Those who have been sticking up for Chapman need to give their heads a huge shake.

If there is a party willing to take Peterborough Speedway off his hands, just let them have it FFS. The way he has conducted himself this season has been an absolute joke.

What is there to actually sell?

Lynn's fans have been sick of him for a long time. And that farewell meeting is nothing short of a disgrace. Clearly put together on the cheap hoping for a huge crowd and one last big payday for him. Shameful.

Despite his son being a flash pr**k in some peoples eyes, the minute he left Kings Lynn the place went downhill.

I get that Chapman is a businessman and has lost a chunk of money at Peterborough but that in itself should tell you that he has two options. 1. Take whatever amount he is being offered or 2. Keep hold of it and make absolutely nothing back. If he is this astute businessman that people have claimed, he should be taking option 1.

It all reminds me of 2012 at Newport when Phil Morris was trying to buy Newport Speedway from the Mallett family and they wouldn't sell, instead leaving the place derelict and vandalized until the landlords reclaimed it and sold it on to another haulage company. Bitter at the thought of seeing someone else making a go of it. That is exactly what seems to be happening here.

Don't think anyone is sticking up for Chapman. Just highlighting to the delusional that Peterborough Speedway has a value, whether that's as a going concern or not.

Didn't we see a similar situation of Horton even blocking the use of 'Coventry Bees' by a fans group or something similar? Can't remember.

All we're saying is Chapman sees value in what he holds & that's his perogative, regardless of our opinions. I'm by far a fan of Chapman, he & Allitt are the reason I no longer attend King's Lynn, but it doesn't mean I have to lose sight of reality.

On the matter of valuation. When it comes to an acquisition it will be necessary to determine if the intended purchase is that of a "going concern" or an "asset  purchase". If it is the latter then you are correct, it should be straightforward to reach an agreement of the value of the material assets in question.
However, the current owner is within his rights to regard this as a sale of a business (it is immaterial that it does not have a place to ply trade from) and as such the valuation of a going concern would be required(even if not currently trading). This will  then take into account both tangible and intangible assets.
Put another way, the current owner would not just be selling lights and a safety fence, but the club name, history and license to promote etc  and so should a place be found to ply the trade by the new owners then they would immediately benefit from the goodwill (intangible asset) involved i.e. the  supporter base, sponsors, Press relations to name a few.
The alternative being, amongst other things, buy new lights safety fence, track equipment find a place to trade (hold meetings) then apply for a promoters license for a new club using a new name.

It will be interesting to see which way this matter goes. Maybe the current owner will wish to be charitable.

Tried explaining this loads but Peterborough fans keep saying "there's nothing to sell". They don't seem to realise the rights Chapman holds.

They don't understand Chapman owns the rights to the team being called 'Peterborough' in the city. He owns the the naming rights of 'Panthers'. Regardless of the fans opinion Chapman sees that these things have a monetary value & those are to be valued as he sees fit. If he wants £10k or £1m, that's the price, if it's not paid they'll be no 'Peterborough' 'Panthers'.

So, you want speedway to become a contact sport? The more riders in hospital the better, eh?

Taking someone to the airfence doesn't require contact, just take the space away, but to a point yes, it's always added to the sport throughout it's history. Of course, nobody WANT serious injuries but it's part & parcel of this game.

Hard but fair should always be in this game.

If they went a bit faster into the bends he wouldn’t be able to dive bomb them. It’s not his fault they are slow .

Never said it's Zmarzlik's fault did I? It's the fault of the rest of the field. SGP has become to soft. I'd be riding him to the fence but it just doesn't happen much, if at all anymore at this level. Even in the Ekstraliga Zmarzlik is heavily protected.

I desperately want to see a peak Nicki Pedersen type rider back in the series but there's nobody out there.

  5. AEPG quite clever here.

They're making a clear statement of what they can do for the wider community of the City of Peterborough.

They will also be making very clear that Peterborough Speedway are running a closing down meeting, along with the meetings gone by, none of the finances coming through the gate is going back to the community. A totally 'none charitable' business.

Let's be honest,  take away being a Speedway fans, out of 365 day, Peterborough Speedway plays out for just 30 days a year to the same 1000 (guesstimate) fans per 30 days. What is that delivering to the greater community??

The council will see in the end, what an absolute waste of vast space that is compared to the new plan for that space.

It can be a very very heavy battle when you go up against a charitable business.

It won't take long before the tag lines of "look at Speedway fans, happy to take food out of starving childrens mouths just for their 30 days a year." etc

Helps that the other riders just wave him through when he is behind which makes him look faster.

    Get real.

I tend to agree with CR, had Zmarzlik been in the Crump, Pedersen, Gollob, Rickardsson era he'd have been eating much much more plywood.

Absolutely nobody want to ride him to the fence when he goes round them. When he dive bombs, nobody tactically jumps off their bike.

    Speedway has become to nice

  7. As horrific as the line-up looks, what else is there to be expected?

It shows the dumbing down of the league over the last decade.

No top rider's in the SGP & Ekstraliga have any relevance to Peterborough Speedway.

Are we expecting Crump, Sullivan to don the kevlars again & just ride around at the back waving??

The 3rd and 4th teams are in the play off finals the top team Bellevue finished 10 points in front of Ipswich and 7 in front of Sheffield meaning they were the best team over the season . So we have a position where the team that finishes 4th from the top and 4th from the bottom winning the Micky Mouse league laughable

Plus the 2 teams in the final have the same major sponsor. End of the season has worked well for them

Yes, it would affect the guest for Woffinden as the same rider couldn't guest tomorrow and next Thursday for Sheffield at Owlerton - maybe a different guest will be used tomorrow to free up a preferred guest for the final? Lambert for Musielak is fine as per previous posts.

That's the issue Neil. It's suggeated that Sheffield have penciled in to use Lambert for tomorrow & the final. Whether it's for Musielak or Woffinden is irrelevant as the 8 day rule is still effective.

It is British Speedway though so who knows

Harris has already made a guest appearance for Ipswich at Home to BV so per the rules he wouldn't be allowed to guest for another play-off team.

That rule doesn't exist. You just can't ride for both teams in a 2 leg tie. If anything happened to any of Ipswich's top 2 there'd be nothing stopping Lambert riding against Sheffield in the final

The few on here are only a small fraction of the fans attending the Showground. If Lynn sign a few  of the Panthers best riders, i can see a 2/300 out of the 1200/1400 or so making the trip over, if Lynn have a competitive team.

Absolutely no chance. 20/30 more likely, 50 absolutely tops

  12. Seems some are being confused as to what planning permission is for.

Any land owner can remove any buildings that doesn't have any existing use & or listed status without council permission.

Once the season ends the land owner can remove the stand & plough over the track, nothing can stop that.

Only an objection order can prevent the demolition but this has to be in place before the last meeting. Any delay (November onwards) would likely be to late.
