  1. No, we currently live under a coalition government formed by two parties who came together after an inconclusive election, traded horses and formed a government. As of yet, none of the other parties have engaged legal counsel to decry this undemocratic process in the way that Messrs Sandhu and Frost have regarding the BSPA.

If the latest reports are true then I consider it a disgrace that Coventry are being allowed back into the EL and the only hope can be that it is as the result of a humiliating climb-down from Brandon. If the BSPA have buckled then that body is pathetic.

Is it safe to assume you are unhappy with the latest news?

  2. Now that Coventry and Peterborough are not likely to be competing in the 2011 EL, thoughts have to turn to the riders. They have found themselves out of work and 14 into 7 won't go. So which of the riders will manage to find a tem berth elsewhere in 2011, or will there be no space at the inn?

Harris. With Hans being touted at the Birmingham number one, no room there. So his only choice is likely to be Kings Lynn. They would want him on their track and would make a god number one for them.

KK. Likely to be one of Sandhu's victims. He wants to ride here but if the one rile over 8 stands he is likely to miss out, which is a shame.

Kennett. Could fit him in at Poole. Lives in the area and is mates with Holder and Ward. Good chance of a ride.

Bridger. Eastbourne would welcome him back with open arms.

Pawlicki. Unlikely to get a ride over here in 2011.

Barker. Might be able to slot him in at Brum or KL?

    Sweetman. Brum

Of course if Peterborough follow suit another 7 riders will be chasing places.

Bjerre could find himself out of the EL

    Batchelor to Kings Lynn?

    Iversen?

    Schlein?

    Buczkowski miss out

    Kosciuch miss out

There's likely to be at least 3 riders missing out who would warrant a team berth. Plus Oakes and Rosco looking for work. And all over 15% and bloody mindedness. How sad is that?

You never miss a trick do you?Talk about putting the knife in and giving it a twist, and don't give us the BS about how sorry you are, because we know you are not.

This move by the bees & panthers is all about trying to break open the cartel which is crippling this sport, if it fails british speedway will be minus two more teams because I don't believe that on this occasion there will be any u turns by the clubs.

  3. I think you got to look at the big picture and if British speedway loses sky sponsorship it could be the final nail on British speedway so it could be for the good of speedway for lynn to go elite .

Looking at the bigger picture as you suggest, don't you think it would be for the good of speedway if the clowns who come up with these decisions got into the "real world" and got the Bees & Panthers back on board PDQ.

  4. Well done to Gollob fully deserved.

Thought the ref was a joke though. hampel looked like he had Harris in the semi final. The front on shot showd it. Wouldn't have altered anything in the scheme of things but unfair on Hampel.

Also the farcical decision to exclude Hans when Holta rode into the back of his was a complete joke!

Again well done to Gollob. Definately the best rider in 2010. Will be party time in Poland for the last GP.

Isn't it a shame that a british speedway supporter can't find a " well done " for his countries top rider after a sterling performance in Italy tonight?

  5. The first Provincial League Riders' Championship Final (described on the cover of the meeting programme as the Final Round of the Provincial Riders' International Championship, and on the inside pages as the Final of the Provincial Riders' Individual Championship) was held on 24th September 1960 at Cradley Heath. The winner was Trevor Redmond.

The following year the meeting was held at Harringay, on 16th September 1961 - the winner was Reg Reeves.

And if I remember correctly Trevor Redmond snapped a chain in one race, which cost him the title that year.

  6. Agree, should be a great weekend. although getting a 6.25 flight tomorrow morning is a bit of a downer, having to get up at 3am is even a bigger downer, hardly seemes worthwhile going to bed!

The Prague meeting used to be so good, all the top riders, but over the last 4-5 years it's been the lower order riders and not the GP stars and I guess this year will be no different. Overall though should be a great weekend and even the weather forecast isn't to bad either, just wrap up well will be the order of the day and take some wet gear just in case!

Just checked the forecast for Pardubice over the weekend and it looks like it will be dry but cold. Fri 12 degrees Sat 9 Sun 8.However I expect the speedway will take our minds off the weather.

  7. Could someone with experiance of travelling to the Golden Helmet give me an idea/example of the itinary.

    - Do you stay in Prague or Pardubice?

    - If so, is public transport recommended to/from the meeting?

    - Is the meeting itself any good, is it usual end of season fair....

    - How much is it to get in? I am assuming it's cheaper than GP's, but then there seems to be a lot of riders there who need paying?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Bezza

I was at the last Golden Helmet meeting in October. Stayed in Pardubice this time and found it very enjoyable.

From Prague caught the train to Pardubice appox 1.hr journey time cost about 3 pounds per person each way.If you get therearly there is a junior meeting held on the Saturday and you can buy tickets very cheaply 4-12 pounds and that is for both meetings. The racing is excellent big wide fast track,no end of season fair here.To get to the stadium from the town centre we used taxis they hike the prices but it still works out cheap at approx 3 pounds per head.A note of caution if you decide to base yourself in Prague check the train timetable for schedules on Sunday evenings after the meeting finishes as I don,t thinkthere are too many trains running at that time. It is a great weekend and well worth the effort

  8. Surely the SWC can only be raced on an FIM approved track? Therefore it has to be at either of the following: Poole, Eastbourne, Swindon, Peterborough or Sheffield.  Not sure about Coventry, think they lost FIM status a few years ago, unless they have re-applied since the improvements have gone on - maybe a Bees fan would know?

