And yet NHS Scotland is held up - in some quarters - as being so much ahead of that awful Tory-run English version.

I am happy with the Sassenachs.

I'm sure there are folk who have had letters who are not getting support but from personal experience I cannot fault what has been offered  to my daughter. The only help we have taken up is prescription delivery.

I get annoyed at all the negativity from those that are not directly affected, especially when they get things wrong. If you stop and think of the massive numbers of people on the lists and the very short time the authorities have had to arrange stuff, they have done a bloody good job.

  2. As I understand it, and I could be wrong, the first letters went out to those that hospitals considered should be shielded. Others were added to the list when GP practices went thro their lists. Think the list has been updated a couple of times.

My daughter didn't receive her letter until 2-3 weeks ago although we knew from online forums that she should be on the list and acted accordingly before lockdown was announced. We haven't had a food parcel as we said we don't need one, local businesses doing deliveries and lately supermarkets but the local council do arrange for medication to be collected and delivered to us for which we ar very grateful.

What are the guidelines in regard to SELF ISOLATION please. How, when and who should practice it? Thank you.

53 days into lockdown and only now you ask! Where the heck have you been for the last 7 and a half weeks!

I understand all of it, I don't condone them whatsoever. They're idiots.

That wasn't the point I was making.

I was commenting on the NHS message which is now beginning to become outdated.

And I understand that you have your views BUT the NHS was not mentioned in the statement. You chose to bring it up, because it suits your arguments that are massively well documented on another thread (which you are totally entitled to do)

My point was by linking it to the NHS you were covertly implying that because the NHS is not snowed under (your view) it's OK to break the Forestry Commission rules.

Sadly symptomatic of many nowadays. The rules only apply if they want them to.

My view and I'm sticking to it:P

Whilst I don't condone people doing this, this rhetoric is old and stale now. A&E units are deserted in hospitals.

Doesn't matter a jot. The reason is,  it is Forestry Commission and/or private land and they make the rules. They have decreed for whatever reason they don't want bikes ridden on their land. What part of that don't you understand.

Glad you got over it. My ND advised me to increase my intake of Vitamins A, C, and D, along with Zinc and Selenium back in February to boost the immune system. Caught it in March, felt a bit rough for a day but was fine after that, but the other two in the house were ill for a fortnight. I lost my sense of smell and taste for a month, but that was a blessing in disguise with the wife's cooking :)

Just asking, no agenda but did you have a test?

  7. One pleasant side effect of the coronavirus is it appears to have solved King's Lynn's notorious traffic jams. Went to the local butcher and then to an edge of town shopping complex for cat litter today and rush hour when it's normally nose to tail crawling there was not a queue in sight!

Most cover is provided by private staff and ambulances paid for by the promotion. Not normally NHS staff,  I take the point on board they will be stressed by speedway accidents at NHS hospitals.

Many of the private staff are NHS workers, who would be better employed in their normal jobs on overtime than standing in the pits at speedway.

The problem is precisely that its not being left to the experts and the panic mongers must be appeased..

The media has a section of the public too scared now. Some believe its a death sentence if their 14 year old daughter catches it.. yet there is more chance of them being run over by a car than dying from coronavirus.

As for imposing all the bans on sports, realistically, if you're doing that over 4800 deaths.. it should never run again in the winter. I read that the CDC figures showed influenza deaths to be over 60,000 in the same time period as Covid-19 has killed 4800.

Forget the differences between the two for a moment, and imagine if the media were hyping 60,000 deaths...

Agree with you that the media have everyone running scared. I, my husband and especially my daughter are in the high risk groups but intend to carry life on as normal as much as possible but taking sensible precautions.

As for large gatherings, I think they will be banned but more to give the emergency services a break than for infection control. Paramedics etc will be stretched to the limit in the near future so standing about at concerts/sports events etc is not a good use of their time in these circumstances. Health workers etc will be in the front line of this and we should be grateful to them all.

If there are folk on here who know Keith Chapman I’d have thought it would be far more beneficial to create dialogue directly with him on this subject rather than venting on here which ultimately achieves very little.

It doesn't affect me personally as I no longer go to speedway let alone Peterborough. I will ask him the next time I see him. However I'm not convinced that he is behind this move or maybe even realises the furore it has caused. If he does then he is not the person I think I've known for over 2 decades.

More excuses. You can by a fold up lightweight chair that comes in a bag / cover which you can put the strap on your back rather than carry the chair.

It now sounds like every Speedway fan is a blue badge holder. Every fan has one form of physical disability. Every fan is pot less. Nobody is able to walk. I'm now beginning to wonder why they're still allowed to drive a vehicle.

It wasn’t an excuse, it was a question. Quite frankly your aggressive response shows you for what you are. An ignorant bigot.

just to be clear I know Buster quite well, I also have personal knowledge of how far he goes to allow access to speedway for the disabled but your bigoted responses to comments and questions on here do him no favours whatsoever.

    Another sensible suggestion

Take a fold up chair with you that way you can sit down and take a breather after every 50 meters or so. Plenty of ways to adapt. Plenty of ways for a high budget solution or a low budget solution.

Exactly how does someone with 2 walking sticks/crutches carry such a chair?

Give me a sensible reply please as I realise you like to offer solutions.

I know things like this have gone on for years. But surely for a transfer to take place the injury has to be long term,ie over 6 weeks.Surely even the BSPA have thought of that.

Maybe the doc signing the sick note should have to give estimated time that the rider will return to fitness. rider not allowed to ride before that date, might stop rider collusion.

  15. Hi tellboy.

    nice to be missed:P

I agree with what you say and to a great extent Buster is bound by what the rest of British, and indeed world speedway does. I'm a realist and from past conversations with Buster know he doesn't/didn't agree with quite a few things himself but even as BSPA supreme couldn't change them.

If I had to pick just one thing that IMHO would improve things (and boy how big is the choice:P) it would be to reduce the power of the engines so it's rider skill that wins races and not tuner's tinkering.

Going back into hibernation again now but who knows a visit from Nicki in 2020 might just tempt me back to Saddlebow Road :D
