  1. If it's the system they used in Germany this year then a rider who scores 15 in the 20 heats and flunks the semi still qualifies for the final if he is one of the four top scorers. The semi-final points are just added to the points scored in the meeting to decide the top four riders who qualify for the final, not the first 2 riders from each semi. That also goes for the final,so it isn't necessary to win the final to win the meeting, but it ensures that the top scorer over 7 heats is the winner
  2. Results hereDiedebergen Poor Brokstedt @GSF Matze must have been celebrating to much last night
  3. They did Norbold,it's one of the formats tried here for the U21 championship this year. The race format changed almost every meeting <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh yes, iris, you're right the format has been used before. For every World Final from 1936 - 1994 and every other individual meeting in that time plus most since. Silly me for forgetting that! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The 20 heat format yeah, but this has semi's and a final,Norbold.Thats what i'm talking about.Guess your still thinking about that "best speedway book ever" topic eh

    German Under 21 Championship

@ GSF As i said Matze now is German champ,U21 Champ,1.Bundesliga champ and the last peice of the jigsaw will be the 2.Bundesliga tomorrow Thought he wouldn't do it acctually as he didn't look that good through the meeting until the semi. His gating was not so good and there was little passing, but in the semi he came round Hefe and in the final he came past Hefe and the fast gating Hertrich who was also passed by Hefe.Must say that is the first meeting where Hertrich has looked good that i have seen.Max Dilger was also impressive and Michael Diener was a surprise.Danny Knakowski looked like he came back too early,or is it just me! Almost every time i have seen him this season he has had a fall and then been out for a while The 15 year olds did quite well(Dilger included)Sönke won 3 heats and had a third after being injured in a bit of first bend bunching although he won Heat 17 he couldn't continue. Wölbert made the semi's but was in the wrong one, against Matze and Hefe Got it on video if you want it Pity Smoli was out and Knaki wasn't fit as if he showed the form from the last 2 Ostsee Pokal's he could have possibly won
  6. Fantastic result from Smoli @GSF Maybe i will change my mind about the U21 next week and go for Smoli...nah...still think Matze will edge it but it will be close.Watch out for Sönke as well, his gating has been pretty good especially for a 15 year old.Particularly needed at the gaters paradise that is Teterow . What happened to Wallner after yesterday

    He was a tough un

As i said,i think he is the best ever.Don't mean i liked him(admired maybe)but certainly never booed him, nor anyone else for that matter.Well maybe Bert Harkins :blink:Oh,forgot to mention i always booed you Never asked for an autograph though

    ANDERS MICHANEK - BIG exclusive!

Love the quote about Olsen "He was a good rider but he's a dane-and that says everything!" Classic

    He was a tough un

my dad and me could certainly tell some things about some of the individual meetings some of the things he did and said before and after some meetings were 'interesting' ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Come on then Steve, spill the beans or do we have to wait for the book to come out One of the things he usually said after the meetings i was at was"#### off, your not getting an autograph"
  13. iris123

    He was a tough un

Can't agree that riders give it 100% all the time ,Norbold.I think Ivan like most tried things out in meetings and went through the motions in others. I think Mauger was the best of all time even though i didn't see a lot of the greats, though i did see Ove

Norbold, clivehitch or The Artist formerly known as Dick A question remains unanswered, namely who were The Rangers main rivals?I know at your age the old grey matter isn't what it used to be but surely one of you can remember Or did you think you had already answered

    New Cross Speedway

clivehitch Had a couple of friends(Man Utd fans) who went to the Old Den,wandering lost around the back streets and were approached by someone saying "you ain't Millwall fans are ya".They both promptly legged it,in different directions i may add and only one went in to see the match Remember having to produce my season ticket once when i was with a couple of friends who were looking for someone selling ticket for a Chelsea or West Ham game.We walked up to the Cold Blow end,no luck, turned around and was walking back when we were challenged.Great place, great atmosphere. Can't say the same about the new place

  23. Speedway is almost like boxing, making up World titles and intercontinental titles just to have a more important sounding meeting. But i agree that speedway should consolidate in the countries where there is already a history of speedway participation.Interesting that nothing much is mentioned about Russia, seeing as (Chelsea)there is obviously money there and speedway is established and in the past produced some good riders,Plechanov,Gordeev brothers, etc.