Don't think Coventry have lost the FIM status, they just lost the GP's when the Cardiff deal was done.

  9. The problem with certain people in the BSPA is their negative thoughts and the continual desire to level down.

If we take your arguement as correct then such tactics the EL would soon be run with only the 3 or 4 richest teams running. Sport doesnt reflect life in so much that if fans dont believe they have a chance of winning or at best being competitive they wont support you. Thats a fact of life, look at the numbers of man u or arsenal shirts you see in Coventry.

The bees have won nothing for years but they are very well supported. The fact is the club has to try, not throw the towel in and say play by our rules or we take the ball home.Sandhu is a new promotor this year but you didn.t see him running to the conference asking for team strengths to be reduced to cut his costs,he has attacked the business in a positive manner and supported his team 100%.He has actually stated that costs will not be cut because last seasons second strings will now ask for heat leader money. For his troubles he now been well & truly kicked in the backside by the weak spined people who run this sport.Dekker if you genuinely believe I am wrong have a look round a few of the other forums and see what public opinion is.

  10. Stop whinging for gods sake - you've just signed one of the best British prospects, so why not forget about the idea of keeping all your assets and letting others struggle, and look around you!!!  The sort of team Coventry could put out next year, even without Hamill/Jonsson/Richardson (delete two of three!) will be exciting, young and capable of winning you something at last.  And more importantly for the SPORT, rather than your very small part of it, all teams have the ability to compete on an even palying field!!!

Unfortunately Lupus you don,t seem to understand that there will always be winners and losers. If you give two people 10 grand each and tell them to go out and make their fortune one will come back with 20 grand & the other with nothing thats whats called "life".The problem with certain people in the BSPA is their negative thoughts and the continual desire to level down.If we take Ipswich as an example, they have been very succesful over recent years and have a retained list to be proud of.The fact that they have not been able to build on that success is hardly the fault of anyone other than the promotors of Ipswich Speedway. We are told that this new system is to encourage the new teams inthe elite league. Why should we?Terry Russell has his fingers in three tracks now, at Swindon he has bought the contract of Leigh Adams ,at Eastbourne he has a surplus of riders that will probably end up at one of the new tracks effectively keeping all his riders in work.He will be the big winner in all of this.At Coventry we have always built for the future,The introduction of Jonsson ,Janniro,& Fisher to Britain are the recent examples.Add to that the club has never been afraid to put their hands in their pockets to by a rider when necessary. Now if other promoters are unable or unwilling to compete on these terms thats, hardly the problem of Coventry Speedway, and now we are forced to dispose of two of our top riders who are not necessarily guaranteed to find other clubs . Who,s the loser there? Not the new teams in the league but the two riders concerned ,and the management of Cov and all the fans.I suggest you put your obvious dislike of the Bees to one side and then perhaps some" rational thinking" might be more evident.

  11. What's the betting we're in for a repeat of 1995!!!

If that means the Promoters accepting that they've got it wrong and changing things, then that has got to be a good thing - let's hope they are big enough to admit they've made mistakes and rectify them. :approve:

I'm all for them changing their mind but not if it means that the 'new' teams can't get any decnet riders whilst 'other' teams - I'm not ALLOWED to mention who  - are sooooooo desparate to win something, they get their own way and keep their heat leaders!!! :o

If it can be gauranteed that Arena and Swindon (and Ipswich..... AND Oxford) can get two 8+ point riders to compete wih those who've already GOT this, then I say fine - however if it's only being done because certain promoters (who I CAN'T name :P ) want to gain an advantage NO MATTER WHAT, then I have severe reservations to say the least!!!

I have NO problems with then changing the damn stupid GD rule - or even looking again at how the grading will work but whatever they decide should be in the best interests of the sport, not just the select few who kick up the biggest stink!!!!

Gemini and Heathen - The problem is that Mr Pratt has been one of the worst examples of 'shrewd management'/'rule manipulation'/'bending of the rules'/'cheating' (delete as necessary dependant upon the tint of you glasses) over the last 20 or so years. Is it any wonder that I suspect him whenever anything of this ilk arises?!!! ;):P

I thought the whole idea of competition is trying to win.Quite rightly the Bees, and their fans, are devastated at the thought of giving up two of their heat leaders.Indeed why should they give up riders to accomodate new teams when both the new clubs already have a wealthy benefactor in Terry Russell. He has done very well from the Sky deal .I suggest he should finance his own teams and leave the other clubs to do the same.

  12. Grading riders is pants!

This way one team could have 1 rider on 9.99 and another tem have a rider in the same grade on 9.00 thats 0.99 difference, thats difference multiplied by 7 is nearly 7 points. Poole (richest club) to win the leage and Ipswich(poorest) to get a wooden spoon then. Well done the BSPA!!

The points limit is one of the few things that works, why piss about with it?!

Who says Poole are the richest club? They have a team of loanee,s and a rented stadium,to be considered rich a club needs assets.Matt Ford could walk away anytime and leave Poole speedway with nothing.
