    Glasgow 2014

Unlikely as we already have an untried 5 pointer. More than 1 assessed rider at Glasgow usually spells disaster, like 2013.

    Glasgow 2014

Are we assuming that Ringwood has been signed but not announced? Hard now to find a final rider if he has. Still not seen Bager announced elsewhere!

    Edinburgh 2014

Fox might do ok at home being used to the small tight tracks over there. Just look at Fisher when he first signed for Edinburgh. The Monarchs have a long middle order of 5 point riders but that is the trade off for having a 10.5 rider in the team. The first set of averages could be interesting.

    Glasgow 2014

Vissing signs for Berwick. Could it be Wethers for us along with Ringwood?

    Berwick 2014?

Don't remember Berge getting an average with Berwick

    Cory Gathercole.

Of which there aren't nearly enough, the vast majority aren't good enough and those that are won't travel beyond their own doorstep. The Australians on the other hand supplement the PL because there aren't enough British riders and generally have no ties to a geographical area, meaning they will travel where they can get a team place.

    Edinburgh 2014

Sedgman is either a potential master stroke or reason for a stroke. In a strong team he will do well when there is no pressure on him. An interesting season ahead!

    Glasgow 2014

Doubt we could afford Magnus Karlson never mind fly him and Anders in every weekend. Next signing is a crucial one, as to whether we get a rider with average above 8 to go at No1 instead of Pijper or go with high averaged reserves.

    Glasgow 2014

More like embarrassment. Usually by ht4 we are a double figure score behind and struggle to reach 30 by the end. It would be nice just for once to be competitive at Edinburgh, even up to ht10 would do. However your point is right, home form first!

    Glasgow 2014

Finished at reserve in the strongest Tigers team of recent memory. He would have been displaced to reserve by the fast rising Morris.

    Glasgow 2014

Wishful thinking would say Wolbert, in fact that would be absolute fantasy! More likely to be Wethers, though Pijper would be top of the wish list. Would be annoyed if we rushed in for Rusty when we could get TP for 0.50 more points.

    Edinburgh 2014

Bearing in mind half our team were posted missing for the bulk of 2013, TP would be most welcome to return, Long Track or not.

    Glasgow 2014

An average of 6.63 could potentially see RH become a heat leader if we go for strength at reserve.

    Sheffield For Sale

What value could you attach to buying Sheffield? They rent their stadium rather than own it and like every other club their 'assets' aren't assets in the accounting sense but valueless bits of paper. I'm sure Sheffield will show a surplus income over expenditure most years and that would buck the trend for speedway. However what price can be determined for the rights to what is essentially a one day a week, summer only, semi professional sport? Having a speedway team seems a bit like owning an old house, great to have but will be a money pit and any likely interest will come from an enthusiast rather than business person. Sheffield also need an air or foam fence installed, £20k minimum that a new owner has to invest, that's a tough one to start! Hope it all works out regardless.

    Joe Jacobs And Pl

JJ was awful at Ashfield last year other than 2 decent matches in April. Couldn't seem to bridge the gap between NL and PL. He did seem to do well on the bigger tracks so Sheffield may suit him better. Would be very surprised to see him back at Glasgow, the fans are owed a decent home team and JJ wouldn't fit that. No issues with his attitude, we appreciate he travelled much further than his own doorstep unlike some British youngsters.

    Redcar Bears 2014.

Did you ever see Havvy away from home in his final 2 seasons? Truly awful, made Les Collins final year at Glasgow seem credible. Havvy looked like he was heading for a reserve berth, despite his home form.

    Glasgow 2014

That's what we thought about 2013, the problem is that young upwardly mobiles are hugely inconsistent. Upwardly mobile is also subjective as we've had many a 'prospect' at Glasgow with only a select few actually making any impact. Genuine young riders on the up are unlikely to come to unfashionable Glasgow and we also couldn't afford them. 2014 needs to be a team of seasoned performers, we don't expect a top line No 1 but we do need strong starting reserves that can interchange throughout the season with the struggling second strings.

Rhyme's with kite. Never did hear if Bager or Jacobs registrations were purchased.

    Glasgow 2014

Wonder if the next signing will be another familiar Dane! I keep thinking that on a 5.30 average he couldn't be much worse but actually he might just be the same as 2013 which won't do. Interesting that Theo Pijper was billed as appearing last night, he would be a most welcome signing. A solid second string and good home rider, something we really didn't have this year. Also, we are making signings but have no recognised team manager. As a point of interest who is making team decisions?

    Berwick 2014?

Thomsen was his own worst enemy, often riding an engine that wouldn't last 2 laps then scoring big points back in Denmark a day later. When he was on song he was excellent just it wasn't often enough.
  21. Incredible season for Grajczonek, PL winners medal with Somerset and an EL winners medal with Poole to add the 2011 PL medal won with Glasgow.
  22. Its somewhat reassuring to know that experienced promoters have lost money. Looking at Eastbourne their owner has had to cover his costs of at least £70,000 in his machine tool business this year just to subsidise the speedway team. That's a phenomenal amount of money in one year. Owners or beneficiaries like this are few and far between, and I'm sure Dugard has had to subsidise Eastbourne most seasons, just not to the same extent. No one in their right mind would buy the club from him where it has shown loss after loss each year, and a phenomenal loss for 2013. As a businessman he must be considering whether to run at all next year as any venture must firstly cover its costs, and you wouldn't blame him for saying I'm not throwing any more money away, I'm closing the doors. So why do we have different expectations of the Glasgow owners? They lost £50,000 this year and are perfectly entitled to say I'm not throwing more money that my main business has to earn, out the window. Why people continually berate them as if they are the enemy is beyond me. I wouldn't do it if it were my money being lost and I doubt any of their moaners on here would either.
  23. We've been at Ashfield for 14 years. At what point did supporters from Shawfield decide Possil on a Sunday wasn't for them? Shawfield was notorious for cars being broken into, I don't believe PP is anywhere near as bad for this despite its reputation. We originally moved from Shawfield as we couldn't afford the rent, I don't believe we could afford it anywhere other than Ashfield, and even now Glasgow speedway cannot cover its costs. During the property boom of the mid 2000's vast swathes of land were bought up by developers to put into land banks, even the rubbishtiest areas you could imagine were being snapped up, just look at the houses built behind Ashfield. To find an alternative venue and its associated costs of laying a track with basic facilities and gaining permission would be huge. Also gaining planning permission from the general public who do not want speedway near them is asking a lot. We've got what we can afford, or not afford as this season has unfortunately shown.

    Fire At Glasgow

We cant get a break even crowd to come through the gates at Ashfield, try getting them to travel 30 miles away, and to the East!
  25. He's practiced before, no reason to suggest he'll come back this time!
