Has Kelv put his heating on yet?
Star Lady replied to Happy Hunter's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The only time this year I actually enjoyed the commentary was when Pearson was otherwise engaged and Chris Louis took his place. TBH I've usually had enough of the banal comments by heat 6 and switched channels. -

Since when did Tatum let facts get in the way of saying things. Can only hope Discovery get commentators who actually know what they are talking about. -

**** Van and Bikes stolen in Middlesbrough ****
Star Lady replied to Bald Bloke's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Thanks for the reply Vince. I know nothing about insurance for stuff like this. All in all it seems not too bad from what I’ve read bikes were recovered, tools worth £2K and £3K raised by fans. -
**** Van and Bikes stolen in Middlesbrough ****

Do riders normally insure their bikes or at the very least their tools? Seems a sensible option to me. -

Kings Lynn Stars v Sheffield Tigers 19/08/21
Star Lady replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Too many riders think they are superstars nowadays. Speedway thrived when it was a paid hobby for riders who also worked outside speedway. They slung a bike on the back of a car, put a pair of overalls in the boot and just rode for the fun of it. There isn't the money or the fan base in the sport for riders to carry on as they are, making financial demands and not giving a toss about the paying customer ( with the odd exception). If riders aren’t prepared to at least consider fans and give it a go on a wet track maybe they should seek other employment.- 215 replies

Anyone know if there is space for spare bikes with view of the start once the pit gate is shut? Difficult to tell from TV pics. -

I believe Rob Lyon was a car salesman when he was appointed team manger, I don’t think he’s done too bad a job. i understand Brady has been a fan for 25 years, given that fans on here think they know better than many team managers, I suggest he has the perfect qualifications

King's Lynn v Ipswich 05/07/21
Star Lady replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Having stood on the Lynn terraces and had at different times had 2 bikes (David Norris was one, forgot the other) and one rider ( Dukie Ermolenko) fly over the fence and land within feet of me, I was quite pleased to see the fencing installed. The benefit of safety far outweighs the very small effect on the view. -
I’m only going by the long shots on TV last night but it seemed to me that the wheelchair viewing area in the home straight stand was rather full! I know it’s personal choice but to me that is a bit dubious as regards safety. Before anyone says it was camera angle they were straight on shots from the back straight. This isn’t a pop at KL as they have tried to provide disabled friendly areas but might explain why some are not comfortable going at present.

Witches v wolves 28th June, TV meeting
Star Lady replied to Badge's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
My comment was aimed at the fact that the riders didn’t know which gates to go from when one went off 15 yards. The start Marshall seemed equally bemused and the commentators hadn’t got the foggiest. -

The farce on the start line sums up speedway. As screm says a mess. -
15 heats....says it all really. In my days, not that long ago, it was 13/15 heats and a second half of at least 8 more heats. Sometimes a Rider of the Night comp, sometimes a junior match , sometimes .... heavens above....both. If you were lucky you even got 3 Golden Helmet races thrown in as well.

Maybe the decent crowds have more to do with the lack of alternatives. Covid regs mean many other events have been cancelled and/or attendances capped. If promoters actually got their act together and put on added value for money (, I.e. children’s entertainers/singers/ands are crying out for work) so it might be mutually beneficial. Perhaps just perhaps a few people might continue to go to speedway once other stuff opens up. Most businesses have had to adapt, speedway as usual has just stood still. I have just seen three pigs fly past the window
