Nl Riders Championship - Rye House 21st September.
Daniel Smith replied to speedy bill's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
When can you remember it happening and with whom??? Certainly don't see it in the GP's. Holder and Ward had some great races against each other. Freddie Lindgren certainly ain't trying to do Woffy any favours. There's never in my memory been an incident of team riding in the PLRC, ELRC and British Final. Truth is you've just made that up. Team riding in an individual is a disgrace Can't comment on last night but thought I'd chuck my two pence in -

Come on Phil, don't get splinters in ya backside and tell us who that promoter is!!! If it was a Premier League promoter I can understand a British World Champion does nothing for them. Of it's an Elite League promoter that would be a rather strange comment. -
Thank God That's Over - Thoughts Of The 2013 Season

  Pot Kettle Black Steve. You'd earn so much more respect from others if you'd just not have pop back and just shut up for a change. It was his opinion which was what the title of this thread asked for at the end of the day -
Thank God That's Over - Thoughts Of The 2013 Season
Daniel Smith replied to uk_martin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
My thought on 2013:- Disaster season & they are for me 1, Far too many injuries 2, Double up rule again has been terrible for the Elite League 3, Matt Ford 4, Neil Middleditch & TeamGB (Embarrassments) 5, Attendance's 6, BSPA & SCB (Just don't give a sh-hit) 7, Riders going straight back to pits after winning races 8, Standard of refereeing 9, Skysports (would be no great loss IMO) Positives 1, Tai Woffinden 2, Seeing one of our own stepping up (Lewis Kerr) 3, Struggling with thinking of anything else -

If One Rule Could Be Changed In League Speedway By A Public Vote, Which One Would You Change And Why & How? Closing Date: 31/10/2013
Daniel Smith replied to skthecat's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Radical idea. People say close score lines make for more entertaining racing, so.............. Double points every time a team goes 4 or more points down. Don't have to nominate a rider for the table cloth, just standard colours and the double points goes to the rider that finishes furthest ahead Just a thought -
1, In my opinion if we go back to the old tactical ride it has to be with all four from the tapes. I don't like the 15m stuff, it ain't speedway 2, Agree we need 7 riders every meeting. I think the lowest average rider missing can only be replaced by a guest with an average less than the 7th rider in the team. Top 2 in the team can have guests with an equal or less averages. 2a, This is were I'd like to adjust the guest rule. I believe guests should have a current form average which includes any previous guest appearances based on their last 6 meetings. This I believe would stop ringer guests. (I know some want rid of guests but I just don't think British Speedway can afford any other option like squad systems. Riders will request stupid amounts for signing on fees) 3, Nobody could argue against that

I don't think they're saying you can't. I think they mean you shouldn't be allowed to be in the GP's unless you qualify and to certain point I agree but nobody can take anything away from what Wuffy has done this season -
Air Fence Safety Performance - Research?
Daniel Smith replied to Elephantman's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
This is the problem. Current Air Fences do have a flaw that would be impossible to fix, simply because they're full of air and their shape alters on impacted. If anyone needs a safety fence for next season please use the more modern version (Like King's Lynn & Berwick) of the PolyFoam. This really is the way forward -

COME ON WOFFY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
The thing is TWK, almost all British riders (those that don't ride in Europe) want to ride in the EL & PL. There just isn't the finances available to be able to sustain EL speedway alone. I think I'm right in thinking that Eddie Kennett has even taken on a 2nd "real job" to help with finances. I think the league structure needs to be worked around the race night's and try to avoid clashes. The UK needs to move away from racing every day of the week. It just can't continue. Monday - UK Tuesday - Sweden Wednesday - Denmark Thursday - UK Friday - Denmark / Poland / SGP / Qualifiers practice Saturday - SGP / Qualifiers Sunday - Poland Once you've established which clubs can do Monday or Thursday home matches is when we can look into a change in league structure. If Glasgow can only do Sundays, Berwick Saturday's etc etc the North / South split is a none starter I'm afraid

