I agree. Injuries permitting we'll be in the mix I'm confident about that. Still over 8 weeks away. Starting to drag a bit!! Will surely be Rye on the 19th I'd have thought? We now know we ride them away on the 21st so the smart money would be Rye at home.

Increased attendances? When I went to the stocks a couple of months back they looked the same as they always have, pretty good. The speedway of course different kettle of fish. Just like everywhere else the crowd levels seem to be falling year on year. The figures that were bandied about for the improvements already made were quite substantial if I remember rightly. Not sure what return they're currently getting on that investment but there you go, it's their money to do as they please I suppose. From what's been said though, you can't help but wonder that they made those improvements on the promise that they were eventually buying the stadium and it was eventually going to be theirs. We don't know the ins and outs though so probably best not to speculate further..

Still none the wiser! Why would someone who doesn't even own the actual stadium spend so much money on it? Was it spent because they had an "agreement" with the owners on a price and they were sure they were buying it, before the goalposts were seemingly moved on a price by the current owners? If that's the case then it could get messy!

The current stadium owners, or the "chap that owns speedworth south" who thought he was buying the stadium?

Sorry but looks very ordinary to me too and definitely not top 4 as it stands. Long season though and as others have said, pretty much guaranteed that this won't be the septet next October.

Peterborough have completed their team with Greenwood and look pretty tasty. Hopefully It's another double header on Good Friday (with a much better Foxhall track please Chris!) Looking forward to it already could be a couple of belters.

The riders themselves may have a say also. Hawkins had already made the decision to stop spannering for King next season way before he signed for us as he wanted to fully concentrate on his racing. He may have the same feelings about the captaincy who knows. I have said King would be my choice, and he would be all things being equal. But Hawkins had the job this season and if he wanted to hold on to it, then perhaps it's best to keep him happy and let him continue. Not as if he did a bad job of it and if he thrives on the extra responsibility and it gets that little bit more out of him then all well and good. I always thought it was just the lowest two averaged riders have to be at reserve, but you could have them in any order you like. Could be wrong though as things seem to change constantly in this sport!

Let's not forget King has already been Ipswich skipper in the past too, and I remember plenty thought he also was one of the best we've had. It's between the two of them anyway and can't really go wrong with either.

Who do we go for as Captain next season? Hawkins was captain last year and seemed to do a pretty good job, so there is definitely a case for not taking it off him. On the other hand, with all due respect to him, he looks the weak link in the 1-5 as his 5 point average was achieved riding at reserve practically all year so he's got a big season ahead to at least maintain that level if we're going to be successful. Is there a case for giving the captaincy to someone else, and let Hawkins concentrate 100% on his own riding? Danny King is our top man, number 1, and has plenty of experience now as a captain himself so for me I'd give Danny the captaincy and let Hawkins put all his efforts in to his own riding. As for riding order, it's pretty common to go with your weakest rider at 2 so Hawkins at 2 partnering King? Could be a decent partnership as both are good mates also.

The Americans were the best at team riding back in the 80's IMO. I can remember Sigalos virtually stopping on a corner waiting for his team mate at Foxhall

Thats my understanding too. Who cares really none of us are getting the loan fee. The only thing Peterbrough are concerned with is Blackbird missing meetings so it doesn't affect them in that way either.

How can you gain an asset by exchanging a rider from another club? Blackbird and Oliver Rayson swapped clubs, but Rayson wasn't Mildenhall's rider to swap, he was an Ipswich rider. Obviously Chris Louis was behind that deal as he was involved with both clubs. It's a strange one.

The "official" line is that Blackbird is a Mildenhall asset. However, Blackbird was exchanged for Olly Rayson who was an Ipswich asset and not Mildenhall's to exchange. Chris Louis was at the time the promoter at both clubs but has since quit his role at Mildenhall so he's now either a Mildenhall asset, an Ipswich asset or simply a Chris Louis asset!

You have to factor in that the younger members of the team should be improving. Manzares for example now has a season's racing under his belt and raced all the tracks so in theory should do even better next season. Doesn't always happen like that obviously but there looks to be improvement in a fair few members of the team. Heeps could well be our biggest improver if as it looks, he's over his hand injury.

Who cares!!?
