't he query it when he got to the gate
  10. As regards the gate mix up, if Jan Staechmann and his Team were working to the spreadsheet why didn't Klindt know he was going off the wrong gate It seems the start line crew had the same gate positions as Rob Lyon and the other Teams, which is why Rob looked bemused, as did the other Team Managers All riders work to the gate positions in the official programme that is given to them before the meeting starts, it looks like only Jan Staechmann was working from the spreadsheet, the thing is was the referee working from the spreadsheet or the official programme Bit of a cock up all round, but you can't blame Rob Lyon for looking like he did. Anyway, my thoughts on Team GB, brilliant, a resounding success Edit Sorry, just seen doc61's post, and he has said much the same as I have
  11. Does he get his own personal one in the Pits
  12. There was a time when the SCB ruled that you could not ride in anything else other than Leathers, but they relented on that about the same time as they relented on the use of the laydown engine. perhaps not many of you can remember those rules, it is some time ago now. Leathers still are the better protection, road racers are not allowed to use anything other than leathers, and as regards cost, that is a ridiculous argument when it comes to protection The money Nikki will lose from being laid off by that burn, he could have bought himself several sets of leathers
  13. I heard the delay was the Australian Team have lodged a complaint of the GB Team using young riders against all their old ones

    Gb World Cup Team

Agree with you Stoney=Legend Rob Lyon has the ability to take riders and get them to ride as a Team, there's no doubt the work he has done at Kings Lynn is tremendous, getting them to work as a Team. This is a chance to build for the future, to be a true Team.

    Tuners

Here you have it in a nutshell, "TEAM", this is why Rob Lyon is the best man for the job, he has the knack and ability to get riders to work together as a team, helping and encouraging each other in the pits, the teamsmanship within the Kings Lynn Stars is terrific, and this is all down to Rob Lyon making it the best "Team" in the league. Given time I'm sure Rob can get Team GB to work as a Team, and not a group of individual riders. So many people are ready to knock Rob, but it is mainly based on jealousy of how well he has done with Kings Lynn, and how successful they are. They are a true Team
  16. Crikey, Have you only just got the prints back from Boots
  17. I don't care much for Semi Finals and Finals, prefer the old system But not to take anything away from Brum, well done Lads,...... Congratulations
  18. Just got back from NA, got some cracking footage, should be a good DVD. Bonus for me tonight, who should I run into in the Pits, The one and only Steve Regeling. Now, I didn't expect to see him tonight
  19. Hi Tomcat The track you remember at MK, when you said the word "bowl" I knew it to be Elfield Park, that was the second track at MK, the first being Groveway Stadium, an old Dog Track. Elfield Park was indeed like a Bowl, the viewing for the customers was terrific, everyone looking down at the track, nobody's feet were below the top of the safety fence You would have seen me when you came to the tapes as I was the Start Marshal They were really happy days, Speedway was fun, I've made some good mates over the years, Riders, Promoters, Mechanics, Refs, the list goes on Sorry everyone didn't mean to hijack the thread
  20. I go back to when he was Mascot for us at Milton Keyenes
  21. Just to let everyone know that can't get there, we are filming the meeting tomorrow night, so will be available on DVD. It's looking like it's going to be a really action packed meeting, and of course there is the new Lynn signing Linus Eklof, be interesting to see him in his first outing with the Stars Team, and how he performs against the KL Legends, it's going to be a tough debut for him

    How Much Was It

Mustn't forget that tracks had to pay entertainment tax on the gate money, it was quite hefty, it closed a lot of Cinema's , theatres, and Speedway tracks

    Speedways Future

The 1981 world final was shown live on TV, well I say live, it was shown late and showed recordings of the earlier heats until they caught up with it live, if you get what I mean, I've got a recording of it, although I went to Wembley, I set the recorder to record it, but as it ran late, I didn.t set the timer long enough so lost the end
