Well maybe if the Speedway Season is cancelled and the construction industry is starting again it would be an ideal time to build the new stadium!....

Totally agree Grachan. There is already a consultation in progress about the noise created by the speedway affecting the houses that have been built next door to track. The writing is on the wall for the old stadium we need the new one built for speedway to survive I am afraid.

Matt you make a very sound educated argument and I fully respect you for that. i think we agree SBC has been shafted by Gaming International but we are just the average man in the street and everybody said from the beginning that this would happen. You cannot blame the developer because ultimately there plan has worked, they had no intention of building the stadium. The council have let themselves be pushed around and bullied and for that reason they are 100% culpable. So the snow dome was never going to happen. If I go to buy a house I need to have finances in place before they will even consider me. This company may be very reputable but what it boils down to is the fact that it was pie in the sky. You cannot go into a project and say we are ready to start but by the way we are 80 million pounds short!

Matt. You don’t happen to work for SBC by any chance?

Dress it up with jargon as much as you like. We were told at the start the new old stadium would not be demolished before the new one was operational. With the developers previous record everybody with half a brain could see this situation happening. This was plainly a lie and SBC are 100% are at fault. As far as the snow dome how many thousands of pounds was spent on a feasibility study , planning etc by the council? Surely one of the first questions to be asked by the council is whether the developer has the money to go ahead with the project. If not then , as has been proved, it’s a complete waste of time. That’s basic economics.

So Matt K are you saying if the speedway stadium does not go ahead SBC are not culpable at all and it will all be down to the developer?

So another much vaunted project in the hands of Swindon Borough Council is not going to happen. The much anticipated indoor ski slope. Along with the new football stadium, which has been talked about for the last 30 years and the renovation of the few historic buildings which Swindon has, it ain’t happening. What price the Speedway Stadium? You can release as many computer generated pictures you like.

Having just seen the photograph with Clark, for a man with a “ready smile” Rosco looks totally embarrassed. He’s probably thinking “ this one will come back to haunt me”.

Scary stuff indeed. When the project was first discussed we were promised the old stadium would not be knocked down until the new one was built. Whats the chance of the old one closing and then there becoming lots of “unforeseen problems and delays“. This project is doomed, surely the council is not falling for this rubbish?

This was always going to end up this way. The council/developers treat “normal” people like idiots. You buy a house near a speedway track and don’t expect any noise? Why even take there views into consideration? Why have they become a priority? Just an excuse to stop the development.

So they could knock the stands down but build the new track? Nobody seems to know the timescale or timetable? Sounds like a total fudge to me. Time to be worried if you ask me.
