British Final 2022
Hackett replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
No line up yet but tickets went on sale this morning. -
Those support numbers is pretty pitiful. As it states in the article England's second city - little over 350. Well we all know that is not sustainable and effectively Brummie's situation was up against it from the start of the season. Would be a big ask to see Birmingham speedway in 2023 with those losses. So could be no Newcastle, Birmingham and Peterborough next season - three major cities across the country with no speedway. Completely mirrors the success that Oxford Cheetah's seem to be having - support wise.

Would take any speedway. My children are 12 + 16 this is the first speedway season (pandemic apart) they have not been to a speedway meeting. Although they are looking forward to Cardiff SGP and the British Final should tickets ever become available. As for Eastbourne let's hope they kind find some significant backing.

Newcastle v Leicester 12th June 2022
Hackett replied to justathought's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I can't see the Diamonds lasting the season at this rate. As for a new site - with little or zero help from the local council you are fighting an uphill battle. Noise pollution etc etc - You need deep , pockets to offer a sports complex 5g football pitch on infield. Community area or gym. -
Killing the sport

Don't worry if fuel prices keep rising most Speedway clubs won't be able to afford to fuel a tractor so should speed the meetings up. -
Poole v Leicester 08/06/22
Hackett replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Poole with the top three of Lawson Worrall + King probably anticipate 35+ per meeting then a second string and a reserve chip in with expected returns for victory. As stated on Eurosport Danny King is struggling with machinery at the moment and Drew Kemp's form has fallen at reserve, counter that with an inform Lions team with three strong heatleader's and Dan Thompson's exploits at reserve and a deserved victory. I am sure that Poole will bounce back and these two sides will both be competitive in the play-offs. -
Polish Extraleague play- off Final 2nd leg Sunday 25th September Live on TV

He hinted on social media 4-6 months on crutches and such a serious crash this ma well be it for him. Speedway recovery - I wonder if he rushed back a little too quickly from his previous soil sample as he could barely walk from the videos on social media. Sounds a nasty one - Get well soon. -
Been delayed far too long. Announcement will be made due to pandemic and brexit owning company has decided to stop with stadium build and then planning permission for housing extended ££££ - Either that or it will go the way of Brandon - couple of arson attacks residents in the estate will complain and permission will be pushed through for housing.

Belle Vue v Ipswich Monday June 6th Live on TV
Hackett replied to racers and royals's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Prague SGP had plenty of empty seats !! And guarantee Discovery more interested in the SGP Series and it's progress than British Speedway attendance figures. As long as viewing figures strong - they'll be content. Would imagine that tv channels will always love a last heat decider. -

Close meeting Eurosport / Discovery will be happy - last heat decided although Kelvin was begging for the "superheat". Personally I would of put Doyle off 3 - I wonder whether he chose that or was told to go off 1. Woeful crowd in the grandstand - very disappointing. Thought Danyon Hume deserved more points for the effort. -

Absolute borefest - the city is great but the track is absolute garbage. If the Marketa Stadium doesn't put banking in, take the SGP away from the City. Has been awful for years. -
Brennan has the talent. Learnt his trade at Arlington and last season was getting faster, braver and is dedicated. Has a point to prove and riding at Belle Vue and Glasgow will only help his development and every Eastbourne fan would wish the Eagle every success in his career as he continues making steps upwards. Hope that he gets a go a GP2 and no doubt has every chance of riding at Cardiff in GP2

Edinburgh - new home required….
Hackett replied to JanAndersen's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not great news for the Monarchs. Without support from Local Council / Government always an uphill battle for a new site - plus a shedload of cash. Any landlord is going to be tempted to sell a site for housing. Fear this won't be the only club not to be running in 2023. Hopefully some more good news stories like Oxford situation but few and far between. -
Warsaw GP 2022 Saturday May 14th
Hackett replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Congratulations to Max Fricke. Brave decision to take gate 4 but he was confident of making it work. Fair Play. As for the event - racing was pretty mediocre for most of the event. It was like we had gone back 10 years on temporary tracks and excitement was all about reactions after hitting the rut. Two SGP's have been pretty disappointing for the most part. Hope that Michelsen is ok after his soil sample. -
Always going to be burnt down. Usual tactic of untoward property developers. Leave site for years after failed planning permission. Site is left derelict or in state of repair then an arson attack and burnt down. Then demolished due to safety issues and then planning permission is amazingly awarded. Happens to a number of public houses in London and suburbia - guess Brandon is going a similar route.

Speedway On Tv And The Internet In 2024
Hackett replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
BT and Warner Bros Discovery have finalised a deal to combine their sport broadcasting arms in a 50/50 joint venture. The deal, once finalised, could be worth as much as £633m to BT. It will see BT Sport and Eurosport UK merge, creating a new pay-TV broadcast home for premium sports including the Premier League, the Olympic Games, tennis Grand Slams, the UEFA Champions League, the Tour de France, Premiership Rugby and more. The FT reports that the joint venture is a "marriage of convenience", with BT looking to exit sports broadcasting and focus on its infrastructure and fibre expansion across the UK. I wonder what this means to speedway in the long term ??? https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/may/12/bt-and-warner-bros-discovery-join-forces-to-create-pay-tv-sport-business -
There is plenty of scope for a speedway game - Speedway challenge on Android / Iphone is a decent effort. With the success and support of the sport in Poland no doubt a Football Manager type game with graphics like the phone game would work or go the alternative route and full interaction and racing mode like MotoGP or MotoX games would succeed to a degree.

Sky Bet doesn't take bets on riders - Is this all through Bet365 ??

GP round 1 Gorican Saturday April 30th
Hackett replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Zmarzlik is different gravy and has been excellent since 2016. He just looks quicker at most SGP meetings. He is as dominant as Tricks was in his time , albeit the difference being that the competition doesn't look as strong in this era. We know only takes one shale sample and the season can change but this season looks as though may be a shootout between Zmarzlik and Janowski - However Gorican is a strange track and will be interesting to see if any other riders are more competitive at Warsaw. As for the tv coverage - seemed ok + a difficult night for Kelvin Tatum but I am sure Nige would of been proud of him and his professionalism. Would of been a tough but sure a Guiness was lifted in honour - speedway will never sound the same. -
When I looked at the details on speedway updates I was pretty shocked about the 6 hour turnaround for an ambulance but anything other than free admission to a future meeting will be a PR disaster for the Brummies. Appreciate that they are in financial difficulty and had some bad luck to start the season BUT if they choose not to offer free admission I can see a number of fans not returning.
