Cardiff Attendance
MartynP replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Just about to finish work then heading off to airport for flight down to Southampton, across to Dorset ready for minibus trip tomorrow morning before doing the reverse Sunday. I know there's a more direct route of getting from Yorkshire to Cardiff but don't like taking the easy option!!! -

World U21 Qualifier (sheffield).

Am thinking of coming to this one though am wary of the apparent poor track conditions on Thursday and the amount of rain we had yesterday. It has been dry all day today near Bradford but can anyone tell me if it has been dry in Sheffield? If I do go am mainly going to see Lewis Bridger for the first time although I think the meeting will be between Miedienski (sp!) and Legault who will have major home track advantage! Cheers -
Sean’s Cracker.... Sunday 19th March
MartynP replied to Phil's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Made my first ever visit to Owlerton yesterday since moving up to Yorkshire from Dorset and, despite the cold, I will be returning if the racing yesterday is anything to go by! Did start to wonder in the first four heats if I would enjoy the meeting as it was all very processional but after then there was passing in almost every heat with some real fast outside lines being taken. Stood on backstraight (why is this not open all the time??) and had excellent view of some really close second bends. Thought on more than one occasion that a rider was going to go through the fence and join me on the terraces! With racing like this last night Sheffield must go Elite! If they did I would make the 80 mile round trip every week but am reluctant to do so for the PL as I feel that there is too much home advantage resulting in one-sided home wins. -

Being a first timer (but could become a regular if racing is good!) to Sheffield can someone let me know the best place to stand? This is especially true for Sunday if you cannot walk round the whole stadium. I do like to view from the back straight but not sure if I want to restrict myself to just that area. Also has it any cover if the rain comes? All help gratefully received! MartynP -

Haha...now I might be wrong - and I'm sure that one of the other Poole fans might be able to either back me up or put me straight, but that guy is Viktor and he's no more a manager than I am unless he's got a promotion! Last I knew he's a translator, often used by Poole for their Polish riders. And yep, he's quite a character!!! Yes, Rabbit as far as i'm aware the excitable chap who has been interviewed is the man Poole have used as a translator for their polish riders. He can be seen at each meeting at Poole so I doubt he is Poland's team manager!! I have wondered this week if he does actually translate or if he makes up something himself! I think it was after KK's fall at Eastbourne when Krystof said about 3 words and then he went on to say a couple of sentances! Cheers MartynP -
Who will win the World Cup??
MartynP replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Glad I backed the Brits and Swedes earlier in the week at 5-1 and 4-1 respectively!! -
Country just sneaks in ahead of club for me(although not yet ready to accept Sullivan as one of our own yet!!). Think there would some awesome noise if a Brit got into the final at Cardiff!!

Not a bad achievement considering he was born in 1983!!!!

To young for the 70's ones but two of Exeter's Czechs in the 90's were Vaclav Verner and Petr Vandirek. I think! Can also picture the other one but can't think of his name!! Someone put me out of my misery!!
