I can't agree with Berwick being that low. Think a lot of predictions placing Redcar high were before Jorgensen got injured.

There was a great many people placing Edinburgh, Workington & Plymouth in the bottom 3, so if that's accurate, it's 6 clubs fighting for the remaining 3 play-offs spots. Poole being certainties for me.

Personally I don't think Knudsen for Jorgensen changes an awful lot in terms of Redcar's chances.

Berwick just don't convince me, too many riders who won't improve and could go missing, plus they always seem susceptible to home defeats. They are arguably the best of the rest but I'd be astonished if they get anywhere near the top four.

Since the Speedway Star didn't do predictions like it used to, I added up these predictions to get an average. Like the speedway star used to do giving 1st = 9 pts & so on till 1 pt for 9th.

    1st Poole (7.3)

    2nd Redcar (6.8)

    3rd Oxford (6.15)

    4th Glasgow (6.11)

    5th Scunthorpe (6.0)

    6th Berwick (4.7)

    7th Workington (3.3)

    8th Edinburgh (3.1)

    9th Plymouth (1.6)

I would absolutely agree with that bottom four, I think that looks quite clear cut on paper personally. Just a question of who misses out on the Play Offs out of that top five.

You have obviously never been to the track in the last few seasons, the straits have always been wide,it was the entrance to the turns the made it tight and one line into the bends and they were widened 2-3 seasons ago.IMO it have not improved the racing so much as expected as the riders are now entering the turn on the fastest line now.But that’s how it is.

I have been (I enjoyed my visits), and I appreciate things have been widened and it's FIM standard. My point is that as with most tracks around a pitch the start/end of the straights will be a lot tighter than riders new to the UK are used to and its tricky. Even compared to places like BV, Worky, Scunny, Redcar, Glasgow etc.

It's no criticism of the track, just the reality of the confines of the stadium. I'm sure those three riders will be much better on their second visit.

Berwick can be as alien to a new rider as armadale is, remember nowak and Sam Jensen struggling badly on their first meetings there but improved drastically on next appearance. You'd think if cookie hadn't pulled out would've been nearer the 52-38. Hopefully just a precaution and he's fit for the competitive stuff

Agree with this, just because a track isn't small and tight doesn't mean its not difficult for a first time visitor. The narrow straights make it very tricky if you're not familiar with it.

After all the negativity he got on here, he deserves his plaudits.

Indeed, but it's one meeting against a, for whatever reason, woefully underprepared opposition. Masters and Boughen in particular are much better riders than that, really odd that they scored so badly.

As always Poole are going to be there or there abouts. Although I think they are going to find it harder away from home this year.

  6. I see that Plymouth had snow that settled last night! They really have had some incredible weather, I really don't think the early call offs are anything other than genuine.

As for the Covatti facility, I have mixed feelings but I think its common sense to grant some kind of facility. I'd always prefer R/R over borrowing other team's riders but it is what it is and the league needs all its teams to be competitive.

Agreed, while hailing an amazing comeback, they are glossing over the fact why they were so far behind possibly the least fancied team in Premiership history.

That being said they got the 2 points & have a guaranteed win & BP in the return leg, so no damage done to their play-offs aspirations.

Plus its very early days, I always think it takes a few meetings for men and machines to get into a rhythm. In an ideal world we would spar like Poland do so that everyone is in the full swing of things when league matches begin.

Now before the match, I think Birmingham would have been delighted with a point. But after leading by 10 points a couple of times, this has to be a major disappointment.

Again the lack of changes by Ermolenko has to be discussed, now he didn't make any awful choices, but you have to question Lampart being left in heat 12, Brennan not being in heat 15, and then even after losing a 5-1 not being picked for the "stupid heat".

I'm never a fan of putting a number 2 in heat 15, it always feels like too long since they last rode.

So good to be back. Leicester should have won by more with a dodgy ref decision going against us and gate 4 proving too dominant. Either way happy with a win and great to see so many wolves fans in the den.

I'd suggest Lynn had the roughest end of the pineapple in terms of the MPT/stating pole incident and Kemp clearly touching the tapes but Leicester probably just about deserved to win, there were clearly several rusty riders on show and I'm satisfied enough with a five point deficit.
