I seem to remember reading that the 'new' Wembley stadium was re-positioned as previuosly half the pitch was often in shadow causing problems on occasions?

Given the performances of many of the English football teams at Wembley since the "famous day in 66", it might have been a good idea if the whole pitch had been covered in darkness.:D

    Been a few near misses..

But also a good many 'no where nears'...:D

A shame this season didnt happen as with Lidsey at reserve it could have been a title winning year..

    I bet he gets a re-assessed 7 point average next year now!!:D

Depends whether your club officials are considered to have been "naughty"at any time recently & as such require some form of punishment.:D

I am told this is a reference to motorsport/speedway at Brandon Stadium, Coventry. On my part I cannot seem to trace it. Can anyone please find and explain what it is all about? Thank you: === 'Lawrence v Coventry (No. 3) [2015] Supreme Court judgment'

I think you will find that this is, in fact, the case regarding Mildenhall Speedway & two local residents.

Nothing to do with Brandon Stadium whatsoever

One of my favourite ever riders..

Used to use a uni cycle to practice balancing...

Several times I  saw him slide off' and then picked the bike up all in one movement and carried on..:o

I remember him doing it at Kirky Lane and getting excluded because (I think) Ronnie Correy laid his bike down to avoid him..

His face must have been a picture, laying a bike down to avoid another rider and that rider clearing off into the distance..:D

And Wolves '93 for me gave me one of the best nights ever of my life..

I can still see Peter Karlsson and Henka Gustafsson talking tactics at the gate of the Championship last heat decider when Bobby rode in between them and said something along the lines of  "Hi Guys, isn't this great?"..:D

And then went off and won the race handing the Aces the title..

An Aces legend for ever more...

That was a tremendous night at Monmore Green. Do you recall Karlsson's last bend manoeuvre which got him an exclusion from the race? An odd move from him considering the meeting was lost with Ott winning ..:D

Totally agree. I know that winning often requires some 'luck' or decisions that are maybe badly mis-judged by the official in charge but the Ermolenko incident was very clear and not open to interpretation.

I firmly believe that decision by Frank Ebdon was more to do with ensuring Nielsen didn't win the title that year..

It was downhill from there for the Elite League, culminating in the closure of one of the sports longest running, most successful and best supported teams.

Absolutely, I know I shouldn't really" go there" as it's going over old ground  once again but it still hurts 10 years on.

Wasn`t that the time that they brought in the new rule you could only have two riders above eight point average and  Coventry had three ! don`t think it was so much about the points limit. but hey I might be wrong.

I had it in my mind that it was more about the conversion rate for riders moving up a league which was agreed prior to the AGM at a meeting that Coventry weren't invited to.Consequently that screwed up the bees plans as they had got deals to take two riders from the lower division Kenni Larsen being one (can't recall the other ).

Some people really need to give!! 2010 a rest Anyway I thought Matt tried to help save Coventry in the end?

I doubt you will get your wish. It is something that is part of the history of the sport & as such will continue to be a topic for discussion. It highlights the actions of certain members of the BSPA & their attempts to put others out of business using gutter tactics.

At least Poole benefitted from the excellent Readypower (Rick Frost) sponsorship afterwards when it became clear where the fault was!!:D

A very forgiving person is Rick Frost..  After all it takes a big man to get involved with one of the guys involved in trying to close him down when the bspa offered Coventry a route back in 2011, if they agreed to dump their stance with Peterborough. The guy you are trying to accuse quite rightly told them "to do one"

Perhaps thats why Poole are in the second division. !

Well Ford hasn't seen any of my cash since the fateful winter of discontent & I used to visit quite often prior to that.

I doubt that I'm the only one that has given him the cold shoulder either .

It won't be shown - its against the guidelines!!:D

If only we had realised at the time, the amount of conniving & underhandedness the result of that final would cause .The shenanigans that followed had a huge impact on British Speedway, & not for the better I might add.

  12. Jeff Davies' comments today.

    Jeff Davies@jeffdavies170

After yesterday’s fire, thank you to all those who offered messages of support. To those who were negative about the prospects of a return to Brandon - you’re wrong. We HAVE made progress. We WILL continue fighting it. We remain OPTIMISTIC.
