  1. The huge plus for the SGP was that every position in every race counted because every point counted..

Now it no longer works like that..

Maybe they should call the 20 heats 'qualifiers' to the Semi Finals and Grand Final?..

(As that is effectively what they are)

That would then make it a bit clearer to the 'layman' watching as the scores achieved during the meeting for the riders then have zero relevance other than gaining their final position in the meeting if outside the top 8.

Or their qualification for the final races if within the top 8 qualifiers..

Nigel and Kelvin could mention the heats as "Semi Final Qualifiers" at every opportunity to push home the understanding of what's actually going on.

I'd love Lindgren to win this now, not because I'm a fan, but just to highlight what an utter farce it is.

It will be like Crumpy and Pedersen slow racing so neither won a race..

Why do they piss about with something that doesn't need pissing about with..?

If they didn't want the rider who wins a GP doing it by scoring less than another rider who ultimately didn't win it, then just give bigger extra points in the final. .

What’s the official capacity of the NSS , four or five thousand ?

probably two thousand tickets sold already ?

Seem to remember it's between 3000 to 3500...

The capacity is just under 1800 in the Grandstand and (I think), now 1200, maybe a couple of hundred more, (?) on the back straight..

They reduced the size of the back straight stand a couple of year ago..

Not sure if they planned to build the stand on the third bend that they had for the SWC or use the car park that is there for spectators at ground level..

Why would you not bother for just one meeting? One meeting is better than none surely? I’d imagine riders would jump at the chance of competing in the British final!

A lot for them to consider for a one off meeting at the end of September on an 'autumn' track I would think, not least of all if their thousands of pounds of kit might be better off mothballed for the following year..

Especially as some will have had little track time to prepare and get race fit both physically and mentally, so may feel their chances of success are not what possibly they would be in a full normal season..

Wonder if the GP wild card transfers over from last year to next meaning Charles Wright will still take his place when/if Cardiff happens..?

Would be very unfair if he misses out but it would generate some encouragement to attend if they used this years final to hand out the wild card slot..

Of course Charles could win it again..!!

As has been said, a very good prize fund/points money, over and above the usual BSPL pay rates, would deliver the biggest interest I would think..

It will just be good to get some 'pro speedway' back in the UK, and the BSPL have definitely picked the right venue given the size of the stadium, and geographical location, with a good few 'local' tracks' worth of fans desperate to see some Speedway, so lets hope they get rewarded at the turnstiles and showcase the sport well...

  5. I would imagine lots of interest in this meeting, in particular from Ipswich fans and those from those teams around East Anglia..

Hopefully a "full house" (whatever that number is)..

It will be interesting to see the line up..

Will the 'top riders' all want to turn out for a 'one off' meeting or prefer to save things for next year?

Either way, I am sure a decent crowd will be in attendance on a Saturday night, and if they can get 3k in it will be circa 1000 more than attends the British Finals at the NSS when ran on a Monday so more money in the coffers..

No different to MJJ and Lindback at ZG this year all four of them have been dire this season

    Is it the reduced money?

Many of the riders when riding away seem to be going through the motions at times but doing ok at home..

Earn a few quid at home and not take too many risks away?
