    Redcar 2020

Yep , Jittendra is one of the good guys, not arrogant or publicity seeking, just gets on with the job and presents a good image. Speedway, and Redcar, would be worse without him.

    Redcar 2020

Not the time for a breakaway as the change over would be quite damaging to the business's and the sport. Far better to change the management of the BSPL in an amicable manner. No point in making the sport unmanagible during a season cos that really would see the end of UK speedway.
  3. There was very little dust, when you look at some recent photos of Redcar and Scunny. There will always be plumes of shale behind riders, but we could see all the riders all of the time.
  4. After the fine result on Friday at Edinburgh, I wasn't kidded that we would win even with home advantage. Edinburgh are a decent side, not top the league contenders. but always capable of beating us, usually after we have been pretty close in the previous Fridays away meeting. Nice to see a decent crowd, about 650 spaced out in blocks of 6 around the terracing, including one Bus full of Monarchs and a number of visitors, track unknown. At the end of the day, the Worrall/s made the big difference and after then it should have beeb very even. Unfortunately Tero was terrible, Max no speed or points, and Joe out of it. Given those facts we did OK with good contributions from Adam, James and Matty. Although Connor only scored 4 from 5, he could be very useful with a nice style, a bit of aggression and decent gating. Watch him in future. For the Monarchs, aside from the twins, the 2 Aussies Josh and Kye were entertaining with a rough ride from Kye around and into the fence, and Josh with the best pass on the night in the rerun. Willie got 5, mainly from his unlikely win in heat 14, whilst I was disappointed with Joe's contribution. An expected result, but as expected the trump cards are going to be the excellent Roynon and the hard riding James. With better contributions from our number 1 Ben, and a return to form from Max, and a little more from Matty and Connor, I think we will get some decent results again even the better teams. It's not the doom and gloom that many thought it would be , but away will be a different story. Very pleased with the track all night. It was smooth, no dust and given enough water and mild roughing up with the spiked grader. No Rough Park here, and all race lines were used. Convincing win for the Gems in the second match, with a speedier Max and a brilliant start from our Archie. Some really good passes, with Archie off 15metres weaving his way through the others to take a brilliant win, and getting Luke Muff up to make it a home 5-1. Calamity and entertaining rider of the night was the expected crashes from George Rothery , who was extremely lucky to be able to ride given the damage he caused in his first ride. Taking down the exposed fence on the back straight and hitting a lampost is not a great way to start his meeting. Certainly the Gems will be a match for anyone home and away, and certainly will be with the returning Danny on Sunday if he gets the green light to ride from the Doctor. A very successful first meeting, which was a bit long and especially when it cut in very cold even under the stand canopy.
  5. Of course excluding Jason Lyons from that comment.

    Plymouth Gladiators 2021

Both Atkins and Stoneman are 2* Rising Stars NB. Ghosty, Josh Bates is a 4 * Rising Star
  7. So I hope after seeing the photos and from what Ian said, you will accept that living 3 miles away and making judgements on meetings being on is not a good opportunity to comment. Being at the track, and seeing it is usually the best position to be in. I say that as a former Newcastle Promoter, and conflicting stories about whether it is on or isn't on is unsettling for many fans and their arrangements Luckily the meeting was called off fairly early, but the Newcastle riders had nearly made it and had to turn around after going over the Dartford Bridge. From their photos to me , it would seem like it was raining quite heavy there.

    Eastbourne 2021

Like Newcastle under Thomas, but that has all been stopped for some years.
  9. And very good when it happens. When we had double headers with Somerset on the Friday and then Rye House on the Saturday, if Len thought there was doubts about his meeting he used to ring us to tell us that on the Friday night. He then used to follow that up with a phonecall after breakfast on the Saturday morning, and if he called it off, it allowed the Newcastle team, and our travelling supporters, to head on home saving us considerable time and petrol money. I could always trust Len with his calloffs.
  10. George has been around for a number of years having started at Northside training track. He has had a history crash, bang, wallop, but still kept coming up for more. Lately he has started to put it together and now looks an exciting rider when he stays on. Love the hassles and his enthusiasm.

    Poole Pirates 2021

Same with Newcastle, but it would appear that the Council has now allowed a few more people in for those 2 meetings,

    Scunthorpe Scorpions 2020

Unless it's a sponsor, the DMU agreement states the flights are paid by the hiring club especially for U19/21and country championships rounds and finals.

    Redcar 2020

I think, as a first effort, this was really good effort. I agree with most points raised by pvm. My link at my computer could not link up ,so I used the views posts on the right hand side to see what was happening,. I gave up well after the 1 hour delay, joining at heat 13, and resorted to the link of my phone, but the sound was very faint, but maybe that a a blessing. When these connection problems are fixed it will be a really good presentation which only needs slight tweaks here and there. I look forward to the rest of the series. Many Thanks.

    Pat Flanagan

Yes. Gil was about a 5 at our level but had flitted between Wimbledon and the Southern League. Pat was probably a 2 and held his own riding in Southern teams/leagues.

    Pat Flanagan

Pat came up to Newcastle with my favourite Gil Goldfinch in 1961 to strengthen us and gave us a much better team. I think that used to come up on the train, and we had to take vehicles to get them and their gear to the track. They stayed overnight and did the return the following morning. RIP Pat

    Scunthorpe Scorpions 2020

It's a certainty that we all have to buy our tickets online. It's the only way you can seriously control the number who attend the meetings.

    Kent Kings 2020?

It is as it was said, a 'trial' of some large events to assess the advantages and dissadvantages of the use of Vaccine passports. Not going to be used yet at Speedway, till after the assessment of their use if favourable.

    Driving After Dark

I remember once Bryn came up to Newcastle, and Nigel Wagstaff had drove him up. Possibly when Waggy had Oxford and Nicki P. Probably about 2003.

    Greatest ever improvement?

Jordan Palin started with the BV Cubs in 2019 at number 7, and was no 1 after the first green sheets were published. I think his first meeting was a 15 point Max.

    Whats actually going on?

The SKY money we received was quickly consumed by greedy and demanding top riders headed by the Yanks. It was never available to expand the facilities and the sport.
