    Norwich Speedway Tribute web site.

Hi Jim yes, Old Comrades is a Millitary march, I've just looked through my old records of marches but no luck I'm afraid, can't remember the name of the composer, if my old Dad was alive he would have known, being an army bandsman. If I can locate anything I'll let you know.

    Nation On Film

I saw it too, unfortunatly I didn't tape it. It looked like Late 20's early 30's as they were douglas machines and they were leg trailing, in one sequence they had big Stars on their backs if anyone can recall that

Another freeloder, no wonder they had to close again. (only kidding) I was there too that night....Had a seat just after the start line every week, till they closed again.

Good collection of Pics Norman, nice to see Leathers rather than Pyjama's, but then thats just my opinion.........don't want to sound like a silly old F**t......even if I am one.

    Plymouth or Australia

Norman, just had another look at your pics from the VSRA dinner....the person between Ronnie Moore and Ivan Mauger is I think Alan Clark. You may know that already by now of course.

    The autograph book

George Greenwood also had a Motorcycle shop, was agent for the JAP/Rotax. I think it was Kensal Green, did go there once to get some spares for my Jap/Rotax, his son was running it then.
  10. How can Coventry complain about Brafield, it must be at least 40 odd mile away. Brafield and Coventry ran at the same time in the 50's and 60's. The more tracks there are the more popular the sport gets.

    Speedway Films

I have compiled a Video starting with an interview with Ron Howes, who did the riding for Dirk Bogarde in the film, and then an interview with Bill Owen who played "Lag" Gibbon an Australian rider, talking about going to New Cross in the pits to see how speedway riders went about their job.....then follows the film Once a Jolly Swagman.

    Old Riders

Right......i've got about 15 years before I can attempt that record ...... if I try I'll invite you along Norman.... then perhaps you could immortalise me in a book. LOL.....

    Old Riders

Hi Shazzybird I last took my bike around Kings Lynn just before my 72 birthday if thats any good. But it wasn't a league match so I suppose that it doesn't count.

Hi Trackman Think the great Jack Parker was only about 47 when he retired

    Ian Cartwright?

Simon does work in the family firm(although in what capacity I don't know), He rode for me in the Norfolk Braves and I very often phoned him at work. Ian was a gentleman rider like Sandman said, I did see him in "Flogg It", and he hasn't changed much.
  23. Team Man

    Badgers

I saw a few meetings there, both as the Badgers and before that when they were the Flying Foxes. Like most places it was shared with Stock cars. Pete Seaton was team captain of the Badgers.
