  1. The format really rewards the team that has a very good / consistent number two rider, which Team GB certainly had in Woffinden and Bewley.. There's no denial that Zmarzlik was head and shoulders above the opposition, but Magic, was a bit too inconsistent.

It's all about not being last in a 4-3-2-0 format especially in the latter stages, so it's a well deserved win in my opinion. (albeit a bit lucky in the final when Janowski came to grief).

  2. Congratulations to the Panthers, they were the better team over two legs (and worthy champions over the season to be honest)

Maybe it was a 'last hurrah' for one or two of them, but they came up with the goods when they needed to,

Gutted for the Aces and I think that there will be a lot of changes for next season. I don't think that the Worralls and Wright are going to improve so they need someone younger with the ambition and talent to progress.

No doubt we'll go again,  but another 'so near yet so far season' leaves it a sad end to the campaign

  3. Great meeting and a good atmosphere. Hayley Bromley and Chase the Ace kept things ticking over while we were waiting for Eurosport to allow the races to start.

I thought that the Aces had cracked it when they went ten in front with rides from Bewley and Steve Worrall to come, but fair play to Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris who rolled back the years - can't deny that they were brilliant.

Not over yet, but it's advantage Panthers for me.

  4. Well; done to Wolves, fully deserved the two wins.

As a Belle Vue fan I was happier with the away performance,  All day the Wolves riders looked capable of winning races whereas only the Aces top three were really competitive (but at least Brennan tried hard). The 'engine room' of the Aces failed again I'm afraid and some of the management decisions were frankly strange. Worrall's lunge at the  end was borne out of frustration after an appalling day for him, I hope he learns from it.

He was fine yesterday! He said he was struggling for power at BV when they interviewed him at Wolves. Wolves is a hard track to ride, maybe he is feeling the pressure too much and isn't he captain  as well? More pressure when you're struggling.

Maybe you're right and the captaincy is weighing a little heavy on his shoulders for BV. He's certainly struggling at the moment for the Aces, if not elsewhere.

I have bouts of mental health problems, and its only over the past few months that I've "Come Out" to coin a phrase.

Some people told me to buck myself up, which is the worst thing to be told.  Some people don't understand the situation, and I get that, because they won't if they've gone through it.
Some people are very understanding.  I'm currently having a great many demons, but have confidence, and obviously hope, that the people helping me with it, will get me out of the other end of the tunnel.

I like Craig Cook.  I feel for Craig Cook, and I pray he gets the help he needs from this invisible but deadly problem.

Please people, whether you like the man or not, show him the respect and love that both he and his family needs at this present time.  With the right guidance and love, he'll come out the other end with a smile on his face.

    Thank You.

    Spot on.

We never know what's going on in someone's head and we shouldn't interfere with his feelings. If he needs help and support I'm sure that he has people around him to give it. The rest of us should just accept it and wish him well. This is too dangerous a sport to do without full commitment and concentration.

Get well soon Cookie - and take your time.

  7. Bruce Penhall, Dag Lovaas, Ron Preston and Phil Collins all could have been around for much longer if they wanted to.

At the other end of the scale, Jim Brett of Belle Vue looked like he was about to make the breakthrough but quit as he had a good job lined up (in IT I believe, which in the late 70s would have been pretty well paid I imagine)

Have on film Alan Wilkinson's trip to the box at King's Lynn...wouldn't have wanted to get on the wrong side of "Wilkie".

I was there that day. It was so funny to see the reaction of Eric Boocock and Chris Morton who were talking on the centre green when they saw what Wilkie was going to do!

You could almost see the blood drain from their faces before they ran after him across the grass (didn't catch him though )

  9. Whatever the future holds, I hope that Cook makes the right decision for himself and not because he feels it's the 'right thing to do'.

If (and it's a big if) he's lost his confidence, whether temporarily or permanently, he needs to be given the support to recover his self esteem. There's so much talk of mental issues these days and being nervous about being on a potentially lethal speedway bike is fully understandable from my point of view - wouldn't go near one personally, so I respect those who have the nerve to do so! If that nerve goes, so be it............ and thanks.
