If you honestly believe what you wrote JY2003 you are even sadder than I gave you credit for

He wasn't and I never said he was. For heavens sake get a Sense of Humour

    Hans Andersen

Can I say a big thank you to Hans Andersen for saving us all from another 28 page thread on how dirty Nicki P is could end up with a 28pager on how bad a liar Andersen is tho
  6. Best TV meeting ever by far. Why the extra long advert break after the Max/Johnno incident tho? was the race actually re-run cos it cannot be declared? A minor point I know but it was bloody annoying at the time

    Palm Trees

    Not an Aussie either
  8. We got a touch bored last night watching the first half of the meeting, so were discussing why have Palm Trees. We decided that as the rules are a bit woolly to say the least, or not well publicised....take your pick, the Palm Trees are there in case two teams tie for first place or for the last qualifying place. In that event the team that goes thro will be the team that can propel one of the palm trees the furthest. If it happens our money is on the Aussies. The Danes would fall back on their Viking past and hurl the palm tree like a javelin, and the Czechs would throw one like a dart. The Italians whichever method they used would end up with their palm tree going behind them. With the inventive Neil Street and Phil Crump in their pits, the Aussies would commandeer Shane Parkers' testimonial thong and use it as a catapault Just to be serious for a second, what does happen in the event of two teams tying?
  9. Shame on you Bill you forgot the Palm Trees

If that's a veiled guess Addy....close but not close enough

I didn't see it myself so not sure when it was, seem to remember Sue saying he was talking to a Swede. Couple of clues the rider in question is one of my favs and has a superb rear view (which cannot be false ) he also has a brilliant smile, (which doesn't quite have the same effect now) and he is not Danish but has Lynn connections.

We missed the name Gemini. At the time we were laughing because Vickis friend was telling us how her Mum had spotted a certain rider removing his dentures on Sky the evening before. None of us had spotted it and it did shatter a few illlusions I can tell you Mr Millard then assured us that the Danes could "pull it off" which just sent us into another round of raucous hilarity The entertainment in front of our TV is far classier than that provided by BSI, as you can tell

Cheers Kevin, would still rather see The Palm Trees launched tho Glad you enjoyed it Gemini, you know me, I refuse to take much in speedway seriously anymore There was much more banter last night too, including remarks after one of the commentators said an Italian had a Big Willy.....well that's what we thought he said anyway
  14. Now the euphoria has calmed a bit, what does everyone else think. Personally I was not impressed at all with Richardson. Should he stay in the team for the final or is there a better alternative? I have no probs at all with the other 4 they did us proud, despite any bike probs they had (or thought they had), they did the business and you could see they were really up for it and prepared to fight. I didn't get that impression from Richardson at all.

    Round 1

I was cheering for the referee. The riders ALL know the rules, listen to Tony R, he knew he was out of order and made no excuses. He and others have always got away with it in the past but it's no different to using the correct silencer etc. The ref was just doing his job. I'm heartily sick of riders faffing about at the tapes and if this refs actions are the start of an end to it I reckon he should be nominated for an award
  16. Can I come in the Lions cage with you LT . I was well bored by the time the racing started. If I want to watch WTCs of years past I will watch the videos! As for delaying the start. Why? The time was well advertised and I would have been very p'd off if I had got there in plenty of time only to be left twiddling my thumbs because of inefficiency of the organisers/lateness of other fans. Don't get me started on the unicyclist.....bring back the dancing ants

Doubt Steve would think the scenery of the Peak District was worth anything.....it's free Having just come back from a week there, I know where I would rather be and that's Sheffield, Dovedale, Monsal Head et al. You can stuff the bars and expensive shops in Poole where the sun don't shine

I nominate GRs little ditty for post of the month
  19. I think this quote is the reason why the format is being changed. IMO the rider have realised how good a product the GP series is and may well have said we want/deserve more money. BSI in their wisdom have found a way to give them more without it coming from their own coffers. They think the fans are all hooked on the GP series now and will attend whatever the format. Sorry got my cynical head on today
  20. Where were all the Danish team officials when Nicki was losing his rag tonight. The other Danes didn't seem able to move without being smothered by them. Surely someone from the Danish team should have attempted to calm Nicki down a bit. Also did anyone else notice that Jacob Olsen was allowed on the track to congratulate every Danish rider on the completion of a race. Phil Crump understandably wanted to congratulate his son on winning the GP and Ole "I'm in Charge" Olsen tried to block his way

    Tony Rickardsson's knock

JY I quote your post from Poole v Eastbourne thread. Seems to be a blanket bad mouthing of Poole fans to me, yet you are quite happy to believe and repeat the sayings of Poole fans when it suits you and they are sensationalising a riders private life. First we had your mothers thoughts on Tony Rs private life and now the Poole fans, why don't you just stick to FACTS. I assume both your mother and these Poole fans are very close friends with Tony R. How would you like it if people posted rumours and their thoughts about your private life, when in all probability they were not true. Think about it.

    Tony Rickardsson's knock

I assume these are not the Poole fans you were bad mouthing on another thread. As others have been said Tony Rs private life is just that.... PRIVATE.
  23. Am I the only one now totally sick of Sky showing the Hancock/Pedersen incident. Yes it happened, we've all seen it, opinions have been passed and polarised. It's time to move on. To interview Hancock again in Denmark about something that happened 2 GPs ago is IMO out of order.

    Kings Lynn Starlets 1969-70

I have a very clear memory of Russell Osbourn. Boston were riding against a Polish touring team when one of the Poles did something Russell didn't like, here the memory lets me down I can't remember what . He grabbed a shovel ( a big builders one not a garden spade) and ran the whole length of the centre green with this shovel over his head, with the clear intention of belting said Pole with it. Luckily his team mates and track staff managed to intercept him This match was the first time I had ever seen a Polish team, and boy were they wild
  25. I agree totally with Kelvin Tatum on this one. Nicki saw someone on his outside, out of the corner of his eye and instinct took over. He moved over, hit Crumps wheel. Whether Crump laid it down or not makes no difference, he was innocent and impeded IMO and it would have been completely unjust if he had been excluded. Someone had to go, the ref got it right. Also agree great sportsmanship by Nicki in trying to get his bike off the track.
