oh well another SCB statement incoming!

"We run the sport week in, week out, with Mickey Mouse, make it up as we go along rules, and no one complains, therefore, as always, there is absolutely nothing to see here, move along please, have you no homes to go to please. And if anyone thinks we don't have a clue what we are doing, explain how we increased the amount of opportunities for guests this year, see? eh?, visionary that, visionary, put that in your pipe and smoke it, keyboard warrior's".....

"Oh! And 7 day ban, to start from the next date when Ipswich don't have a meeting for the next 7 days"...

Well I got up early to jump on to get a ticket although I think £211 for a adult, 76 year old and 2 kids under 13 to stand is outright scandalous , especially when Cardiff Row 3 in Old block over 1st/2nd bend and pits is only £100 for all of us.. makes no senses

Just looked and thousands of tickets left in all areas so most must be giving it a wide berth

It is a risky pricing structure I would suggest..

Four matches being sold, with, I presume, three of them on live TV is a big ask to fill that stadium for every meeting...

Especially with GB (senior team), only in the one meeting..

Maybe they have got it right though and there is great demand for their supply...

Except knocking Edinburgh out of the BSN leaves him with 2 less fixtures, hitting his wage packet?

He needs a very good night then...:D

    However...

If he wasn't guesting and someone else did, Edinburgh could still get knocked out, and he would have missed out on three meetings...

    Plus..

Of course, if Berwick did reach the final, he could still get another couple of meetings riding for them...

Or, he could ride for the other finalist if they needed him.......

Don't think he could ride for both teams in the final, one leg each though...:D

I think fixing races, as opposed to robbing disabled human beings at knife point has a slightly different severity !?

Hey...its all about opinions....thank heavens for Forums :D

I believe you either have a rehabilitation system, or you don't..

If Garrity's main way of earning money was as a plumber would he never be allowed to do it again.?

Having employed ex cons, part of their release agreement can be restorative justice whereby they meet up with their victims and agree to give them recompense over time for their actions, and it is built into their wages received when they start work..

(Obviously this is led by the victim and doesn't always happen, but maybe in his case it has?)..

To have anyone saying "I will never go again" though is crackers...

If you have a flood at your home and are ankle deep in water, and an ex con turns up who you know has commited a violent crime, would you turn him away ?:D

I am no bleeding heart liberal at all, but you either have a system that rehabilitate's and your slate is then clean when your time is served..

    Or you don't...

An alternate view of the change regarding guests. Now like most people, I'm not a fan of guests but agree they are a "necessary evil". One of my biggest bugbears about them is there's no incentive whatsoever to sign a replacement, when guests are allowed.

Now we have a team (Oxford) with an injured rider (Kerr) and a willing replacement (Riss) but they've decided to instead to replace Klindt because they'd rather use guests.

So is there a rule / should there be a rule where the BSPL / SCB say to Oxford, you can't drop Klindt just because you'd prefer to use guests? Would be different if Riss didn't fit for Kerr obviously.

I almost feel like "why should Oxford be allowed a guest, when they could easily change the team & not need one"?

    100%...

Guests don't have to be a "necessary evil" if some organisation and pro-activity was involved.

Why don't the BSP sound out all the riders and list those willing to ride over here and use that for "emergencies" or team changes..?

Some may only want a month some may want a whole season, it doesn't matter..

These "sub's on the bench" will replace guests, as and when required...

Minimum 28 day contract so no "one off, horses for courses" ringers getting brought in (as happens now with guests), and using the average system (which they so slavishly do even though it is inherently flawed), would mean no one can manipulate the system (I know. I know!:D)...

It would also mean competition for places and you could put a deadline for "no more changes" well before the play offs, meaning no "ringers" getting parachuted in (unless it is in the interest of Speedway obviously).

I personally still think that, given the lack of riders of a "certain level", six rider teams would benefit (currently), the UK...

eg there would be 7 riders in the current one to sixes that wouldn't have a place, but would be available to cover, (plus Scott obviously:D), if they chose to keep the RS and rode them at No6...

Much better for the sports credibility and would mean a team place in the UK wasn't a given regardless of performance, which can happen..

Surely the justice system is there to punish those who deserve it.  Once they've served this aren't they then given the chance to resume their place in society or should they continue to be punished for the rest of their lives? (And please don't think I'm condoning his past actions)

    Indeed...

Again, not condoning what he did, but a sport that has allowed competitors to fix races shouldn't throw too many stones..
