    Sheffield 2020

Hi, I could be wrong about Machin wanting to cut in to centre green. Heard something a long time ago, memory could be playing tricks.

    Sheffield 2020

Has been used for rugby league but the team were not keen as the pitch too narrow. Sheffield Eagles now have a different stadium to use so unlikely to go back. Believe it was once used by the local American football team and Sheffield FC football team. Not sure what they are doing now. Was regularly used by stock car drivers, despite being told regularly not to do so. I seem to recall that Neil Machin once wanted to cut in to the centre green to make the track wider, but was refused permission by stadium owners. Perhaps someone could confirm or deny this?

    RELEGATION IS THE AIM

Not a case of relegation being the aim. Survival is the aim. Just happens to be that relegation is the way to survive.
  4. They don't. Just call off fixtures and stick 2 fingers up to those who wanted to go.

    TV new deal?

    And don't forget SmekTaylor
  6. 2018 fixtures called off because of football world cup. 2019 fixture called off due to that Liverpool Tottenham match. Presume England will be in next year's football European cup.
  7. 10 week season? How will they fit in all the matches when they have loads of fixtures are post poned because football is on the telly???

    Grand Prix numbers

Maybe because he was born in the year Brian Adams released Summer of 69.

    Grand Prix numbers

Another motorcycle racer (James Whitham) who had the same number said he originally chose it because he fell off a lot and the number appears the same upside down.

    Grand Prix numbers

The numbers aren't unique. I believe Tommy Bridewell is a number 46 motorcycle racer. Obviously not the most famous one.
  11. Is Woffy confirmed as a GP rider next year?

    Peterborough 2020

Not very nice, saying they smell.

    Big decisions in November.

I am sure I went to them all, as well as a few at Scunthorpe and Buxton. Will have also watched some on television.

    Big decisions in November.

Fair point, but I believe that one of the reasons riders want to double up is the ever reducing number of fixtures, and therefore income, of riding for 1 club only.

    Big decisions in November.

Well they managed it 13 years ago.

    Big decisions in November.

Seems a case of being better at creating problems than solutions.
  17. Didn't he ride for Wolverhampton? Or was that James Bond?
  18. Better than doing all over the fans who paid to see the CLRC.

    Big decisions in November.

Why is so difficult to fit in so many meetings?. I just looked at Sheffield archives section for 2006. They had 33 matches at Owlerton that year.
  20. That's probably as much as he earned in the recent CLRC.
  21. The driving on the centre green I am referring to was repeated and deliberate despite repeated requests and a reasoned explanation that it was harming the surface for other users. I also seriously doubt that, in rented stadiums, landlords do track preparation.

Pity the latter would be welcomed

Take it you mean the price of admission not an increase in number of people admitted ?
  24. Probably because of the damage they do. A Thursday speedway match at Sheffield once had to be called off due to the state track was left in after stock cars previous Sunday. Would not occur to them to return it to it's previous state. Also remember stock cars running on centre green at Owlerton despite repeated requests not to do so as it was used by a local football team. Clearly have no consideration for others.
  25. Per retro speedway 84 venues shut in 70 years.
