    Electric speedway the future??

Never work... The BSP would not be able to source enough extention leads long enough... And even if they did, they would inevitably all get tangled up by the end of lap four.... No doubt it is the future, so no doubt the BSP won't do anything with it... The real opportunity is to source 8 per team and just run then with box standard kit... Move the sport back to ground zero and start again afresh.... Would give a whole new meaning to "Ohm" advantage. ... I'll get me coat....

Witches v Aces Play off Semi Final 1st leg 29/9/22

Of course it makes more sense to potentially have four different riders riding in the play offs for the Aces, all from other teams in the same league, rather than making a signing to ride for them in all the matches... More sense to those who run the sport (appallingly), obviously.... They spend all season borrowing each others riders so I suppose four more times wont make much difference to how the sport is seen and judged... And whoever wins the league will get hardly a ripple of publicity anyway.. Just a shame an opportunity to being in another 'World Star' wasnt taken..

    Belle Vue 2023

Fait point.... As he hasn't rode over here for 3 years he really ought to be downgraded to a 4 point assessed man... Only if he signs for the Aces obviously.....

Witches v Aces Play off Semi Final 1st leg 29/9/22

My lad said "he looks like you"... Japanese top knot excluded obviously... I told him... "Valuvicivic went past Vaclac Milochictic like he was standing still, down the straightaway.. "

Witches v Aces Play off Semi Final 1st leg 29/9/22

Because that is all they can afford to run at...... When success costs too much in the top tier and they drop to mid table and lower, their fans foxtrot oscar leaving them with no profit... Hence better to run in the lower tier and make some cash with the usual glory hunting success...

The one that offers the easiest rides? Human nature...

Witches v Aces Play off Semi Final 1st leg 29/9/22

A different level... No Zagar, No Kurtz, No Doyle when he rides in the lower tier to take points off him.. A good, honest 100% GB rider... But he has a level...

Witches v Aces Play off Semi Final 1st leg 29/9/22

Great from the Aces engine room.. So often the weak link... Tom B also showing that he is "quite good" at the top level.... Well done Cookie too, won and got second in important races... The young German lad looks a talent too... Let Doylie win and pick up the pieces... Could be a team manager me...

    Swindon Robins 2020

"Hello Mr Left Side"... "Good evening Mr Right Side".. "What are your doing?".. "Absolutely no f'king idea"... NB: Given it involves UK Speedway there is a perverse synergy about this isnt there? Fred Karno will be turning in his grave...

Witches v Aces Play off Semi Final 1st leg 29/9/22

Danny King for me is always a catalyst for his teams come play off time... He always seems to end seasons well as the tracks get a bit more gripper and damper... Wouldn't surprise me to see him get a good double figure score tonight....

Witches v Aces Play off Semi Final 1st leg 29/9/22

I remember once against Cov when they let Crump score a full house but sat in behind and collected 3-3's... When is say 'let' they probably didn't but he was too good, so the game plan was just not concede heat advantages in his races... Same tonight for the Aces would work...

    Swindon Robins 2020

So the dogs are not closing...? Meaning the track will be viable...? So the Speedway can run....? As Jim from Friday Night Dinner may have said. .. "Confuuuuuused"!!!!.... The other question of course is that even if the dogs were closing, (which they now 100%, no chance, err err, no sureee, never on my watch, are now doing)... How do the many non dog track stadiums that run Speedway keep it viable and Swindon (with a bigger than most fanbase) couldn't? Must have been some serious crossed wires when they launched this new company mustn't there?

Witches v Aces Play off Semi Final 1st leg 29/9/22

Spot on... The drier, slicker conditions made the racing great at the NSS this year.. Especially as often the Aces were outgated but found the set ups to get the power down into the drier, slicker conditions and pass their opponents... There may have been 60-30's but if races had ended coming out of turn two lap one, I would suggest 46-44's would have been the order of the day on many occasions..... In the colder, damper nights, it is more gate and hold the line... And if your engines are quick enough, getting passed will not happen too often...

