Star Lady replied to pirate paul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Maybe if all the people who keep bringing up the views of people who don't think Scott Nicholls is the best thing since sliced bread stopped posting, this thread would die a natural death and everyone would be happy -

Could it be that Terry (Mr Sky) Russell refused to allow it because it would have upset the Sky timetable? Just a thought -

Could it be that at this short notice Bjerre is simply not available? That's probably far too simple an explanation tho -

Shall we just agree that our interpretations of the quote differ and we both agree that when he is on form it's wonderful to watch Mr Gollob Pax -

From post 52 Or have I read it wrong. It says Gollob does not have more ability????? I thought talent and ability were more or less the same and so does the Oxford Dictionary Thesaurus. -

Jirout I didn't start the comparison of Nicholls to Gollob. Try looking at post #52. Read my post again, do I knock Nicholls? I don't think so, I didn't praise him which in your eyes amounts to the same thing no doubt. No I don't like Scott Nicholls, but had he won a GP, I would give him the same amount of praise as I would any other rider. One thing I do agree with you on is that he doesn't not suffer overly with GPitis, which is much to his credit. As I said I wasn't trying to change anyones opinions and to the best of my knowledge everyone is entitled to voice their own, even on this board. As for Subedei being bored ....nah don't think so and everyone and I repeat everyone has the right to reply on Subby's board, unlike this one, where if your post don't fit it get deleted -

I can't beleive in trying to defend Nicholls people are saying Gollob hasn't got talent Putting all rivalries aside think back and decide which of the two riders can make moves out of nowhere. Which of the two can ride lines no other rider does and make them work. Which of the two has had fans on the edges of their seats in GPs for the last decade. Clue - it ain't Nicholls. As for injuries being used as an excuse - Nicki Pedersen anyone? Jason Crump anyone? Personal issues - well we all have them and how we deal with them is part of our make up, but is shouldn't affect the way we do our jobs. That's called professionalism. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind here, cos you won't change mine, but if you are going to defend someone make sure you don't knock others to do it as it just devalues your arguement and makes you look desperate. -
Maybe it's my wishful thinking but there is only mention of Elite League on Sky, there is no mention of British Speedway. Does this mean there is a possibility that PL and CL are now up for grabs by other channels?

That was boring in the extreme. Track was diabolical. Nicki head and shoulders above everyone. Nicholls rode well, maybe he should consider fortnightly doses of the squits or hope his mentor rides on Saturday in the UK again, cos something worked Sky coverage was very poor IMO, Millard his usual forgetful/unknowing self, American studio duo extrememly poor, bring back Chris Louis. Sky can get things right, Georgie whoever was a brilliant frontsperson, Sara in the pits is excellent, but Sky seem to revert back to the incompetent time after time . Was I the only one totally sick of hearing about riders injuries ad nauseum. Once, fair enough but to go on an on, shows the total lack of something else to say. Also fed up with hearing that track conditions were bad. Yes they were, but fans knew that and newbies probably thought it was just an excuse for the p1ss poor action on track. *cue the Sky are the sports saviours brigade telling us we never had it so good* To answer them, that is no excuse for mediocre performances

So I wasn't the only one to notice then

To be honest, it wouldn't matter which nationality the doc was. If a rider says he's injured or ill and there is no way of proving or disproving it, i.e. double vision, back pain, the doc will always err on the side of caution. To do anything else would possibly put other riders at risk. A neutral doc might make fans feel happier but I really can't see it having any different outcome. -
I insist on saying it because it's my opinion, to which I am entitled. In exactly the same way as you are entitled to insist that just about any move Nicki P makes isn't good. I also said in the shots they showed of Team GB, didn't say how many. The Aussies team spirit was superb and they weren't winning...or did I miss something As a matter of fact I do like some Team GB riders. I have liked Chris Harris since his CL days, I've liked Olly Allen since he rode for Lynn. I don't like Scott Nicholls but he is only one of five, the same as Nicki is one of five Danes I'm not a fan of Richardson or Stead. Kennett I can take or leave. You are not a fan of Nicki P but it hasn't stopped you commenting has it. See a common thread yet how many years have you been saying that now? Read the posts by Iris and Rusky, then wake up and smell the coffee.

Hans Andersen
Star Lady replied to pirate paul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Agree with the first part but I was disappointed in Andersen's comments. I'm a huge fan of his and not a particular fan of Leigh Adams but contrast the dignity of Adams comments, along the lines of "we thought we could do it, but we didn't manage it"....no excuses, to those of Andersen who whinged about Poland using a rule everyone knew was there and would have used if it had benefited themselves. -
Likewise not picking on your post Should the team manager not be instilling or should that be inspiring team spirit? I saw plenty of that last night from the Poles, from the Danes and from the Aussies. Prime example Nicki P bellowing in Bjarne's ear between their respective races. Whenever there were pit shots, the Danes, Poles and Aussies were all together right from the start of the meeting, they were in groups, discussing, cajoling, encouraging even commiserating, mechanics etc included on several occasions. On the other hand every shot I saw of the Brits, there were two of them, no more. Sure Middlo, or any other manager cannot ride the bikes for them BUT he can ensure they go out there wanting to WIN, not do their best but WIN. If you want an example of team spirit that exists big time, take a trip to any match that includes King's Lynn, there you will find 7 riders all riding for each other, they care about each other and it shows. That is worth an extra 2 or 3 points per meeting IMHO. Chris Holder, admittedly an exceptional talent, is a PL rider for heavens sake but he was head and shoulders above the Brits in the first half of last nights meeting, now he didn't manage that without help. That's where a team manager and team spirit come into play. I'm not saying team spirit alone will win Britain a World Cup, it won't but it might just help.

Rosco Your Country Needs You.
Star Lady replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Now I don't want to see Rosco as GB team manager, but stop and think for a second Steve. Middlo at Poole has one of the best three squads in the EL to work with, of course he is successful. A successful manager however is one that can turn a bunch of mediocre riders into world class ones. As for riders saying he's good, they ain't gonna slate him are they if they want to rider for Team GB. I think he's had his shot at it and it's time someone else was given a chance, but please not Rosco. -
The Danes would probably have had one too, if they had had a stronger reserve
