Hold it at a weekend when the Poles are not racing and you might get an improved attendance. As it is only track locals locals a few waifs and strays from other tracks will make it on a weekday night. Devalue the product by attendance and race day and you have the best they can come up with. Says all about those in charge.
Does it need to be renamed ?
Many national championships have foreign riders in them, including the Australian championship, i seem to recall

When Wimbledon stadium was in its last months Spedeworth, the stock car promotion, had a number of speedway riders have a last ride around the track during a stock car meeting. Gordon Kennett showed everyone just how to slide around the bends on a tarmac track and looked as if he was on a slick track.
The video is on YouTube https://youtu.be/72e5JMM3abI
Yes, well done to Gordon. Been out a long time and was the only one really giving it a go. Sure my cousin was also out on track with him. But nobody is going to pay good money to watch 4 riders going round like that, surely ?

The concrete meeting brings another problem to mind
A rider on a dangerous track is the last one left in a heat. Poodles around and gets excluded for not racing
In a proper speedway meeting, individual title. Two riders are out in a race off for the title. by chance before the race off i went to the toilets and on my way back passed both and overheard them agreeing to put on a show....now they went out and raced side by side and were popping wheelies and the ref ignored it all
I felt more robbed by this than a single rider on a dangerous track taking it easy and just getting the 4 laps done
-
And as i have mentioned before i watched a meeting indoors on concrete (with some sort of sand top surface) and it was absolute carnage. In the end they didn't have enough riders to fill the heats, and one rider, the last man standing in one heat got excluded for not racing !!
It was a bit of a surprise, as both Matten Kroger and Stephan Katt both beforehand said they trained during the winter in an old warehouse. But maybe training and racing are different. Or the sand on top of concrete was the main problem. But outside, any dust or dirt and then rain on tarmac or concrete would also be a major problem

However, there's far more money in cricket and despite advances in drainage and super soppers, rain still stops play.
I still think the best solution would be to built some sort of cantilevered canopy over the track. Could be a partial roof like you get over Dutch speed skating circuits, or some lightweight tent sort of structure.
Not really a cricket fan at all, but was there an attempt to use astro turf , just like a few football clubs used it for a while. Maybe still do

In one of Briggo's book back in the 70s he said speedway needs an all weather surface. I just guess there is nothing suitable. Tarmac or concrete etc would either be dangerous or change the sport into a road racing or possibly the Japanese modification of dirt track speedway

Trouble with these ideas and comparisons
Wasn't it someone with a lot of money that forced changes in cricket ? And also of course recently golf
And wasn't it money and pretty much a dictator that helped darts and snooker ?
I don't think there is either in speedway. Plus this sort of plan would then mean a new sport basically and desperate the UK from the rest of the world
Women's football is an interesting one though. The same game, just with different competitors, and for the life of me I don't know why, but it has become far more popular than speedway

Obviously (at least i hope) something probably not translating properly here. But it might be a way to get the crowds back again ? Well, not the wokes of course.

Hasn't it in the past been a little disadvantage for the hosts not having a meeting on the track, racing wise ? As well as the commercial aspect

Doesn't just matter about a couple of tracks. As i said previously you need a couple of countries. Poland is never going to support this sort of thing without their own country racing. You get a crowd like a junior meeting. And basically add the fact that there would be a fair few journalists from around the world boosting the pathetic crowd there was
If the first couple of meetings were held in Germany or Latvia you'd be sure of a few 1000 at least. Fans would be glad to see some of the top riders

Poor old Time. Went from latte to lardy in one lap

Bit disrespectful of the Finnish manager to pronounce his riders names properly, rather than the mangled Tatum pronounciations

I did laugh seeing a comment from Tai about appreciating all the fans and their flags yesterday

Imagine Finland v Italy v Australia v Sweden on a Tuesday night at Scunthorpe. There would be about 45 people there
There is never anyone at the early rounds in any country because you always know who's going through.
They would have got a much better crowd by hosting last nights meeting over the border in Germany for instance. Hardly a big deal for logistics etc. Tonights meeting in Denmark , then move to Poland for the last two meetings. 4 meetings in a week in one country is never going to work for crowds or the track

Put Ellis on an ice bike and he should be good for a few points

Basically the only interest in this, is the points and who will finish 3rd. Germany dropped a boll there letting Czech back in

3 minutes ago, Ghostwalker said:I can agree to some extent. However it just shows that you can't all 4 events at the same track. Track has to be ultra slick to be able to handle 4 races in 5 days.
Not enough supporter base to cover 4 races at the same venue.I think it has to be split up or have some kind of dual hosts. Like both Semi finals in one country (i.ex. in Britain at Manchester and Kings Lynn)
then have the race off and final in another country, like Sweden with race off at one track and the final at another (i.e. in Sweden like Eskilstuna/Sannahed and Västervik/Gislaved).
Semi finals races are close enough for allowing fans to from abroad to travel to see both, but still not too close to rely on the same supporter base to 100 percent.Absolutely. Format is the problem. FIM are the problem
Surely the tv companies and sponsors can't be happy with this ?
Fans obviously aren't happy. Someone travels half way round the world and prefers to sit in the hotel

Rubbish racing and terrible crowd. Shows exactly what health speedway is in

Seems the German motorsport association have had a study done and found up to 80% of CO2 is caused by the fans. So speedway having very few fans are emmiting far less CO2 than other motorsports. Which is nice

They could, but seeing as they are after causing chaos and even more, publicity, it doesn't seem likely that it is high on the agenda

Medications prescribed by a doctor or bought directly over the counter may contain prohibited substances. It is an athlete’s responsibility to check their medication before using it even if they have used it before.
It is also important to note that medications bought abroad may contain different substances to those bought in the UK.
Key Points to Remember
-
A user can refer to the FAQ section within Global DRO to make sure they understand the search results correctly.
-
Annual changes to the Prohibited List come into effect each year on 1 January. Therefore, it is important for an athlete to re-check the status of any medications they continue to use at the start of each year on Global DRO.
-
If the medication is prohibited, athletes should use our TUE Wizard to find out if they need a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) and how to apply. Unsure what a TUE is? Visit the Medicine and TUE Hub.
-
If an athlete is unable to find the medication they are looking for, they should contact UKAD with the medication name and list of active ingredients via email to substance@ukad.org.uk.

Well, if Bill Gates and George Soros are pumping money into speedway, all i say is 'welcome to the Woke Championships'
If there really is a Big agenda, then i doubt speedway will be invited to dine at the table
