New Generation Who Will Push On.?

I can certainly agree with the thoughts about Woffy, Sayfutdinov and Ward But... If Ward rides like he did in the final of the GP tonight he ain't going to be riding for very much longer. I can well see why Woffy shut off - Darcy was out of control at times but that is typical of so many younger riders. Open the taps and hang on for grim death. He can ride how he likes, but if he takes anyone else with him when he has his next big one it will be who'd have thought it. If I read the reports correctly it was the big drive around the outside which wiped out his mate at Cov a few weeks ago. I agree he is a skill-full rider at times but he does sometimes ride like he has no brains - let alone the fitness that he obviously does not think applies to him in his interview.

    Save Weymouth Speedway Campaign

Only one Dodgy Promoter! If he had not been so bloody minded and greedy we would have seen brilliant set up with so many people who wanted to help or be involved. Instead he ostracised so many, no one else was allowed an opinion. Hopefully there will one day be another Brian White with the vision, tenacity, and will power (and money) to get things up and running again, but I won't hold my breath. Thanks for your efforts Harold I am sorry your dreams did not come to fruition. Old JAP Lover

    Save Weymouth Speedway Campaign

Not able to be with you all on Saturday. Pleased that the meeting was a success, (177 people in the middle of Winter - what a nucleus to have on your side) Best of luck to Harold & Co - I want to be able to come and cheer on the lads (whoever they are) when we come "back home" to Dorset Regards to all the old crowd - especially the "old" consortium Old JAP Lover

"I only hope Phil will post to say all are welcome". There are going to be several pink pigs flying over "The Wessex" tomorrow me thinks Even if he took a full page ad in the National Press apologising for his "banning" petty crap and poor promotion I doubt very much whether he will see too many additional paying punters through the gates. People have long memories. I sincerely hope that my beloved Weymouth is taken over and rises like a phoenix - the crowds of early days Wizards/Wildcats would be great to see once again Sincere thanks to all those who lost money and/or were banned and those who tried to keep things going over the last few years - you did your thankless best Thanks. There have been any number of people both Financially and in so many practical ways try to work with Mr B but the minute it suits him, he bans them. To hear him speak everyone is a "Winker" except him, he is the only perfect person in speedway. Try working with him, it is next to impossible. Old Timer

From what I hear, Weymouth Speedway Fans would be pleased if anybody took it over, even Mickey Mouse would be an improvement
  11. As someone who does not see regular live speedway these days apart from Sky Coverage, I must say that I enjoyed the meeting on Monday. Yes the track was grippy in parts, but nowhere was it "bald as a badgers" which led to some interesting heats. I have over the years got a little tired of the full throttle hang on to the bike type of rider who has been coming through the ranks on the poorly (in my opinion) prepared tracks and it was interesting on monday to see that by and large the riders who got into trouble were not the PL lads, they rode within there capabilities, but the more "experienced" globe trotters who are used to the slick modern day surfaces. Bomber always rides on the edge and is prepared to use the whole track whatever the conditions in an effort to win, be it around the boards or front wheel over the line, and I am pleased to say that his years of experience coming through the ranks from his early days are now beginning to show in the GP's especially on the deeper grippier tracks, but even he was caught out somewhat on Monday in his quest for yet another good entry on the CV, and managed to beat Scott fair and square twice in the process. Whilst the Nicki's and Jasons are perhaps struggling somewhat. Lewis Bridger I was pleased to say I watched with interest when he started at Weymouth but seems to have lost his way a little and needs to go back to basics, calm down and take some sensible advice from someone who has been there and done it before him. Ben Barker I remember as a mouthy little know-all when riding in the NL, I am pleased to say he appears in his interviews to have matured a little since those days (I have never sat near to him at Cardiff thankfully). He now looks to have good equipment and I am sure his day will come when things will fall into place, but again he does fall into the full throttle, hang on type of rider who I fear is going to be involved in a "big one" before too long. Looking back to the 60's - 80's I remember the days when everyone who was a rider got the chance to go through the qualifiers to eventually perhaps reach the world final, a much fairer way for all than the 18 - 20 who are seeded and picked these days. Can you imagine a PL Rider becoming the World Champion these days - no, they do not get the chance. But Jack Young managed it years ago against all the odds as a second division rider. And please come back the days when we have the likes of Boocock, Jessop, and Co who can ride any surface and track to challenge for our National title let alone the World Championship. Old Timer
