  1. We'll be needing a team manager now as well!
  2. Bager 0 1 1 1 = 3+1 Not even cutting it as a second string never mind the third heat leader we need him to be. Hopelessly inconsistent and surely can't be retained next year.
  3. If we can get Thomsen to do all the matches this season he will be a decent starting reserve for 2014 with around a 4.00 average. Though he really needs to get the engine problems sorted. Just like Grieves, Bager also has had an awful season. Don't think it matters the riding order anymore we just need to hope that just once this season everyone performs on the same day and we somehow win at home.
  4. Not a good night for Glasgow or Grieves, again. Potentially Screen's last ride if he is injured. Incredible that Anders Thomsen gets the nod for ht15 having only scored 4 to that point. Sums up our season.
  5. Ipswich are a more balanced side than Somerset last week and look decent throughout their 1-7. Think that will make them too strong for us and another away win. Won't be too disappointed if its as entertaining as last Sunday and a last heat decider.
  6. If James Grieves could get some speed into his engines hopefully he could get beyond the 5 or so points he is getting at home. Again Glasgow are too inconsistent to predict anything. What we get from North or Bager is anyones guess. Can only see a decent home win.
  7. Happened right in front of me, North wiped out Newman big style. From the apex of the bend you could see he wasn't going to make the pass. Frustrating as a cooler head could have seen Newman was being reeled in and would have got him at the next bend. An additional two points from the resultant 4-2 could have won us the match but ended up being reversed with North chucked out. He has done very little from the No2 berth since joining Glasgow other than Sheffield away, his gating is poor and all the signs seem to be he is finding the PL tougher than expected.
  8. Enjoyed today's match despite the scoreline. We had a bit of luck with Morris coming off trying too hard and Grajczonek also when his bike seemed to die on the fourth bend when leading. However North's stupid bringing down of Newman in ht8 was just desperate when he had the speed and laps to pass him. He was also racing Screen in his previous heat for no obvious reason. No complaints about Screen today, plenty about Grieves who was slow as sh*t again. Thought Ringwood was unlucky in ht12 to be excluded when Doyle came across to block the outside but locked up leaving Ringwood nowhere to go but run into him. Its tough going at the bottom!
  9. Says in the programme that its Glasgow's intention to declare at the AGM in November they will be running in 2014 . Perhaps the dropping of the price for the Sportsmans Dinner by £10 suggests not many tickets have sold and the fence won't pay for itself.
  10. Fair points, I mentioned on Easy Tiger that we are paying the price of taking a short term view to team building at the start of the season by fielding a weak line up. How much has it now cost to replace 2 riders then replace the replacements after a month? We have top get it right for next year, we won't get a third go at appealing for a work permit for another untried Australian. After signing a new out and out No1 we should build the team from the bottom up with a minimum of 8.5 points being spent on the reserves who can then interchange with underperforming riders in the main body throughout the season. For the last 2 weeks we have been undone by a 5.50 reserve running riot in Aspgren and Sneddon. Time it was our turn! He's been pretty awful at Ashfield for the bulk of the season after a promising start. Interviewed today he said he just can't get out of the starts and was replaced by Ringwood in one heat. Seems to ride better away from Ashfield. His full transfer from Ipswich has gone all quiet.
  11. Tortuous to watch Sneddon at reserve rack up paid 13, we can't stoop much lower. Edinburgh thoroughly deserved to win with their middle order of Fricke, Pijper and Tabaka coming up with some excellent points in addition to the others. Cook was illustrious again, getting a 5-1 in ht5 when off 15m and going after Screen right to the end in the final race. Dakota North lacked power and Thomsen seemed to have bike problems however it was much of the same from Glasgow. Jim McGregor had a bizarre afternoon, being quite pedantic about riders being at the tapes within the 2 minutes but taking ages between heats to actually put the 2 minutes on.
  12. Sunny just now with a strong wind. Forecast is heavy rain at 4pm so they better get a shift on and hopefully can the pointless parade!
  13. Disappointing result for Glasgow, even though we are rubbish thought we could maybe sneak a league point tonight. We seem to have been in the hunt until the retirees ride in ht13. Dakota North seems to have ridden well and given us some respectability, if only we could keep him for next year.
  14. Unfortunately he has been a damp squib at reserve other than in April. Generally picks up a couple of points in ht2 then does nothing thereafter. Glasgow are far too inconsistent to predict anything, a respectable 40 points would do.
  15. Until we get an official announcement on that, we can only fantasise about having a team that would be at least competent at home!
  16. Lawson is a younger version of what we have now at No1. Would have Theo back in a minute, one of the best second strings around but no chance Edin will let him go. I said above that we need to spend a min of 8 points on the reserves so they interchange with underperformers in the main body throughout the season. No ta for Sneddon or Jacobs think Ringwood would be a better 3 pointer thereafter Aspgren, Carl Wilkinson maybe. Sounds like Bager is assured of coming back next year and unless Berwick get in the way Thomsen should become an asset early next year. Perhaps the hardest replacement is for Grieves, workmanlike at home, with the occasional flyer and always certain of double figures. After signing a new No1 we should then build the team from the bottom up.
  17. Depends if we get to switch to a Friday next year however we definitely need an out and out number 1. I also think we should use at least 8 points for the reserve riders, Aspgren today was excellent on a 5.25 average.
  18. Rye House were excellent value considering they were effectively a 5 man team, had Nelson been there the score would have been bigger. Mellgren can consider himself unlucky to be disqualified for delaying the start in ht10 when to that point Bunyan had repeatedly not followed the starters instructions and kept pulling back from the tapes. For Glasgow, I just can't see a home win coming. Anders Thomson had as good a debut as you will see, really got stuck in whilst Dakota North looked wild. Three tapes exclusions didn't help for Glasgow, neither did Bagers fall on the last bend on a 5-1. Screen's legend status really is starting to diminish and Joe Jacobs has continued as he has virtually all season, couple of points in ht2 then nought thereafter. Hopefully just once before the end of the season all can click together, I doubt it will be next week though!
  19. Presumably North is at No2 to counter Bunyan however after today I would like to see him at No4 with Thomson moving to No2. With North out in the opening heat we may even win it!
  20. Berwick have got form there!
  21. Chazzer Wright at reserve for Jacobs or Ringwood?
  22. Think I'd prefer Thomsen at No2, No4 is a big ask for a new rider finding his feet and who has never seen Shielfield.
  23. Grieves last match at Berwick also.
