    Somerset And The Confederate Flag

No, if not both religions, then in one of them its definitely used both right facing and left facing. when the flags designer, Wiliiam T Thompson suggested the design to be used he wrote this about the flag in the newspaper in which he was a co-founder and a writer of. "As a people, we are fighting to maintain the Heaven-ordained supremacy of the white man over the inferior or colored race; a white flag would thus be emblematical of our cause… Such a flag…would soon take rank among the proudest ensigns of the nations, and be hailed by the civilized world as THE WHITE MAN'S FLAG.… As a national emblem, it is significant of our higher cause, the cause of a superior race, and a higher civilization contending against ignorance, infidelity, and barbarism."

    Somerset And The Confederate Flag

Ironically, as horrified as we would be to see any team using the swastika, its origins are a lot more peaceful than the confederate flags. Before the Nazi's decided that they wanted it as their symbol the swastika was (and still is) used in Hinduism and Buddhism.
  3. Without ever knowing its history, the first I really knew of the confederate flag was when Somerset Speedway began using as their club emblem and always associated it simply with being a "rebel". Since the Charleston shooting in the USA 2 weeks ago it seems that over there the flag has very racist connections. The creator of the flag William.T.Thompson referred to the design as "the white mans flag" With what the confederate flags symbolises in the USA should Somerset still continue to use it?

    Somerset 2015

With riders from Australia, in the past, being asessed as 7 points and having to attain that average to stay over and then the change in how averages are worked out now (no longer with bonus points) shouldn't the assessed averages reflect that they are no longer calculated using bonus points? maybe this is why they were at first reduced from a 7 to a 5?

    Back To Basics

with teams struggling so much to field 7 man temas due injuries and riders just not turning up, would/could 5 man teams work? 2x Heat leaders 2x second strings 1x reserve?

    Back To Basics

I'd like to see the scoring system go back to the simple 3 for a win 1 for a loss. I think it does make it overly complicated. For me when my teams lost they've lost, I dont see a bonus point as something to be happy with I simply see the fact that we've lost. It will intersting to see if the league tables would be different come the end of the season if we use the 3 for a win system compared to the current system. As it stands the EL would hae the teams in the same positions as they are right now. Not looked at the PL or NL tables.

    Tactical Sub Rule

i know one thing speedway fans hate is all the writing to be done in a programme but i like the idea of having more control over a teams tactics. I'd love to see a meeting run with a blank programme where the team managers choose the riders who go out race by race, only rules being being like now, a rider has to have a minimum of 3 rides unless injured and can only be replaced by a reserve for one of their four rides. if a rider is known to missing due to an injury/ other commitments a No8 would come into the team at reserve and the highest ave reserve would take the place of the missing rider (if the rider missing was in the top 5) heat 15 would then be contested by 2 of the top 3 scorers from their programmed rides, from each team. Would certainly living things up and bring a lot more thinking and tactics into a meeting!
  10. not on twitter, what was said?

    Nl Agm Cancelled?

might be because of your abruptness in your reply and seeming that if you know its not this date then you surely know when it is? Can you help us out as to when the meetiong will be? I was speaking to two NL riders on sunday at the NYC who also beleive it to be the 10th.
  13. Can't argue with your logic, though I do wonder if many, like me have come and had a quick glance in the individual sect and PL sect of the forum and assumed there just wasnt a thread started yet for this meeting.
  14. Why is this thread in the u15's section when its about, or what I'm assuming is, an individual meeting which will be made up of riders from both the EL and PL all of which are on the wrong side of 15 to be in this section of the forum!? Great to see new ideas being put into practice for bringing on the future of British speedway with a venture like this and hope it pays dividends in years to come!