There's really only 2 ways for Tai to play it safe and that's at the back not bothering or out in front and Tai can't afford to do the first unless he makes the semi's. Taking it easy and getting mixed up in those 2nd and 3rd place battles is were you're more likely to get tangled up in an accident. Tai will want to win races regardless, he showed that Wednesday night guesting for us. He could have clearly not bothered, he even accepted a T/R ride. Not wanting to win races isn't in Tai's vocabulary. There no 'all or nothing' with Tai it's 'all and more all'. He's been a machine this year. A very deserving World Champion with or without Emil in it, he still demolished the other remaining rider's and that's what winning a World Title is all about COME ON WOFFINDEN!!!!!!! -
King's Lynn V Stoke (nl) - Thursday 5th September 2013
Daniel Smith replied to Mimmo's topic in National League Speedway
The problem was though, that Bridger's reaction came some 20-30 minutes after the accident. Not being funny but regardless of the accident most people would have calmed their heads by then. Everyone was just stunned by the reaction. Lambert, Kerr, Allitt, Lyon, Buster, Kerr's mechanic & the start marshall I think were just chatting away, minding there own business and Bridger just streamed into Lambert, going nose to nose. Bridger went to nut the lad and Kerr pushed Bridger away and that's when Bridger properly flipped his lid It was not acceptable to behave in that manor. Heat of the moment stuff people can accept but this wasn't anything of the sort I'm afraid. Hopefully, the club have put plans in place and put a ban on Bridger from attending the Norfolk Arena except for when racing -

IMO no. Lambert came underneath Rose who became startled, lost control, straightened up and ended up in the fence. To be fair, it looked like one of those every day slide offs we see all the time. It wasn't rally at to high speed either -

I lost all respect for him tonight. Absolutely horrendous behaviour. He actually squared Lambert up and went to headbutt him. The lads 15 FFS. I've stuck up for Bridger from day one as I've always believed one day he'll come good. He quite clearly showed his true colours tonight and in fact I go as far as he should get a ban. For the first time in a while I'm actually shocked. Sorry Bridger but you're an utter loser. -

What started off as a nice evening turned into a nightmare. Lewis Rose suffered back injuries in a heat 10 crash. Lambert came underneath Rose to chase down Worrall (I think) who was leading which unsettled Rose (but wasn't touch by Lambert at all) and came off into the fence. Because the County Ambulance wasn't available the meeting had to be abandoned as the track Ambulance then had to take Lewis to hospital. Hopefully it's nothing to serious for Rose and what a sad way for him to celebrate his Birthday. The saddest part in all this though was Lewis Bridger's reaction. I had a lot of respect for Bridger but not now. He just lost it and wanted to take on Lambert, Kerr etc in full view of everybody at the track. I have no idea what that idiot was thinking. He now lives with Lewis Rose -
In my opinion, there isn't much wrong with the sport or the rules. The issue I have is individual promoter's interpretation. The rules should be managed and controlled by the SCB stringently. Only a small tidy up of the rule book is required and the main one to go for me is the bloody "in the best interest of British Speedway" rule. It's that, that causes so many problems. That alone allows interpretation. There should be one man in charge and that persons interpretation counts, only then will there be less contradiction. The very basics of the sport are still there for us all to love. What I would love though is an introduction of fines for poor track perpetration, that is the biggest killer to our sport
-
So it's rider quality over quality racing for you then???
-
Absolutely right racers and royals. Far too many fans still hold the EL in to high regard when the reality we're 5th in the priority list behind Poland, Sweden, Russia & Denmark, we're even 6th with some preferring the Czech league too. I don't fall for this drastic crowd lose if we loose the top riders rubbish. Most people turn there backs because the product isn't good enough not because because of some bloke's name under a red, blue, white or yellow helmet colour. We need to peg this sport in the UK back a bit and just sign riders that commit to every meeting as priority. So if that means loosing Iversen, Lindgren, Holder, Ward etc then so be it. It would then just prove my point one. Once that's all sorted we can only then look at the league structure
-
I'm not to fussed about the so called "big boys" of speedway at all. Riders come and go all the time and new heroes rise to the top. Elite League or not, not bothered.