A steal.... However... You never know what regs may get made up to increase that to a six...

    Belle Vue 2023

On a four point average? Wasn't that his average a few years ago but he never rode....? If so. .. Happy days for the Aces I would suspect...

    Swindon Robins 2020

Having read his latest release, I would suggest he could be seen as being "too supportive" of the track being built by both the owners AND the promoters... Looks like he hasnt given up....

    Swindon Robins 2020

And those who have sat on this info are now working alongside those who have closed the club... Trust elements are so important for engagement of others aren't they? It appears the previous promotion have unilaterally closed the Robin's down... Even though a track for the Robin's is still required to be built... A track that surely someone would take on and at least see if they can run it... Especially in an area that has generated some of the best crowds in the country.. Which would increase undoubtedly in its first season back given fans will feel they have been so close to losing their team.. Maybe for the rest of the promoters losing another team helps them given there are already nowhere near enough riders to go round now to make the offering a credible one...? Finding another 7 Double Uppers might therefore be difficult, regardless off what league the Robin's race in... It would be interesting to hear the views of Robin's fans around how they feel they have been supported and communicated with over the past 3 years and having their team closed down on their behalf, especially when legally a track needs building...

    Swindon Robins 2020

Maybe? Keep your friends close.. But your enemies closer... It is though quite disgraceful the way the Swindon fans only found out about this was by a third party being a third party, in a (I presume private), communication release... I have always been surprised at the lack of an orchestrated protest group, (which should have come from the top for most gravitas), so maybe as we learn more of what has gone on with those now involved in the "new company", it may become clearer as to why no "major campaign" was forthcoming.. If the MP has made it clear no more houses can be built until the new stadium is built then the ONLY question needs asking is "WHEN WILL THIS HAPPEN?"... And to keep asking it daily until someone comes up with the answer.. And it doesnt have to be the old Swindon promotion who use it I presume? Bulld the stadium and then see who wants to promote there... The issue isnt whether the stadium is viable or not. The issue is it needs to be built to comply with the permissions granted... Non Negotiable that... If no takers after two years then knock it down and build housing on it...

    Belle Vue 2023

Why? Fixed race nights gone? They signed Doyle and ran in the top league but ran with many more fans on Saturdays when they dropped down and he left...

    Swindon Robins 2020

Get that to a degree, but... Many of the teams now defunct are in medium sized towns and cities and were able once to deliver a sizeable proportion of the local populace to attend each week.. Meaning they had influence... Those who run the sport over the past 3 decades have destroyed their very own fan base in lots of areas... 5000+ a week at these tracks and many would have stayed open.. I would suggest that there are considerably more fans of the sport, (like me), who cannot take it seriously, and therefore dont attend regularly, than those who do.. It wouldn't surprise me if there are more on here who dont regularly attend than those who do.. But are still ultra passionate fans of the sport, willing to spend plenty to watch it (when done properly), here and overseas, but dont see UK Speedway worthy of their regular patronage.. That is not the fault of any housing developer...
  21. Didnt the owners say that this was the plan? No "sitting tenants" to muddy the water.....
  22. mikebv

    Swindon Robins 2020

Agreed.. But what has amazed me has been the "whimper" that they are going out on... The fans mustn't give a monkeys given their lack of fight... Always thought Swindon was still one of the few places left where decent crowds could be generated, so must have had a good following... If so. Not many seem too bothered about their club going.. Strange...

Witches v Aces Play off Semi Final 1st leg 29/9/22

Offer a couple of hundred pounds a point and plenty of takers I am sure.. Can the Aces swap the riding order and put the 2nd in the averages at No1 and put any guest or RR in another riding number?
  24. mikebv

    Wolves v Tigers 26/9

Definitely since Scott started his TV career... Bomber was the only one left from the three guest amigo's.... Needed someone to step up and Josh has done that just fine.. Honourable mention to Tom Brennan too, early on in his "guest career" obviously, but he seems to have taken to it well.... If MPT stays injury free next season, he too will be back to add to the "guest list"...
