Being co-promoter and part custodian of the Coventry name at the point the club closed you have arguably done more to ruin Speedway in this country than any other man with the exception of Mick Horton... so I'll take no lessons on how a club should be run from you.

In case you need your memory jogging:

Just search for "Watson" you actually get a couple of mentions

I was thinking something along the same lines.

Although I accept that the only name over the door of Coventry Speedway at this time was that of the infamous M Horton, Neil Watson's long association as his co promoter inevitably means he will be tarred with the same brush.

I would describe their time as Brandon as at best very poor , at worst abysmal, & if were in Neil Watson's position I would be keeping a very low profile not bulling myself up as someone of importance in British speedway

If you was in a pub would you correct a stranger on they're grammar?...no, because you would probably get punched in the face...so don't do it on here unless you want to be hated...no one likes a smart arse..

After reading this post it's understandable why you are not keen  on having grammar errors highlighted.:)

Well It’s groups of 6 on the bends as well on bubbles, so I have a choice.

    1. Pay £108 to watch the meeting. (Price of 6 tickets)

    2. Stay at home and forget about it.

    3. Buy 6 tickets and tout 4 outside to strangers and sell one to my mate.

    4. Find 4 others who are willing to PayPal me the price of a ticket which will be picked up from me at the gate or posted to them. At least this way singles will get it to the meeting.

Once again you show total disregard for the rules laid down by the "decision makers" who are doing this in the interests of the safety of the  majority .

It is just another indication of your selfishness & complete  lack of concern for others, almost as bad as your rants over brexit.

We seem to be blessed with many good podcasts at the moment and while some seem to have fallen by the way, others have come to the party. 2 that I have listened recently that are worthy of mention feature 2 riders from opposite ends of the Speedway spectrum but both great characters.

Nigel Crabtree on the Super Seven podcast, no heirs and graces, what a great character, the type of character that Speedway sadly misses, a solid top class club man just happy to have some fun, make some money and no particular desire to become a wold champion.

    and...

Ole Olsen, I don't think I ever really appreciated what a charismatic man he is/was. Listening to him reminded me a bit of Tony Rickardsson. The story about the trophy he won at Newcastle had me laughing out loud

    Give em a listen

A great chat with the O O . i was at the Sheffield meeting ( British Scandinavian World Champ Qualifier) &recall that Ole won his first race against 3 other Scandinavian riders. He finished with 5 points that night but he made an impression with me & i followed his progress via the speedway star when he came over to UK to ride at Newcastle. When he moved to the Midlands i was able to watch him regularly. His move to Brandon was "utopia " for me & the coming together of the C O & Ole was a match made in heaven. He is,as you say very charismatic, & I remember being one of the many recipients of a wave from both him and his wife when they passed us  driving down the M6 to wembley  with my Ole Olsen sticker in the rear window. My two youngsters in the back were "made up" they really were the great days of speedway .

  6. What a tremendous race meeting this was.  Five of us  travelled by car to Prague for a few days & took in this meeting. We sat up in the main stand  along with a few other Brits ,& must have made so much noise that after the presentation the top three riders came up to have a chat & say "thanks for the support." A day that I will always remember. and another opportunity to spend some time in a wonderful city. Great times.

Apparently someone has tried to access my account or it has been used inappropriately! Following their guidelines I need to scan my passport and/or driving licence and/or marriage certificate(?) or any manner of documents to prove my identity so as to re-activate my account...bollocks to that!

    A blessing in disguise I would suggest.:D

Me, great track but stadium does nothing for me, hence the only time I go is when I’m working there  either mechanic or other job, think I’ve been once just to watch

Given the confines that were in place , ie space & finance, i think we should be extremely grateful that we have the NSS as it stands. I don't see any other areas of the country where anything any better is proposed currently.

How long did it take them to find a Driver

    Boom Boom

The problem with the buggy was that it is very small & if there were a lot of people trying to get on to go up to the stadium it became a bit of a Wedge.

Perhaps they could arrange to" putter nother " one on

Is this the same Mr Ochiltree whose sold Leicester Speedway Stadium and the promoter Martin Rogers only found out about by reading the local paper

Sold West Ham as well, to the dreaded GRA, to help fund the new grandstand at Brandon stadium.

So we have a guy who put 50 successful years into speedway promotion, (wouldn't it be great if we had a few individuals with that commitment nowadays), being accused of selling off stadiums when we know he was just one of several directors of Midland sports stadiums ltd & as such would not be the sole decision maker.

Brings to mind Loomer Road, Stoke. Anybody else remember, at certain times of the season, those pauses in racing to wait for the sun to set?

From the first bend at Halifax, there was a view into the pits. Worth arriving early to secure a prime spot. Watching the tinkering helped pass the time between heats.

I can recall the time that the Stoke stadium had a visit from the local vandals & it was alleged that they caused £35000 worth of improvements to the place .:D
