  1. Thoughts on this one anybody????, the Islanders will be without Aaron Baseby, but Mark steps back in this week, hoping for a good close meeting like last week, if the rain holds off, which at the moment is it.

    Isle Of Wight V Buxton

Seems to be the case. Really pleased to see Adam get a couple more meetings in for us next week, be interesting to see how he goes against a very good Dudley outfit.

    Isle Of Wight V Buxton

Ellis does appear to be quite the find at the moment, fully deserved all points he got on Tuesday, rode very well, there isn't many riders that will go round the inside at smallbrook, but he was more than willing to try the line and it worked on a couple of occasions. Would be nice to have him back for a couple more meetings, given the mechanical issues we seem to be continuing to suffer from, if that's not possible, then thanks for your efforts Adam and all the best for what appears to be a very bright future.

I don't think anybody has been dropped, I think Mark Baseby is unavailable this evening.

Danny returns, and Adam Ellis is given another chance, have to admit thought Adam was good value last week so please to see him get another meeting.

    Iow V Dudley

Adam Ellis, will ride at reserve for the IoW this evening, don't know much about, apart from I think he's been riding in the lakeside development side.
  9. Still on at present as far as I know, if I hear different I'll post to that effect. Hoping for a good home win tonight, but we are starting to read to many "need a good performance tonight to make up for a dire away meeting" press releases, good home form counts for very little, when your not picking up points away, which with Buxton aside the Islanders haven't.

Isle Of Wight V Rye House

I would have to agree with your post cityrebel, alot of people probably did walk away when we went NL, but I wonder have they even given it a chance, ok maybe smallbrook isn't ideal for this level of racing in terms of track size, but surely some speedway is better than none at all, I guess maybe for some it isn't value for money anymore and that is understandable, but it is a real shame to see, because on occasion you get some very entertaining racing in the NL.

Isle Of Wight V Rye House

There does'nt seem to be alot of interest on here does there!!, the only interest seems to come from if Nick is returning or not, which to a degree is understandable as he has been very good for the Islanders, but the fact is he isn't in the 1-7 right now and no one really knows when he will be fit to return. Personally I think we should be talking more about how the current 1-7 are doing. Tuesday wasn't a bad meeting with some good races, Considering Rye were effectively a three man team they put up a good fight right untill the last heat, for the Iow, Danny Warwick we excellent once again and is filling the captains roll very well this year, shame about the hefty fine he received for not clearing the track in heat 15, and also Danny Stoneman deserves a mention, rode well all evening and never gave in, he was always pushing looking to make a pass where possible. Overall not Vintage from the IOW, but job done and three more points

    More Changes On The Island

I like this signing, one because I think Aaron will do a good job for the Islanders and two, as Islander15 said the management seem more willing to make changes this year rather than continue to run with R/R, admittedly it's a shame that the change has been made because of an injury and I hope Marc makes a good recovery and is back on track soon.
  13. Jef, in answer to one of your questions, Marc was in heat 15, because as already said above he had lost some rides to bike problems, but also because he had asked for some laps after the meeting, but as you can understand the conditions on the track weren't improving, it was thought best to offer him 15 to try the bike and get the meeting closed, under normal meeting regs he would not have been eligible. Pleased that you enjoyed you first visit in awhile, there's alot of good people, putting in alot of time and effort to turn things around and bring some success back to the Island.

Isle Of Wight V Stoke 17/04

After speaking to the promotion this morning, they have asked me to confirm that due to overnight rain and a poor weather forecast for the rest of today, tonights meeting is postponed, a new date will be announced in due course.

Before the season has even got under way, another change in the Islanders line up, as they move to replace Rik Mullins with Danny Stoneman, see the bspa site for details.
