Yes but we have always been led to believe that our time is limited at Brough and in the long term we need to look for another site. More rumours about rumours at the moment.

Can’t make it on Tuesday but would be in favour of a Trust system like Edinburghs as long as it was run by the right people and was sustainable in the longer term, Count me in.

    Poole v Newcastle 25th August 2021

Given some of your replies on here, it's odds on that you are the single one.
  7. Well we have been about 5 points behind every other teams all season, so you can hardly accuse us of illegal strengthening can you. Especially when the 3 star guest has a mare of a booking for us last night.
  8. Can't imagine it as both of those riders were in the same U19 Final meeting that Archie was in.
  9. Try telling that to Max Clegg who rode outside Wright in every ride and did it with speed and NOT going backwards. It was one of the best close meetings we have had, given the away side that was built to be strong, and we ride without a heat leader and have done all season. It was a classic case of David and Goliath, but Goliath got twitchy as the pressure was more on them, given their expectations and expense. Oniy one rider, a guest, from the Diamonds was guilty of a tapes infringement, whilst just about every race a Tiger was guilty including other heats like Heat 1 when a Tiger jumped, but was not punished. Make meetings like that every week, and we could be packed every week and I readily acknowledge the tremendous effort Tigers put into their racing.
  10. Not as big as expected I think. A lot of Tigers fans including a bus load.
  11. He is going to be a top rider some day. He's like a clean Nicki.
  12. That was Archie who I referred to before the meeting. 16 and gating getting better.
  13. He has a burn on his leg, caused by being trapped on the exhaust, and part of his Kevlar's is trapped in the wound. Spoke to him afterwards and he'll be riding next week OK.

The three callouts by Barry in the box for the owner of a motorcycle, turned out not to be an attendee at the Speedway. It was apparently stolen, driven to the field behind the backstraight and torched by some local lowlife. For first timers at the speedway, this is not the usual interval attraction during a meeting.
  15. Nice to meet you again, and also to meet and talk to Shaleshifter. Poole deserved their big win as we were very poor and it was probably our worst showing this season. Different match in the second with the Diamonds believing they could win and surprised with the defeats of Crump and especially Bjarne. Bjarne is still a class act though as a person and a rider, and meeting him afterwards in the pits he is still the old and nice Bjarne that we loved when he rode for us. Immaculate bikes as usual, he found tremendous power coming out of the corners on the David Walsh inside line, but he did comment that he had forgot how long our straights are. I wish him a very good and safe year, ready for what retirement brings to him and his family. I am looking forward to trying to have a Southern tour of our own when we are at Kent on the Tuesday followed by Poole on the Wednesday. I will let Steve S and Shaleshifter know if and when we do.
  16. According to Met Office now, the expected rain will be arriving now and stay with us for another hour. It will then clear up with just a sprinkle at about 2.00pm, with no more rain forecast after that. A nice 18 degrees should be warm enough to dry it up somewhat. So according to the Weather Channel and Weather Live sites they also agree with the Met Office forecasts. So it looks very positive that we will have a meeting with a damp track, just like it should be.

  18. Both lovely places. Actually I forgot to mention the revised building and award winning restaurant/tearooms/fish and chip shop at the Spanish City site. There used to be a funfair park behind it, and Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits named their song 'Tunnel of Love' after the attraction that was there.
  19. And don't forget my beautiful seaside Town, Whitley Bay. Walk the links, play mini golf, see St Mary's lighthouse, amusements arcades, award winning ice cream parlours , Italian restaurants and many family pubs like the Briardene just off the links. Pop a couple of miles down the coast and visit Tynemouth and the Priory ruin, before seeing the mouth of the Tyne and all the modern fishing vessels at the North Shields Quay. Plenty of restaurants on the Quay with Fish and Chips and Italian being there in plenty.
  20. Which has always been the reason why others didn't follow suit and get covers. It's a good idea theoretically, but full of practical issues such as manpower, storage and when to put them down.

Yes, I note the rain is forecast to stop about 4.00pm which could be earlier. Water will already be in the base of the track, so if we can cope with the 'new' rain the track will only need preparing and grading, but not need watering apart from the extra that goes into the starting area. With the new time of 4.00 pm start, it is feasible that if the rain goes on till 4.00pm, the start could be easily delayed, which means we have a better chance of the meeting going ahead, especially with the importance of this meeting and the appeal of our opponents. it is always a possibility, so don't give up if it's still raining in the afternoon. Here's hoping.

Was an hour the interval at the Edinburgh meeting.
